Don't agree with your premise that investigative journalists should be giving opinions/solutions. What about Mark Tighe's book about John Delaney. His work uncovered a lot of corruption but no one went to him to ask how to fix things etc.
She seems to have travelled to these places and talked to people and says there is a massive problem and general EU citizens don't know the consequences of EU policy. I don't see why she should have to come up with solutions.
She did keep saying that...repeatedly... but she's also saying EU policy needs to change in relation to migration. It seems a bit pointless writing a book on this and not having anything to say about an alternative or what changes she'd like to see? She clearly doesn't want to come out and say the EU should have a more open borders approach but that's what she's advocating for from hearing the interview yesterday.
Was wondering if the IRA singing would take the shine off today's episode but glad they didn't focus too much on it.
I wonder what Off The Ball's reaction to it will be
Didn't she say a million times that she is a journalist and just highlighting the issues not a politician or policy maker?
...
This is all I can think each time Ken starts a politics pod with a random question for Murf 😂😂
”What are you proud of”?
”Have you ever won an award”?
Not really sure what today's contributor wants in relation to EU migration policy.
Is her proposal to just let everyone in from the continent of Africa who wants to come to Europe and house/feed them indefinitely as refugees? The only good point i thought she made was knowing exactly where the EU money was going in relation to Libya and these camps outside the EU borders.
This whole migration issue is only going to get worse with climate change and even more in the short term with the Russian issue. Very interesting times ahead.
A couple of other podcasts I listen to stream live while having patreon members in a slack group who are able to comment while the podcast is being recorded. Rather than just people on YouTube being able to comment
Yeah, although sometimes I get the impression that Ken in particular is bored with his own schtick
The original Football Show on OTB was just Eoin and Ken and I though it was a lot better. It being live and the interaction with the listeners helped. I've nothing against Murph, but he doesn't add a whole lot to the football podcast.
They would be mad not to do it. Raking in a fine amount of money and still get to do other work on the side, presenting radio/tv, writing articles and guests on other pods
Yeah, it’s the dynamic between them that makes it work.
Which I’m sure they all realise. I wonder what would happen if one of them decided they didn’t want to do it anymore
Boar on the floor - Ken and Murph style
Those two are over due a naked fire side wrestle
correct/my mistake
Yeah, I thought they seem to have a good relationship. I didn't get any tension at all!
Was it not his mothers basketball credentials? Not his swimming
I don't think there's massive tension. I think they both love to be contrarian (Marcotti self confessed contrarian yesterday). I reckon they get on rather well.
Murph is superb on GAA coverage, my increased interest in it is largely down to him. He's also incredibly intelligent and quick witted, he can just be a bit in your face at times
Ken talks a lot of shite too but he tends to get more of a free pass, probably because it suits his personality a bit better
Ken stuck him like a pig with his swimmer credentials. Also maximum tension between the two men.
Just to balance the books a little, I'm a huge fan of Murph - just Ken and Eoin would be way worse imo. He's essential to anything other than football. Show me a three way conversation among friends where there isn't the odd person speaking over the other.
I think some people here just want to listen to Ken monologues all day every day! (which would be excellent too)
He's very good but he seems a bit on edge or something, like he's on the verge of going off on a rant. Not that I'm complaining, he's a great listen
Marcotti was a brilliant listen today.
Benched for today's pod apparently. Pass it on.😀
The rap week intro thing is annoying as feck. Wish yer man would feck off to the BBC to make depressing award winning podcasts permanently and leave us in peace!
ah I feel a bit bad for Murph. he's obviously #2 to the wit of Ken, and knows it, so maybe overcompensating. and Eoin is the straight man of course so exempt from the power rankings
Murphy is a bore, a fool and always one Simpsons reference away from another persons punchline.
I love the boards rumours. 😀
There's a reason the egomanics mailbox revolved heavily around Murph.
I noticed that alright. Eoin asked Ken for his opinion on 90s hip-hop week and Murph answered.
I heard Ken had words with Murph after recording finished.
