Well you blithely stated "hundreds of thousands of deaths" so best if you supply the actual figure before wafting around generalisations!
Nothing to do with this war of course, so have no interest in the matter other than challenging vague allegations.
Hope he picks a twitter fight with Zelenskyy, he'll ruin his business 🤣
Twitter might be good for something after all.
He wrote under that tweet that is what’s going to happen anyway. How many lives lost will it take before that.
Such arrogance.
Where are you getting this stuff from? Where are the links to the story.
You are aware of Starlink and the momentous advantage it has given Ukraine with regards to secure Communications? I seriously doubt that either Zelensky nor the ambassador told Musk to "**** Off".
Enough of the cut-and-paste nonsense without links.
Yes .. that war cost the lives of hundreds of thousands of people ... and yes you were interested because you asked for a more accurate number ....I don't give a **** you are not happy with getting an exact number .... I'm not in the business of spoon feeding
Ms Vavra is Security Correspondent for The Daily Beast.
Actually, I stand corrected. Just saw his tweet. Jesus, Im dissapointed in him. As a fan of Space X and the engineers that work there, plus his admirable help with Starlink, you would think he would not dilute any good will by opening his Gob!
And this is some of the original exchange.
Linked enough for you?
That was just one night.
Come a bit stronger next time.
Musk and Putin have some traits in common, like believing their own hype, authoritarian tendencies, predilection for pushing stuff into usage before it's truly ready etc.
Some interesting insights from a former Russian ambassador who resigned in May because of Putin's actions. He says Putin had no plan whatsoever in February, as he assumed the war would be over in three days : the last 7-8 months have been about damage limitation. He adds that 'peace' can only be on Putin's terms i.e. a Ukrainian surrender.
Rybar is saying the town has been abandoned. The town is separated by an earth dam with a road running through it (you can make it out in the map below), he claims the dam was exploded and this should slow Ukrainian progress.
Dragging out my expertly drawn map from yesterday I said if Dudchany falls to Ukraine, everything in the blue box will have to be abandoned by the Russians as no road will exist to supply those settlements above the blue line.
I think the position for the Russians changes again, assuming that Dudchany has actually fallen. The entire left flank of the Russian bulge has now been outflanked and supply lines are very difficult, if not impossible.
The Russians surely will need to withdraw to some approximate location behind the red line on the map I've drawn above.
They were not antiwar protests!
They were anti-mobilisation protests.
Yes i think they would just be shot down, we have seen lots of footage of them taking out Russian aircraft earlier in the conflict. The Ukrainians would receive good intel if they were launched too.
The US fielded an SR-71 replacement designated RS-85, which flew for it's entire service life, without public discovery or secrecy blowing mishap. It was retired in 2018 while still a secret. Yes Aurora was much speculated on, but that's it.
Thanks for clearing that one up. Again reinforces the original point about sloppy sources
In fairness, there aren't many people the Ukrainian ambassador to Germany hasn't told to f-ck off at this stage. Many of them deserve it, but he comes across as a bit of an obnoxious arse in his style of communication
On the one hand, I'm scratching my head as to just how badly wrong Russian intelligence got it when it came to Ukraine's capability. On the other hand, I'm remembering that some people here were predicting that Kyiv had, at most, two weeks before it fell to Russian forces. I kept putting the news on every morning in the first days of the invasion to find that Kyiv had not been blasted to bits by that column of artillery through the night. Even the news channels were putting up infographics describing the 'tale of the tape' between the standing armies, with Russia apparently dwarfing Ukraine in almost every aspect.
This isn't an academic journal though. You may not appreciate the random unverified stuff but I actually appreciate seeing it even if I'm sceptical.
It seems nearly everyone hugely overstated the capabilities of the Russian military and underestimated that of Ukraine.
The war has certainly been fascinating in the way it has exposed numerous weaknesses and widespread corruption and incompetence in the Russian state.
Wibbs you're one of the more level headed people on this thread but what you're saying about not even 8 people protesting in Russia is wrong. Far too few have protested, but there have at least been a few thousand arrests, quite a few imprisoned or fired from jobs. It's not quite the same as marching down O Connell Street or Oxford Street with zero risk of any negative consequences, then off to the pub for a few pints (I'm not disputing your main point, but just saying...)
Yes, I remember checking if things had gotten worse each day too and being confused by how immobile the russian forces near Kyiv were. It's a pity they made such progress in the south though.
Besides. the way things are going, we might be about to get an update on the state of the BOMB in the present time and situation....😏
It frustrates me, I just feel enough genuinely important stuff is happening that the waters don't need to be polluted all the time with fake news. But fair enough, different people have different preferences
And America will publicly unveil their new 3rd generation stealth bomber in December the B21 raider ,
Even the f35 has its roots in a Russian yak 141 experiment aircraft they cancelled in 91
Surely what happened is that NATO and Western weapons happened? Far as I can see they've made the main difference and Putin did not anticipate that level of support.
That, and I guess the sheer willingness of Ukraine to fight versus the morale problems in a Russian army that probably cares a lot less about Ukraine than Putin does. But without the western weapons there's no way this counter offensive could have happened
Some of the silly tangents and link dumps annoy me too but overall I feel I find links to random news here that I don't find myself so I appreciate it.
That is clearly not the case. There are multiple vehicle types on the train.
Woman killed as result of shelling in Golovchyno village of Belgorod region
another senseless killing!
Obviously the NATO weapons have made a huge difference to Ukraine's ability to defend its territory, but quite a bit of that was already in the country when Russia first fully invaded. Russia was getting its nose bloodied in the opening days. And the process of arming and training Ukraine forces had been ongoing pretty much since 2014, as is my understanding. So, for Russia to apparently have little idea of A) what the Ukrainians had at their disposal, and B) if Ukrainians were willing to fight and C) the decrepitude of its own armed forces - all of that has to add up as being the most spectacular intelligence failure of this century. Even worse when you consider that Ukraine is right next door. Of all the country's you'd think Russia would have riddled with intelligence agents, Ukraine would have to be up at the top of the list.
