What is an 18 month old bullock worth that was born alongside the heifers and reared with them? We're always being told there is no money on them.
still only the price of a 2 year old bullock. And lads @ the beef game say they make no profit.
Depends on weight, breed, HE/Fr 450kg 950- 1000 Fr ( big range from British Fr to holstein 700 - 900 )
Saw a few jersey Holstein cross in calf heifers on donedeal. Don't know the figures yet. My bf and PR could do with a lift. Is there anyway back if I cross the Rubicon? The calves are the problem. Though some of these high ebi HF. Ain't great either
Could you see the cows they came out of? What mature weight are they? Might give an idea of what type of calf they’d have
High EBi = small cow
Hol x Fr bred using the aAa matrix is a balanced animal.
Their maintenance figure should give you a good idea of their weight
You can have high EBI with a low maintenance figure
Another sensor gone in the packo tank today
That tank has gave some bother. You may have said before, but what age is that tank?
6 years old now. Have a new one ordered
Those Packo tanks sensors go on me at least once a year. 4 years old. Screen went blank one Friday evening and was waiting days for a replacement as they didn’t work after 5 or weekends which I I found very annoying, do they not know what their selling. What brand are you getting next? I don’t know if Packo exist anymore but I won’t buy off them again.
I'm going for another packo. Apparently they've changed alot from when I bought. Got a good deal on a new one. I have the bulk tank maintenance thing with glanbia so service and parts are covered.
Are fullwood packo not gone in to liquidation?
Some parts are not available ATM I'm hearing company not releasing any parts and are in trouble . They give some bother I'd run a mile . What brand of parlour you putting in ?

I’d also go with those views. My service man recommended liscarroll even though he had some arrangement with Packo. I’d go with any bulk tank that could send a text if something was wrong. Are you going bigger and are grants still available?

No full wood messed me around for about 4 months, then the announcement came out they were ceasing milking parlours.
Pearson priced me a liscarroll. It was fairly expensive tbh. I have the service contract and the guy is 💯. Packo is alot cheaper and it's 15,500 litres. Tank I have is 10,500. I'm going very basic on new tank. Wash on packo is great in fairness
Packo wash is spotless and it does cool v quick in the mornings and hardly ever comes on during the day, never any issues with those aspects. Good luck with it.
Have a dairycool here, last 2 years has been good. Was giving the odd trouble here and there. Cools fast, must have it 10 yrs now
Can't beat Mueller imo. My co op recommends 30 litres per cow and 3.5 day collection when sizing a new tank.
Dairymaster tank here, doing the job fine. Had to change the detergent pumps this year after 7 years other than that nothing else so far touch wood.
20 unit Pearson here with removers, auto wash and cluster flush. Very happy with it
The protein sale is on in Kanturk tomorrow. Gave a quick look at the catalogue earlier and it didn't blow me away. Alot of stock bull stuff I thought. 90ish lots I think which is alot. Should be a good barometer of the market.
