This is a huge package of reliefs. While I personally like more money in my pocket, it's genuinely hard to see how this give away budget is in any way prudent.

I'd be up in arms about it myself. I've had a spinal problem for 14months, can't get in to see a GP without playing some kind of mental version of Red Rover against the team of receptionist guard dogs. Give more free GP care and it will be even harder to get to see anyone. They're already giving diagnoses via telephone call, for symptoms that would have required a physical exam a couple of years ago, add more patients and they're gonna be trying to diagnose patients telepathically!

I don't buy bootleg smokes, it's perfectly legit Belgian tobacco. And at 20e for 50g it's a no brainer, I won't allow one single cent to go to this government for them. They clearly want the black market to flourish anyway because increases like this are just pointless at this stage.

Without taking into account the USC changes, my partner earns over 40k and will be 107 euro better off while I, on 33k, will be only 54 euro better off. We will both receive the renters credit.
So anyone on 40k plus will receive roughly twice as much as all those on less than 37k.

Someone you know has to pay to rebuild all the fancy gaffs in Donegal, done on the cheap by cowboy builders... And that someone is the public paying for new builds elsewhere or getting work done. Mad idea to offer them lads 'redress', they should have been offered a long term loan scheme like 'Fair Deal', recoverable over time and on death of occupants.
