how do i know what emui version im running?
Go to settings -> About Phone.
It should say it in there.
9, happy days, thank you
I have a couple of them
They have a few regular buttons for volume and selecting apps but mostly I wave it
Sounds like u just want a basic remote
Yes, you can turn on or off the airmouse function and use it as a normal remote. There are different versions (ones with backlight too).
The blue button with the 'e' on it in that picture, will open the browser when pressed, but in another version you can get one with microphone button where that button is which is vert handy for voice search, especially as it can save typing and is an option in many apps.
You've got me checking all the buttons now
Never use any except the select and home really and the air mouse function
I was annoyed with myself when I got my first airmouse. Should have bought a lot sooner. Maybe its just me but I find being able to move my airmouse pointer by waving it is essential. Sometimes it can really do my head in if I cant get to a certain text box, button, check box etc. in some app or settings. Much easier with a good airmouse.
😄 They are handy to have. I found out about the versions by accident, I ordered three from Geekbuying, then ordered two for somebody that saw them in my house, and I ordered them from elsewhere, as there were none in EU on the Geekbuying site. Those two were terrible version and didn't have voice search (one of the main reasons they wanted them), I reordered two for them from Geekbuying China and paid the vat. I now have KM2's so don't really need them at all, but to bring on work breaks.
I don't use the keyboard if I can help it, it's near useless. I change the on screen keyboard to Android TV keyboard instead.
Thanks! But I saw some complaints online that these remotes don't control the volume or allow you to power on or off?
The remote that came with the android box can change the volume through the box and turn the power on or off.
They do, I have never had an issue, the ones I ordered from elsewhere were flimsy and the dongle bust, but the geekbuying ones are great, have had them a long time.
You could also use a remapper if you wanted. Mine work fine in every app, even the play/pause/rewind etc. are good.
The only button I had issue with (if you want to call it that) is the power button doesn't power it on. I had to use the red button at the bottom of the control (used for menus) RED, GREEN, YELLOW, BLUE.
If ordering from China, you would have to pay vat.

Thanks :) So you're saying the volume buttons work like a normal remote out of the box? Is there a usb receiver thing you put into the android box?
Did you use the remapper app to log the red button as a power on/off button?
Is there a reason to turn on and off the android boxes
Mine just stays on 24/7
Yep all worked out of the box and yes, there is a Receiver to plug into box. No I didn't bother remapping for that key, once I realised it would power on with the red button, I just used that. I would only remap if there were a few buttons not working and I used them.
Safety mainly. I turn them off, and if you are using the plug that came with it, even if it is a UK/Irish plug, I would put it into an adaptor or extension lead. Something with a fuse.
Also with many of the boxes, leaving them on they could overheat and start to have issues more often. For example, freezing or crashing.
The reason of not destroying our planet maybe? Or the reason of large increases in electricity costs?
Looking for recommendations for Wifi Plugs setup to improve streaming from router that is a little distant from Android Box. Suggestions appreciated.🤚
are home plugs an option?
These are what I have. Very handy as you don't loose the socket it's plugged in to. You can use 2 sets together so you have 1 at your router and 3 around the house. They also have the same thing without the pass thru socket but it's the same price so I'd go for these as they're handier.
If WiFi reception is poor in the room then these will do the same job, but also put out a WiFi signal. Same again with 2 sets but you'd have one at the router, 2 WiFi boosters and a single wired socket elsewhere.
I haven't been in the market for a box in a while but is Mecool KM2 still one of the best options in the under €75 price range or is there something newer available?
Would anyone know how or where I can set someone up with Netflix on their KM8 box please? PM if necessary. Thanks.
Wanted to buy 2 KM2 box's for family but they have been out of stock a few weeks.
Anyone able to recommend a similar box ,spec and around the same price?
Trying to avoid fire stick and google tv if I can.
Looking to get one of these also. Is the KM2 plus any good
Friend got two of them about a fortnight ago and is happy with them.
No complaints so far and they were about 75€ from Mecool.
How many units does an android box use per hour/day?
More than when it’s turned off.
Anytime I put a km2 plus into the basket on the mecool site it goes to $$ instead of €€. Anyone know where it ships from cos I really don't wanna get hit by customs charges. It's for a Christmas present so in no real rush but equally kinda want everything gotten as early as I can
It's the year 2500. Earth is a lifeless barren wasteland.
What's left of the human race now lives on Mars. A young boy asks: "Dad - what happened to Earth all those years ago?"
...
Dad: "Android boxes son!"
😂
There's a bit more to digital waste than that;
Dad: "Emails son!"*
Better?
I think they ship from China.
He didn't get hit with customs but probably just got lucky.
Also they came very quick compared to most items.from China, less than 2 weeks.
It came back on Amazon so I've ordered off them just in case I get hit with with customs. Worked out about €5/6 more than the mecool site.
