There's a lot going on here, a real mix of style and taste, but in a gorgeous setting.
A fat fcuker like me would have difficulty accessing those drawers/cabinets near the altar/table.
Maybe I'm being thick but what are these in the decking?
"The house retains many of its original features such as two of its original church-stained glass windows, Valentia Island Slate alter now becomes its Kitchen Island and its original tower bell, being used as its doorbell."
Imagine someone rings the bell BONG the entire neighbourhood is woken up thinking they need to head to mass, in fairness it does look isolated.
@BattleCorp I would think they are a connection to the downpipe for drainage, they are very odd.
I was thinking drainage at first but their locations don't really make sense to me. There doesn't seem to be a gutter on the middle section of the roof that overhangs the decking. You'd imagine any drainage holes would be under there rather than what appears to be random locations in the decking.
I think it's just a pile of small stones arranged as part of an art piece.
They look to be arrange symmetrically on the decking, and the decking itself is cut where the stone things are
Very strange whatever it is
Altar looks great for performing human sacrifices while making the tea.
Looks tacky to me. Not what I'd consider to be a 'sympathetic' restoration or decoration.
You'd be hard pressed not to hold the hands out and say "Body of christ" every time you made a sandwich
Could they have had a pergola or other covering on this balcony and these are the remains of the anchor points for that?
Wasted potential there. Tacky kitchen and red tiles, showers and awful carpets. It looks like the money ran out after the actual building was restored and most of the decoration and finishing touches were done on a budget, either that or it was a rental/Airbnb.
They did well to shoehorn a waste treatment system into that back-yard.
That Lismore house has been really well done. Nice part of the country too.
Indeed - seems a shame to have so little outside space with a house in a rural setting. The view from the balcony will probably be blocked by coaches full of tourists all summer too given its on the ring of Kerry.
The stone altar/kitchen island is a clever repurposing but would be lethal with small kids running around.
Not sure what they are looking for here, a housesitter?

😂🤣 It looks like they want someone to mind their house and cat but want to also charge the lucky person 1000euro per month for the favour. They've included no actual photos of what the house is actually like!
They may also be in for a surprise when they come back and can't get rid of their tenant. They may have no home or cat when they return!
Sounds like the set up for the next dodgy Irish "horror" film.
Fuc'kinard luck someone was allowed to build the houses between it and the sea!
Wowee, that is one fabulous house - for the price of a half-decent semi in a half-decent area of Dublin.
Ab Fab.
"With all due respect, if you already have pets, do not fit into the conditions listed above, never been to Galway before, this is not the place for you & we appreciate if you do not apply as those enquiries will be ignored.
And if you feel this is the place to call home for a few months, send us a little bio of yourselves & the reasons you feel you are the ones.
Interviews & meets will be arranged based on the bio's."
Fecking weirdos! 😂
"Send a little bio of yourselves" to be in with the chance of renting a fecking room for 1000 a month. That used to annoy the absolute fcuk out of me when I was looking for places in Dublin back in de day, you'd be interviewed by a few guys/girls looking to meet their new best friend when all you want is a place to throw yourself down and sleep after a day's work. Then they'd take ages to decide if you are the perfect candidate they are looking for
That house looks to be the right distance away from the sea when the tide rises in a bad storm. The ones closer to the sea I wouldn't want to own.
The external walls have been pumped due to which the house retains the warmth very well through the winter months & needs the oil to be turned on only for short breaks.
And don't ye be turnin' on the heat now while your feedin' Fluffy & Snowball....
The oil will be on a meter knowing that shower.
That is stunning and reading the article makes it even more so. They have done all of this since 2019? Some people have a real talent for this stuff, if I spent a lifetime at it I don't think I could make a house look as good. And it is in such a beautiful part of Kerry too.
I bet this place has an "interesting" back story. The interior photos tell one tale, the streetview image another and then there's:
We are informed by the vendor that the property is subject to a tenancy at a current rent of 1,800 per annum.
That is one interesting street view!
34 quid a week rent, and there's probably still arrears on it
That estate has been a circus for years, only way of sorting it would be some sort of missile strike and start over.
The old rules of "'insert name of area or street' + accused" tells a few tales too.
In the case of that Athlone one, put in "Willow Park (Meadowbrook is only a part of a larger estate) + accused" and you'll have a full afternoons reading
