Dead right..many stories highlighting NGO's bring kids in or people lookin for Twitter likes will get you a pm from the moderators. There's a massive pro Ukrianinan lobby in the media and board.ie is part of it.

The country was at breaking point regarding housing before the Ukrianinans came and now its gone beyond that. Inviting people in to sleep in tent's when they could be housed in other EU countries.

Inviting unlimited Ukrianinans in to access full state benefits when a recession is happening is a complete joke and need's to end.

Among those affected are Yulia Kupets, her husband Dmytro Popov and their sons aged nine and five. Mr Popov travelled with his family on March 14th as their older son has special needs. They were relocated to Portlaoise on March 28th.

“We like Portlaoise. We are successful in integrating here,” said Ms Kupets on Wednesday. “My sons go to school and my husband has work as a bike mechanic. Yesterday we got this letter which will set the life we have back to zero. We feel very sad. We feel destroyed and lost.

“It feels like the first day of the war. We don’t know anything about where we will be tomorrow.”

Her husband would have to leave his job, while her older son would not now benefit from the special needs assistant allocated to his Portlaoise school to support him from next month. In addition, he said, the family would be split as she and the older son are to be placed in one cottage with a family, and Mr Popov with their younger son in another cottage with another family.

“We tried to find a house for ourselves in Portlaoise to rent but it is impossible,” says Ms Kupets. “I don’t know how I will cope without the support of my husband. We will not be able to sit at the table together in the evening to ask about the day. It is very painful and stressful.”

Karen McHugh, chairwoman of support group Laois Integration Network (LIN), described the situation as “crazy”.

You gave a GNP figure I presume from this year. I simply asked if this is artificial growth as maybe not back to pre pandemic levels. It's akin to saying we lost 100k jobs in that time. And now we have regained 20k. But still not back up to the pre level of 100k.

Why would it be artificial growth? We had a V shaped recovery since last year, that has tapered off now as it had to and because of material and energy prices, but there is continued growth.

The figure is from 2 weeks ago, we are currently at record employment numbers. With the lowest employment numbers in over 2 decades.

We are not in recession, the claim is completely false, again none of this is my opinion. So frankly again I have no idea how any of your questions are relevant to what was claimed.

Because if the economy shrinks by 7% say and you only grow 2.1% you're still negative. You would need to grow the 7% back then actually have real growth. I was just asking about the headline GNP. Or are we suggesting starting from 0 every time ?

The Government's policy needs to end. Time they admit their mistake as this is only going to end one way. The Ireland helping Ukraine page is still full of people looking for accommodation who are/are not here yet. The Government is effectively bringing them here to add to the homeless list.

But its not for no reason, the reason is that there is no longer space for these people here in Ireland.

They tried to rent in Portlaoise, they couldn't. The alternative is that 2 very gracious hosts are willing to take in 2 each. They should be grateful they dont have to sleep rough like the many many people who do it every night in the cities.

I would sympathise with them on than point, however I read earlier of a mother protesting outside the Dail as her 7 old special needs child hasn't got a school place at all. She hasn't received as much publicity.

However, there are no indications of how many people have returned to Ukraine due to a lack of data available.

How someone please explain that one to me. Were told they check to see if your staying in the place you stay now they can't even say if people have left and retain benefits.
