Stupid as the Russians seem to be, they are not so stupid that they won't calculate what the consequences of a nuclear attack on Ukraine would be for Russia. And their calculations won't find anything positive.

Seems a lot less protesting yesterday than there was at the start of the war which is depressing. Also looks like it's completely fizzling out today. Doesn't seem like Russians are as opposed to the mobilisation as i would have hoped 😥
As repulsive as the Russian invasion is, I do feel a certain sympathy for these people too. A lot of them are probably totally indifferent to the war and just trying to get by from day to day. It's the sons of the Duma people and the cheerleaders in state media who should be sent there first. Instead it's always the poor and educated who are sent to die.
As for reports that known opponents of the war, people who were arrested for protesting back in spring, are being called up - that's sheer sadism

No I watched the whole general assembly meeting today but they didn't show him leaving they go around the table after he spoke with his rediculous claims but when the Ukrainan minister spoke and the camera panned over to Russia lavrov was gone with another older Russian was sitting there
It's a debate that has been ongoing since 1991, but time to declare Russia as the Successor State to the USSR as opposed to the Continuing State of the USSR, there's a reason why the UN Charter has never changed to recognise Russia as a P5 member (it still lists the USSR in the Charter), after the Alma-Atta Protocol it just seemed to become the status quo, with lawyers and legal scholars debating the issue ever since, it has never been resolved legally.
Sounds like everyday politics to me.
I don't agree that we got gas from Russia to "save the planet". These gas deals were made by businessmen because they made sense to them financially. Peterson is usually good but he sometimes goes outside his remit.
I also think Putin IS a Hitler. He is an invader and megalomaniac who allows all kinds of evil if it helps him get what he wants. He is the only real Hitler in Europe since Hitler.
Used to listen a lot to Peterson when he first entered the scene but I find it tough to listen to him now. He makes a lot of sense at times but he is way overexposed. I don't think he's a right wing nut but he will thread the line of saying something border line very sensationalist on a sensitive topic very important to many people but will be vague enough to leave himself enough wiggle room to explain it away when the poop hits the fan.
The video above is a classic example. "Everybody has a bit of Hilter in them" I've heard him say this before and his point is that if your were living in Germany in the 40's under Hitlers rule that you would have possibly fallen in line too, ie everybody has the propensity for evil. "What is in it for the West?" He goes on to say Ukraine in ruins isn't much of a victory, well he's correct here. There are no winners here, many innocent men women and children dead and the seeds sown for generational hate between citizens of Ukraine and Russia to last decades long after this war ends is no kind of victory.
Peterson is intelligent and he loves the limelight and knows how to keep his name relevant but the more I listen to him lately the less speeches of substance I hear.
by all accounts putin is planning to mobilise approx a million soldiers .. the 300k is only for appeasement optics back home..

Sweden doesn't yet have a new government, when it does it will not be a far right government. It will likely be led by the centre right and have some far right ministers as it will be a coalition.

I don't think there is any chance they will have the money to grind anyone down. The cold war ended in the defeat of the USSR because the US outspent them. (Communism not working, also helped.)

I think it's full mobilisation in the impoverished ethnic Republics and the far-eastern oblasts. Partial mobilisation for oblasts near Moscow and St Petersburg. Basically they're trying to thread a fine line between maximising the number of warm bodies they can throw into Ukraine while at the same time minimising the threat to the Kremlin from a domestic backlash.

Used to like him, he talks a lot of sense on some things, but am increasingly questioning his motives.
Dunno why his views on the war are more relevant than anyone else’s.
It's very telling how you are prophesising doom for Ukraine and the EU but neglect to make any predictions for Russia.
