My guess is that 99.5 is usually a better frequency except for those occasions when it’s handed over for a temp station (Freedom FM in this instance).
102.5 is quite badly compromised by sitting between two high powered signals (102.2/102.7) plus Ocean FM on the same channel from Sligo.
Good point plus there’s a station in Edenderry (Eden FM) that kick up whenever a pirate pops up on that frequency.
I believe Eden FM have previously reported pirates to COMREG
Eden FM not listed on BAI web site as a current temp - although that's not always 100% up to date. Pirates previously on 102.5 had a very different signal pattern at the time.

That is mad alright if true. If it is Joe Doyle, he was involved in the pirate scene off and on for 20+years before finally leaving that scene!
No sign of energy 144O so far this weekend (unless they are on but with greatly reduced power? ), however tonight I am getting the other Dublin MW/ AM operator on 1494 (another fairly clear channel at night) with 1980s music

I was led to believe in another thread that Freedom FM will be on 105.2 in Dublin. Of course 99.5 FM might be another transmitter for another geographical area (Bray maybe?) - they will be covering a number of locations around Ireland.
I did not know that there was another Dublin operator on MW in the last 20 years - it has never come up on the Bandscan for Dublin stations AFAIK. How long has this station on 1494kh, or any other MW frequency, been around and what kind of music does it play?
Without giving too much away, I know that someone connected to Energy Power AM (on 1440 kh) has recently been involved with a legal radio operation. Maybe that is affecting the operation of Energy.
1494 was loud and clear all afternoon, except for a few dropouts. I even heard an Apollo 1 Discount Store advert.

Late last night (Sat) it put out a recording of the original Nova in the 1980s. A few weeks ago when I last heard it, they had recording of Dublin's NRG 103 from later in the 1980s
Not getting Ice Radio on FM today in Dublin. Web site and social media also deleted.
stream is still up though, live dj on at the moment.

That would be because ICE were raided by COMREG yesterday morning. The entire TX site was cleared, including the antenna systems.
I wondered what had happened alright. It was only a matter of time given that they were on 24/7, especially during weekdays.
Strong signal on 99.5 this evening in Dublin. Was relaying Classic Hits for a while and is blank (stereo, no RDS) at the moment.
FREED0M testing on FM this evening with music, for this temporary licence, audible in much of the country,,,
BTW good DX conditions on FM too tonight with distant BBCs etc audible in some areas

The 105.2 is extremely loud, which is expected given it's location. There's 8 sites lined up nationally.
Would anyone have a source for RDS PI codes used in Ireland ?
Searched the BAI website but couldn't find anything so who assigns them ?

You wouldn’t find them on any official website bar the RTE ones which are on the ComReg site (R1 - 2201, 2fm - 2202, Lyric - 2203, RnaG - 2204)
http://www.fmscan.org has a fairly accurate list of them for your location if you put in where you are
Thanks for that. It does show the PI's currently set for our station but it's the default one set on our encoder.
Was hoping to find the code that was assigned to us by the BAI. So what I'm hoping for is a list of Irish stations and their officially assigned PI's ?
Does such a list even exist ? Searched Comreg and BAI sites but no joy.
Suggest you contact the BAI. They will forward request to ComReg if they don't know the answer. I presume this is some local/community station - maybe St Ita's Hospital Radio?

Is FreeDAB currently on the air in Dublin? Got a DAB radio this morning but not receiving them in Dublin 14 …
Presumbaly FreeDAB was raided. The signal was never consistent or strong with dropouts every few minutes.
Although I can’t be certain, I think they may have decided to call it a day? Given that the BAI are determined to protect the existing monopolies by keeping new players off the field, it makes it pretty pointless with no prospect of a licensed service.
A single-frequency station in ROI is going to have an RDS PI allocated begin with 20** (in case you think you were given it and have it noted somewhere!)
I recall when Community Radio Youghal (104.0) first put on RDS they got allocated the same PI code already in use for the hopital station in Cork city (1O2.O) . Reports of car radio jump from one to the other around east fringes of Cork city (where both would be useable on a car radio.) The bai did subsequently change the PI code on 1O2.O after this was found to be an issue.
I listened to the launch of Freedom on FM for this year on mixcloud (link above) - they actually announced their RDS PI code (20C4) in their opening - that must be a first! (20C4 has been used for the other multi-area temporary stations too)
