Thank you for your valuable contribution.
Show me how I have been unhelpful - just one example please. I have helped many people in a personal capacity (by doing favours like the one I have asked, and by giving professional advice for free btw) on here and on adverts (where I have given away many things for free) over the years.
My sour attitude to posters? Do you mean on radio...where I won't drink the RTE Kool Aid and lavish the grotesquely overpaid NK Management talent with the praise their sycophants do? Ok hun xoxo.
You have no idea who I am or what I do professionally and in my spare time. Your post says an awful lot more about you than it does about me. That you come on to a site and make a post like that as your 42nd post in your illustrious posting career sums you up really.
I genuinely hope you have a really nice day and that you can find some happiness today.
Is this Argos chat thread ?
I've already reported it, but this being new boards, can't imagine anything will happen...
Everyone should screenshot the post and email it to as many advertisers on this site as they can.ask them is this the type of vile site that they want to be associated with.the post has been there almost 24 hours and has been reported multiple times,by leaving the post there is a sign that the owners of this site condone the post.
Nothing to do with the site owners per se. The forum mods are tasked with removing unacceptable content. One mod hasn't been active for 3 weeks while the other has been logged in and posting but choose to ignore this.
I would suggest people send a PM to one of the active admins or Niamh the community manager.
It has everything to with the site owners, the buck stops with them
Jaysus, relax yourself.
Oh well, have it your own way. Off you go and contact the advertisers. Let us know how you get on.
You have had your hand slapped over numerous threads for your uncilvil attitude so i have no more interest in discussing this with you,the post has been removed so i am done here
So where and when did all this hand slapping take place? News to me.
Back to Argos. I live about equal distance between Argos in Letterkenny and Argos in Strabane (NI) and there really is no great difference in the prices at times. Some items would actually be a wee bit cheaper in ROI so for anyone heading North on a shopping trip check prices in your local store first and don't forget to factor in the Sterling - Euro conversation rate.
It seems like Argos.ie & Argos.co.uk are really diverging. .ie is not getting the same stock anymore, I don't think they will stay in Ireland, a few stores got shut down already
Was in argos for the first time in a long time and found their instore system pointless. It just works the same as their site, adding to cart and then enter email address/phone number. So I just filled out the paper form and paid at the counter instead.
Yeah and was thinking the fact we have those grey Amazon vans on the road here now 7 days a week with next day delivery on a lot of things has to be hitting Argos hard surely? I'd much prefer to give Argos my business as they employ people locally.
Where do you think those amazon drivers come from?
That makes no sense.
Argos had an advert running that appeared in my social media feed. The replies to it were all complaining about the terrible dated web site (compared to UK) and the problems with stock levels.
During COVID the ranger of home delivery stuff necessarily increased, but now I get the impression they're running things down. Barring some items, home delivery is still only certain bulky items as it has been for years. I've found them handy with certain things (and sodastream refills) price checking advantageously, as UK orders obviously now have customs added.
When argos give dates for collection is that inclusive ?
So, "Until 29th" (tomorrow) means I have until closing time tomorrow.
?
Yeah closing time.....they often send a txt an hour or so before close reminding you that you have a reservation.
Ok thanks for that info.
Are u still getting sodastream refills? I haven't seen them on the website for a few months only the spare cylinder for €32
I just went to the Nutgrove branch and got a refill, a few months ago. If the website doesn't list that, it might be a further sign of of Argos being run down.
I sent a mail to Customer Support about Sodastream refills last month and got this response:
"I do apologise, at the moment we are having an issue getting the stock of the exchange bottles. Some stores are getting the odd one in and you would need to contact your local store to see if they do have one available. I do apologise for any inconvenience caused."
If you’re stuck for a sodastream refill I think Harvey Normans also do them. That’s where I’ve purchased my last few refills.
Why have the refills jumped from €17 to €32 in Argos, that's some inflation!. I notice they are £25 on UK site. End of Sodastream for me, cheaper to buy sparkling water.
I've resurrected checkargos, as a test. This is all the work of @witnessmenow , so credit goes to him.
It's absolute bare-bones, pretty much all it does is check stock levels, none of the other features that were built into the original site. It may not last long depending on what happens with my hosting, and if Argos plays up with constant pings. To reduce the number of stores people are checking, I've split the checker into regions.

that's super The Rona, thanks a mill for the effort
Wow amazing to see it up and running again love the geographical splits for multiple area search.
Great to see it back up and running! Love the retro style :)
A few years ago I also uploaded the code from the "new" version (2015 ish) to github if its any use, its a lot more complicated/messy than the PHP version though.
