With more and more countries advising their citizens to get out of Russia post-haste, you get a real sense of Russia's inexorable isolation, as if another iron curtain is descending along the edges of Europe. Surely there must be overlords in the Kremlin thinking the country's future is better served as part of Europe than China, and the dubious company of N. Korea and Iran ? It's extraordinary to watch this play out so badly.
I really think Ukraine needs to re-take Crimea now with all of the other occupied territory. If they wait until after the conflict is over then it will become much more complicated.

You'd have to wonder though, is this being purposely leaked and are they fully aware of where it is. What better way to make think the Russians think they have the upper hand than let be known, falsely, that your enemy doesn't know where you are.
@Igotadose If Crimea were to somehow stay part of RuSSia, I wouldn't expect it to be for very long. Maybe the UN will put in some mitigating efforts to keep the Ukrainians from reclaiming it, but maybe not..
What makes you think the UN would get involved they didn't get involved when ukraine was Invaded 8 years ago,and have done absolutely nothing for the past 8 months of the current invasion, nobody at the UN outside of a few basket cases reconise Crimea as Russian,the majority of the UN consider it occupied Ukrainian sovereign territory,
There will be no stopping of the Ukrainans from taking it back from occupation, especially now the Ukrainians backs are up and are continuing to roll Russian forces
Seems like its utility is more to instill psychological terror than in its actual use. Actually detonating such a weapon, especially in a limited conflict, seems like utter folly.

Speaking of new weapons, the Ukrainians report on telegram that they have found new Russian weapons that have never been reported on the internet:

100 km/h is actually not too shabby for an underwater vehicle. Most nuclear submarines are able to do 30+ knots, or around 50-60 km/h when going flat out, and they're noisy as hell when going that fast, making them easy to detect. I think they meant a top speed of 100 knots though, which would be even more impressive but only useful during the final run-in to the target because every sonar for 100+ kilometres around would be able to pick up that ruckus!
Poseidon is meant as a "loitering weapon", deployed in a certain area to move in a holding pattern at low speed until the go order is issued, before making a run to its designated target, whatever that may be. For what it's worth, I see Poseidon more as a carrier battle group killer than as the terror weapon the Kremlin, with the help of western media, is making it out to be. Russia's planned deployment pattern, using a dedicated class of submarine, Project 09851 or the Khabarovsk class, currently under construction, would bear that out. From what little information I've been able to gather, the Khabarovsk's design and mission profile are closer to the new Yasen class cruise missile submarine or the under-development Laika class SSN that's slated to replace the aging Akulas than it would be to a deterrent platform like a ballistic missile boat.
Now the big question in all of this is of course how far along Poseidon actually is. It is a completely new kind of weapons system, so it's likely bound to encounter its share of hiccups and surprises during its test phase. Also, as of the time of writing this, the special project submarine Belgorod is the only front-line submarine of the Russian navy able to carry Poseidon. However, Belgorod also has to pull double duty as an intelligence gathering platform and as a base for deep-sea diving & sabotage operations, meaning that even if Poseidon were operation, she likely wouldn't be carrying it full-time in order to have more reserve buoyancy available.
All in all, I'm not too worried about the potential of Poseidon. It's an interesting platform alright, but given Russia's ongoing issues with military procurement, and the fact that the first dedicated Khabarovsk class launch platform won't even join the fleet until 2024 at the earliest, I think it's more of a paper tiger.
Somehow I doubt Putin is feeling all that relaxed these days. He's made a huge gamble with his political future and that of the Russian nation's, and it's failing quite badly so far. Probably doesn't make for restful nights.
