Widening of the tax band and help for renters and bills are the main items by the looks of it.
How will this year's budget affect you?
lots of goodies for us layabouts 😁
That simply cannot be correct.
So, when is the election?
Changing to mileage and omissions based. Using the 2022 example on Revenue, doing over 48001km business mileage comes in at 6% of OMV. In 2023 depending on the CO2 emissions of the car (assuming around 99-139g/km), the same mileage will jump to 12% of OMV. Assuming a 50k car, the monthly BIK will now be €500 instead of €250, so actual cost to you will double to roughly €250/month from €125/month.
I'm lucky in that I have a commercial, it is going from 5% to 8%. So I'll be paying around €150/month from next year as opposed to the €95 I pay now.
Haha I know what BIK stands for, I’m asking how they been changed.
yeah I wonder though if they collect the child benefit every month..
if you can’t stand welfare handouts, stop taking them.
ah but sure, I’m entitled I suppose.
**** off.
Its better than here isn't it if you earn more than 40k Euro a year, which is close to average earnings.
Feck - I actually really need to look into my BIK, know very little about it to my shame.
I have a hybrid provided by my company, I’m a travelling salesman too so I would hope it counts as commercial!
A pensioner couple with income of 80K can get fuel allowance, while a minumum wage worker can't. A Joke....
In fairness, there is little to criticise. It's a good thing to give citizens money to pay energy costs, rather than paying private companies directly money with a price cap as in UK.
That's €200 weekly.
Anyway, I’m happy enough.
more power to folks on the welfare especially the elderly and disabled, they really could do with the bonus money their getting. Happy to see it.
im curious about the free schoolbooks for kids in primary, how does that work if you’ve already paid for your book rental? 🤔
it’s welcomed, definitely, but not much use to people a month after school started?
The free schoolbooks won't start until next year i.e. September 2023. This year is not part of it.
It was the same last year; I don't think it will move the opinion polls much, however.
Yes, it is not correct.
Here are the GMS rates:
See page 22
A GP gets 150 - 176 pa per patient aged between 45-69
Collecting the dole and not working at all are two different things .
Edit - qouted wrong comment - should have Been the 80k pension comment. - edit
That’s some pension. Anyone know the average / median pension ?
Yeah came up earlier in the thread , I was way wide of the mark there. Figure I was thinking of was in relation to something else.
Why would a 2 story cost €500k to build?
€250 per sq. foot is a generous finish, meaning you would be building 2,000 sq. ft, which is a large house by any standards.
For a standard finish on a normal semi-d, you could be looking at half that cost.
Can someone tell me please as I am a little confused, when they say there will be a 500 euro one off payment to those who receive Carer's allowance and Domiciliary allowance does this mean if you receive both of these is it just one 500 euro.
Also the Carer's support grant which was the Respite grant, did they say it would be 500 euro one off payment for this
What a sham "giveaway" budget, throwing money around during an inflationary period with no solution's to the systemic issues in housing and energy.
Just on the rent relief tax credit.
I rent from a family member under the rent-a-room scheme. The amount is under the threshold. Do they still need to be registered with RTB in order for me to receive the tax credit?
It's not a wild "giveaway" budget as people are claiming. A lot of it was one off measures and it also includes €6bn being put into the rainy day fund over the next year which is very positive. Think it was fairly well balanced to be honest.
You lumped America and UK together is the point. Two completely different countries.
500,000 children live in relative poverty here.
I am talking a 2800sqft house but the point is if the maths behind it are right? What portion of a house cost does concrete make up
We don't know yet. You had to have a bona-fide tenancy agreement under the last scheme https://www.revenue.ie/en/personal-tax-credits-reliefs-and-exemptions/land-and-property/rent-credit/index.aspx
We don't know yet but I'd say it'll only be for full RTB tenancies.
I heard Leo answering a similar question and he suggested that they wouldn't be eligible. Doesn't seem to apply to licensee/rent a room renters.
Still not 100% clear but looks that way.
Pearse seems very agitated on Drivetime
We need fewer cars on the road, not different cars. Public funds shouldn’t be subsidising private cars.
