Widening of the tax band and help for renters and bills are the main items by the looks of it.
How will this year's budget affect you?
Pearse the Moaner on now.. must be pleased to get his spake in first as opposition.
Here come the shinners to sh1t all over it. Time to turn off.
Absolute insanity.
So the only people that will pay for the mica rebuilds are new renters and home buyers - it will drive up the build costs which will be passed onto renters/buyers.
If rents were low and house prices dropping one could make an argument for it but given the current market it is insanity.
I had a look at that tax calculator and it looks like I'll be no better off tax wise - on a salary of 34k and my spouse on a 21k pension.
That calculator doesn't seem to take in the USC changes, this one does

The majority of our taxes don't come from multinationals.
I'm surprised with this one, TBH. I know a lot of people in the public sector who are waiting to see this budget to decide on their vote on the pay deal.
Not seeing this swing people to a yes.
Although I imagine that the unions would prefer a close called "Yes" vote to give them a stronger mandate for next year's negotiations
Pearse wandering off now on Bóithrín na Smaointe........
Do the tax changes start next month or January? thanks.
Is the increases in tax bands etc going to be implemented immediately or January as usual?
Pearse and his fina foil pronunciation does my head in, as for the bits as gaielge give me a break
FFGG have gone full Sinn Féin on this budget.
January I would think. That's the way it's always been.
Clue is in the name. Budget 2023.
In fairness, the cost of blocks and readymix concrete are a relatively small proportion of any build. Will also impact commercial construction as well.
But someone has to pay for the Homes of Donegal. And you won't hear Pearse here giving out about this measure.
Thankfully his speech isn't targeted at the "Tee shaaaahh"...
So if you receive the fuel allowance you will receive 400 euro extra lump sum,is this in cash.
And everyone gets 600 towards electric bill.
1000 extra for some for heat and light or fags and beer.
Then another double dole payment on top with and increase of 12 euro per week.
Not bad for some.
No need for the smart a** answer seeing as a lot of them changes are happening through the next couple of months
Yes we will see. Our macro financial position is the strongest in Europe.
We are on a different planet from a prudence point of view compared to 2008.
Not really when you've stuff kicking in for the one off payments in 2022,
Anything about removing the €5k grant towards purchasing an EV, which is not needed in a time of demand far and away exceeding supply
Very good budget. Best one in years. I for one am very happy with that.
I think it had something for everyone.
Don't see how anyone could complain about it.
Carbon taxes going up 12th October I heard.
I look forward to writing to our local Green TD.
And the fags will go up tonight.
Don't worry, you'll have people moaning. However, most people will have done ok.
Of course they are but there isn't exactly much wiggle room when the tax payments are so low (17.5% or less). What rate of tax would you be happy with? In other countries in Europe you would pay more than 17.5% tax on a salary of €37,000. The country has to be funded somehow, everyone should contribute something. The electricity credits are universal.
too much for the spoofers and not enough for middle ireland. Still, happy enough here with the cut offs increasing. Annoyed that they didnt remove the 5k grant for EVs
It's a ShinnerBgone budget. Might even work, for a while.
Are you kidding the pay rises for the Public sector are costing 2.4 Billion. The tax payer got 1.1 billion in tax reduction measures and the public sector also got the reductions of these tax measures. So in effect the public sector worker is 3 times better off. If they don't vote yes they should be let strike and leave them out there, once again they are cushioned like the last recession.
You pay very little tax between the pair of you, what do you want the budget to do for you?
