I just burst out laughing when I got to the last pic although I was more or less expecting something like that. I don't think it's tacky but it's very overdone, there is too much going on in there for the size of the place.
Reminds me of Saul Goodmans house
Holy mother of God!!
That's a fabulous renovation, to get 1000sq ft and a B rating in one of those old cottages is some achievement - but my goodness, whoever decorated and/or staged it must have had a taste bypass 🤣
That could be so classy..... but really, really isn't.....
I had the same thought - the decor is very overdone. The decor will date very quickly.
I love the way the classical columns beside the fireplace don't reach the ceiling.
The wife liked the shape of these lights. No idea why. 😀
She said it reminded her of something I used to have years ago. 😀
To be fair, they've done a good job on the construction and have made great use of the space. A bit of decorating and it'd be a lovely place. Different paint and wallpaper would do wonders for the house.
Looks like a continental drug dealer's house - furniture and decor is supposed to make you think they're a person of taste, intelligence and refinement, but really, they're just the (current) biggest murdering b*astard around.
Tempting for 45k
The side with the windows have a bungalow right up against it and the other side is right up against the road - No privacy at all. By the looks of it you would have no garden space or even room to park a car. I think they would need to give that house away to get someone to take it! I cant see any potential in it at all.
Its a pity - It could be a nice house if someone hadnt built an ugly bungalow within spitting distance of it.
It's a bit ... cheek by jowl.
Looks like a place I'd love to buy with a few mates. Then it'd take 20 years to renovate, and we'd all have fallen out by the end. 😂
Real problem is no room for a septic tank or waste water treatment. You would need to buy some land adjoining it. You want to have all your ducks in a row to have both sales going through at same time. You would probably pay the amount for land adjoining it
It looks like you may need permission to park in the field opposite the house aswell as there is nowhere to park 🤣. I just noticed the car parked in the field. You'd want to be crazy to pay €45K for that house.
Why is a car needed? It’s on an island that you’d walk from one end to the other in an hour?? Electric bike would be plenty.
Ive never been to the island so I have no idea what its like. There are 3 cars in the photo though which may suggest a car may be needed.
Another 'cheap Irish house' likely to end up on Maggie's Instagram feed soon for 95k
Looks in fairly decent condition. Ya in need of modernisation but is on nearly 2 acres with some sheds as well.
Option to buy another 18 acres. It would be a lifestyle choice
That was probably a fine house back in it's day. And if you had the money to buy the land you could become a farmer. Or even rent out the land for an income.
It’s South County Dublin madness. People willing to pay stupid prices rather than cross the Liffey and pay less stupid prices. Most areas of SCD, apart from the bits touching the coast, are boring as hell.
No shortage of daft prices north of the Liffey either tbf
Sold in 2020 (According to PPR) for 381k.
It is a pity eircodes don't reliably appear on Daft listings and the nupper, making it difficult to compare asking and selling prices.
NPPR
First % is the change in the past month, second is the change in 3 months
Non Principal Private Residence
The NPPR charge is no longer in place and was phased out in 2013. The charge remained in place for any unpaid liable properties. When an individual goes to sell a residential property in Ireland, they will be required to furnish either a Certificate of Exemption or a Certificate of Discharge for the NPPR charge
Having the eircode does make life easier, but its easy enough to c/p the address into the Eircode Finder.
Interesting spot
i think its down to people buying what they can afford as close to the area they want to live in, so if you grew up in glenageary or killiney or dalkey, the noggin isnt very far away, but id agree with you i wouldnt spend that money to live there and i know a few people who did last time around who got stuck with negative equity and all the rest and are still there and unhappy about it.
I'm struggling with the mix of crenellations and big windows, then the Georgian/Greek revival/deep south -ish concoction of the doorway.
I don't like it at all and it's far too imposing for a half acre site.
The previous owner should have retained a lot more of the grounds, when you look at the drone shots the house is completely surrounded.
always the same with those places, its half an acre but the house is so big and they need so much foliage for privacy it looks tight.
Too much for an over-looked money pit, imo
