Seeing as Elton has now rescheduled his Dublin gigs, might be useful to start a 2023 thread as others might start popping up.
The Commitments - 7th - 19th February (Olympia Theatre)
Elton John - 28th/29th March (3Arena)
BST Hyde Park | Billy Joel BST Presale (bst-hydepark.com)
Presale link for Billy Joel, got very lucky myself in the summer. Was on a train from New Jersey to New York and got talking to the fella sitting across from me, he mentioned his friend had let him down for Billy's show in the garden, and he had a spare ticket he was going to try and sell outside the venue. Lets just say he had it sold before he left the train. Brilliant show.
When is Moderat going to play Ireland again, last time they played was at Dublin's Forbidden Fruit festival in 2017.
Will do. OH on Twickets.
👍
Keep an eye on Toutless and here
Ahh that's great, well done!
Am sick of checking that damn site. But you give me hope☺️
Hopefully something will turn up and we'll get there. 🤞
Got lucky one day over the summer while checking the TM page and got a ticket for Block A
Say be like most gigs and more tickets will be released closer
Looking at Billys setlists he seems to be playing long sets, 2 hrs 15 to 2 and a half hours.
Their present tour is massive so don't think they will be playing next year .
When are tickets becoming available for December ? Have been sold out a while now afaik ..
That be interesting and would be massive for the festival
ATN might nab them if they are back during the summer
Have a feeling The Cure might play an outdoor show here again
The upcoming December gig in the 3Arena is selling out everytime tickets become available
Much as I like it as a venue (despite the trek down the avenue at the end of the night), St. Anne's Park is too small for Depeche Mode. I expect it will be Malahide, which is a good fit. The Cure worked well there, and the audience demographic would have some crossover.
Would be happy with Kilmainham or Malahide for Depeche Mode.
Would kilmainham size suit them more?
Nightmare to get out of. St Annes the same
Depeche Mode for Malahide maybe
Wouldn't mind that tbh, like Malahide as a venue
If the gig was announced then contracts were signed, you can't then offer a smaller venue because someone you like more comes along. There has to be something more to this.
Marlay does have very restricted number of shows allowed. Another act (that mcd feels can sell 40k) could have magically agreed to a show in the summer so artics got pushed to malahide
could be do to with residents / licence etc. Longitude is usually not on until july so may have thought it was pushing it to have stage setup for 2+ weeks. All the Marlay gigs were within 6 days this summer. But doesnt really explain why it was announced
Not say that it isn't the case but I'd be surprised if that is case as that would be seriously shít poor management if they're going to have to incur the expense of two venues over one because they 'tried to figure out demand'. If they had common sense they'd do what Zardoz referenced which is move it back to Marlay Park.
I'm hearing there will a gig in Dublin, next June . . Swedish House Mafia.
Common enough policy these days, Luke Combs sold out in Presale too, alot of general sales are just a charade.
Arctic Monkeys could be moved back to Marlay Park.
Second show hasn’t been announced yet. Promoter and act trying to figure out demand in a market. Post covid ticket sales across the board have slumped. As just about did 2x 3 arena last time in Dublin they probably decided to play it safe by moving to malahide. Now on it selling out quickly they may add second malahide.
Whats the point of doing 2 x 20k gigs when it was 1 x 40k gig originally just 2 day ago. I still think some bigger act booked that day in marley park.
Agree on the first point but Carly Rae isn't anywhere near suitable for the 3Arena. Two nights in a small venue is about right.
With shows it’s the last 5-10% of tickets that a promoter makes money on. So with AM mcd May have felt that they could easily 20k, but hitting that 35/40k number to make marley park profitable was tight.
So AM could have done RDS/Marlay and you probably could have slapped Carly Rae in a reduced cap 3arena.
Normally our complaint is them putting them in venues too big for them.
Second Carly Rae show on the Saturday being added
Sold out in the presale it seems which is mad. Was lucky to pick two up in it.
Likely they will do a second date now I would have thought, similar to what they did when The Killers sold out last year.
