How are they complying with the EUs Fifth Package of Sanctions which prohibits Russian ships from docking (there is no exemption for previously made agreements), unless they are only being allowed dock in areas not under effective control of the Government of the Republic as EU law and sanctions does not apply in such areas of Cyprus?
Well i dont speak russian so hard to tell
Thanks Wibbs, better worded then I could .. The whole things is quite baffling indeed and an escalation. However I found it an escalation already when the Russians cut the gas supply with some ridiculous reasoning, when everyone knew this was used as blackmail
How the fcuk should anyone know if they dont speak Russian
The very negative Russian reaction to partial mobilisation (mass exodus by air and border crossings and protests, with those in the Russian Far East, oft led by women whose husbands die in this war, the most effective) does hold out some hope of an end to this horrifying war. Putin has run of out slaves for his horde. Gas brinkmanship and meddling is only making Europe freeze in Margaret Simonyan's (editor in chief of RT) mind. These probable acts of terrorism against the pipeline seem an escalation in a new direction, and if Russian involvement is verified, it won't matter for Russia's reputation is in the toilet anyhow.
If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck etc., it's a duck. And Russia is by far the most likely saboteur of the pipeline infrastructure, even if it's looks to be a bit mad.
OSLO, Sept 26 (Reuters) - Norway's Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) on Monday urged oil companies to be more vigilant over unidentified drones seen flying near Norwegian offshore oil and gas platforms, warning they could pose a risk of accidents or deliberate attacks...Newspaper Stavanger Aftenblad reported last week that unidentified drones had been observed at least at six Equinor installations, including at its giant oilfield Johan Sverdrup.
Last Tuesday, a drone was observed some 50 meters away from Equinor's Heidrun platform in the North Sea, breaching the 500-metre security perimeter, the newspaper reported.
"There have been observations of drones at some of our installations on the Norwegian continental shelf," a spokesperson for Equinor told Reuters, declining to elaborate...
Drones have been also observed near Kristin, Gullfaks C, Snorre A and Gina Krog installations, Aftenbladet reported.

Well isn't that interesting.
Its NS2 he is talking about ... did they do a buy one get one free thing ?
And thanks to that, otherwise there would be a referendum tomorrow where you live to vote for joining ruSSland.
Think , American tapped Russian undersea Cables for a 25 years period and the Russians knew nothing until someone let it slip two + decades in
They have the means and know-how to do it ,
I think it was a general threat we will end it , regardless wether it be one or two.
Lol yes hybrid warfare coming our way
I watched a few minutes of that and my first thoughts from my time working in branding/packaging... it either Rollexx type products, or actual fakes to look like the real thing, but aren't... and of course Russia will rip off brands - China has been doing it for years.
And how do you know this?
Do you have the inside embassy track?
We have new suspect......
🦭🦭🦭
Break a leg to avoid going to Ukraine
What you think is not what he said ... NS2 wasnt operational at that time.... NS 1 was supplying Europe with much needed gas.
What you are basically saying is that Biden threaten to cut off gas supply to Europe if Russia would invade Ukraine. That doesnt make sense now does it
So more Russian spin from the Russian "Real Reporter" who hangs around and is supported by ex heads of far right European groups trained and welcomed by Mother Russia? M'kay... Remarkable how slick his productions are when he's only got 9k subs...
I have found in even everyday life, how you spot if something is worrying someone and they deny it, they never shut up about it. If sanctions weren't working and worrying the Russian leadership it wouldn't get a tenth of the airtime it does.
There's one thing for sure, regardless of the battlefield or the wider economics; Russian spin and propaganda is painfully inept, amateur hour and obvious compared to the Ukrainian and western stuff. I suppose when one's people are so used to being bullshítted for a century and either buy it 100% or just ignore it(or you're aiming at US MAGA types who think Tucker Carson is clever)the propagandists don't have to improve.
Posted this last night, but there is supposed to be worse videos doing the rounds
That makes more sense 🤣 👍️
I agree with you, it makes things simpler for the Germans especially - no Russian gas for a long time so let's get this war won.
Perhaps it's a rap on the knuckles for them too, I suspect more was expected of them, and quicker too.
It certainly appears to give the EU more of an incentive to step up more and forget about "gas brownie points".
Hmm.. am I wrong in thinking that Cyprus is part of the EU? How or why could Cyprus be signing agreements with Russia for their navy assets?
That seems unconscionable given the current EU stance on Russian military adventures.
From putin's perspective, gas to europe was already off the table while he was alive/in power, this makes it far more difficult for a successor to reverse that decision, it feels more like a cultural revolution type step than anything else.
Cyprus has seen a lot of russian money invested in the last few years along with Greece especially in property and hotels ,there was a deal done to allow Russian military ships to dock in Cyprus despite objections from the British who happen to be based there too
The very point I made a few posts back, it is contrary to EU sanctions, however, EU law (and so the sanctions) only applies to areas in Cyprus where the Government of the Republic has effective control.
Whatever about the UK who've left the EU, I presume Cyprus enjoys benefits of EU membership. Surely offering port facilities to Russian ships is far from necessary and quite contrary to EU stance on this war. How have they got away with this? Perhaps the arrangement is for commercial Russian shipping but Greenpilot above is suggesting the Russians have navy assets around their waters as well.
Sorry, missed your post. I presume the Greek part of Cyprus is under EU rules. But the Turkish part is also in EU as far as I understand, so are the Turks playing both sides?
Here's an article from 2015 about an agreement Russia signed with Cyprus on the navy's use of the country's ports:
A quote from Putin in it:
"Our friendly ties aren't aimed against anyone," President Putin said. "I don't think it should cause worries anywhere."
That aged well!
Cyprus this week claimed that there's no new deal, and that existing deals with Russia go back to 1996 (not that I would agree that this is an excuse as to why they're still in play):
Ioannis Kasoulides said it goes back to 1996 and denied reports that Russia wants to establish its own military base on the island.
Obviously with the control that Turkey have over warships using the Turkish Straights under the 1936 Montreux Convention - and the fact that they've already said that they won't let Russian ships pass under article 19 while the war is ongoing - Russia are keen to get some kind of naval support structure in the Mediterranean (they already have Syria).
Cyprus really shouldn't be let away with shrugging their shoulders and saying "but we already agreed, there's nothing we can do..."
Stuff like brand name jeans, Ikea and McDonalds are irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.
The sanctions that really bite are the blocking of imports of the components that Russia needs for its greater economy and war machine:
Sure there are work arounds, substitutes and back channels but all of that comes at a cost whether it be quality, efficiency or availability.
Easy on there horse. No need to break out into an angry rant.
So you think the sanctions are working? That's great, you're entitled to your opinion...
I'm not so sure myself. I haven't made my mind up one way or the other... the picture doesn't look as clear to me right now. But I guess we'll find out in a few years how things unfold.
