,the main gun was raised too ,so they would have had time to react if the gun started to move into a position to shoot,
If the crew had explosives inside the vehicle the blast would have been pretty much contained to the vehicle interior,the crew would have been turned to paint

From what I've read, this was a pre-arranged surrender. The Ukrainians new that BMP-2 was coming and the Russians must have been told where to go and where to stop. They do have a reward scheme of some sort operational, but I'm not sure a) how much a BMP-2 is worth under that scheme or b) if that is paid out to the Russians who surrender the vehicle or to the Ukrainians who capture it.

This withdrawal talk came from a single Russian source last night and turned out to be false. Snihurivka is apparently one of the most well fortified parts of the Kherson line, it seems unlikely that the Russians would pull out given that both of their flanks are secure and it controls the main road to Kherson city.
