Ah sure, they'll be lining up here soon enough. To lecture us on respecting democracy.
IF and it's very big if the Xi rumours are true its very strange and worrisome timing given how delicate the situation is in the world right now.
Was only musing in the Covid thread today about how strange it is that China remains so draconian on the virus whilst the rest of the planet moves on. Yes i have covid at the moment 😫
Back when Russia invaded Crimea, there were loads of people on this very website using the referendum result to justify Crimea's annexation. Many still do to this day.
What might be obvious to you or me or anyone who's not completely thick isn't necessarily obvious to those who are a bit simple or as the say back home (translated) "touched by God's hand". Some people see the boxes and then see the things going into the boxes and think to themselves "Wow. That look like vote". They miss out on the little subtleties like the guns pointed at voters or the excess number of votes compared to the population.
So, in response to your last line; yes, you will absolutely get some idiots, most likely the ones who are dumber than most idiots, claiming that it was legitimate and it might even happen in this very thread.
Oh, I'm pretty sure that you will find motivated applicants, it's the % 's I'm not so sure about. On the Russian propaganda TV channel, they said that already 10'000 Chechens had volunteered, on the 1st day... now that's something I would take with a pinch of salt, and as for trained conscripts, the ones who have already done their 2 year military service and know what the Russian Military is like, ( but who have not been on active service ) Personally, I can't see any mad headlong rush back into uniform, especially with Ukraine being the destination. By now, I'd say that ordinary Russians know full well what's happening in Ukraine. And as for "experienced" soldiers and officers ( who have already have been in Ukraine) I can't see too many of them being that anxious to return there either. I knew several ex- Afghan and Ex Chechnya veterans, and not a hope would they willingly go back into uniform again, ever. They would be well past it by now, age-wise..( at least I hope that they will be !!! but with Putin, you never know..) Some of what's being posted on twitter etc. showing actual military units picking up recruit's is not very encouraging to say the least. May God help them. The amount of eligible males trying to escape the draft tells its own story, and speaks volumes.
Even if China moved forces in to protect native Chinese, Siberia is so vast and sparsely-populated that China could never really take over Siberia. It would be a hell of a logistical operation just to get to the major population closer to China.
It's one thing for Russia to threaten nukes over Ukraine, when we all know that Russia's claim on that country's territory is gossamer-thin. China moving in on territory which is internationally-accepted as Russian would be another matter, and if Russia was hurting for conventional military forces to prevent such an invasion, it would then likely be all the more willing to use the only trump card it had at that point. But China is a country who likes to do business with other countries and so moving in on another country's sovereign territory would be a marked shift in foreign policy since they've really emerged as a world power from the late 80s onward.
He actually deleted his Twitter account straight after the invasion but then reinstated it in March. He posted some mealy mouthed tweets then but subsequently deleted those too. He's been sanctioned by the UK since then. Couldn't happen to a nicer gob$h1te.......
It's going to happen.
I remember every one from the last time.
Boards are full of these recently registered only looking for the truth they don't have a clue whats going on but it's everyone else's fault, nato were planning to invade Russia first yada yada yada
US estimates puts their sea lift capability at 25k troops, 20x less than what's needed to invade Taiwan. That excludes tanks etc...
So they definitely need to build their landing ships up but they are focusing on destroyers and aircraft carriers, so they are obviously in no major rush to invade. Otherwise they would be focusing on building them.
Russia used to do this too, all their civilian passenger ships, ferries etc. were built to military spec and carried the paint to redo them in the Russian navy colour scheme
Best and brightest being mobilised
Claims of Russians fleeing the country debunked as fake news.
But the us estimates said china couldn't build 5 destroyer over a number of years, they built 51 , landing craft and amphibious assault vessels are less technically advanced and could be in theory produced fairly quickly,
But with the current level of firepower they wouldn't need landing craft they already have the ability to level most taiwanese cities,
I just hope they are more paper tigers all numbers but no real ability to fight a war
He didn't believe that ladas don't have airbags anymore so decided to prove them wrong.
But you can't dismiss anything the US says based upon a single miscalculation on China's capacity to build destroyers etc...
If they plan on going the Russia route, then you're correct, they don't need a single boot on the ground, they could just level Taiwan to a rock in the sea.
If the China thing is a thing.
It's worth noting China owns half of the worlds stock of grain and has been buying farmland across the globe and building up it's supply of food in storage in China to now record levels.
Yeah the sooner Taiwan get the hardware they need the better.
You can check the real time data flow of NS1, nothing through it since September 3rd.
You should bookmark this post for the day one of them comes into this thread to claim just that!
I didn't know that now. Cheers.
And rapidly becoming the biggest military in the world.
They prefer to negotiate as good law abiding world leaders, but yes they Also own half the worlds stock or grain and rapidly increasing it's control over foreign agriculture too,
One they will use a soft gloved hand approach while holding a steel spiked glove over your head
It's weird that the China thing is talked about here or random twitter threads but not seeing anything on Reddit.
This is a presidents answer to the news that their enemy is mobilising 300,000 conscripts.
Amazing he has the time.
The journal 😂😂😂
Yet only 24 hours later
It's a weird one alright.
Bit a of distraction from the usual suspects
The Head of International Affairs Unit at the Finnish Border Guard, Matti Pitkaniitty, tweeted that the “situation at Finnish Russian border is normal, both at green border and in border traffic”.
Has he got a job at the journal now also?
Mike drop at the UN yesterday,
They still haven't released the clip of lavrov running away
More like claims of debunking of claims of Russians fleeing the country debunked as fake news.
How did you manage to make the leap from a story about specific videos being misattributed as the Russian-Finnish border to claiming that "Russians fleeing the country" is fake news?
It would be very surprising if a large amount of military age man were trying to escape through Finland because first, they would already need to be in possession of a Schengen visa and, second, they would need a bona fide reason to get around the recent restrictions Finland imposed on Schengen visa holders from Russia.
Russians are heading for countries where they don't need a visa. Georgia and Kazakhstan by road, and the same countries plus Armenia and Turkey if by air. I just checked the real time traffic for a number of border crossings from the most populous Russian cities in the vicinity of the border with Kazakhstan. Bear in mind that it's the middle of the night there but still the shortest queue is 4.6km and the longest is 7.6km. Into Georgia from Vladikavkaz it's currently 15km long.
Here you go:-
I think you mean that claims about 35km queues into finland have been debunked. It debunks some tweets that exaggerated the queues. The article doesn't claim that Russians fleeing the country was debunked, as you're suggesting. There's a huge difference.
I don't know who was making those claims but the information I had was that the queues were double the usual into Finland, that there was airline surcharging due to excessive demand and that the queues into Georgia could be measured in kilometres.
