Therefore so should everyone else?
The fewer countries with nuclear weapons, the unequivocally better it is.
It's interesting how a comment of mine, written partly in jest ( as those who know me here, I know a thing about all things military), on nuclear sea mines ( yes, they are a thing) back in March sometime, has grown legs to such extent, that it's melting the poor brains of many, on this insignificant, purely hypothetical, message board thread.
Let it be a lesson to you all!
1. Don't dismiss something purely because it sounds too fantastical to be true
2. Don't believe everything you read because it sounds too fantastical to be false!
3. Hi Weisses ;)
I’ve been to Hiroshima - and the museum there. Believe me the loss of life, the suffering and horrible deaths thousands of people went through, the after effects the nuclear bomb had on the city and area will stay with you for life. No one can take a chance on nuclear bombs. They are catastrophic.
Ukraine should let all these new russian soldiers know that they can come fight for them, and be treated 100 times better, I bet most would take that offer up. They should really push for them to surrender and live, rather than to fight and die for Putin.
Belarus acceded to the nuclear non-proliferation treaty (NPT) in 1993.
In February of this year, Belarus abandoned the NPT at the behest of their masters Russia.
You can't talk about the importance of keeping to global agreements without first recognising that it's Russia that keep breaking them first.
One of those welding robots used for operating on deep sea pipelines would do the job too
nuclear mines is an absurd premise
Meanwhile outside of the dail
Might explain why they need nuclear landmines that were 5000 times more powerful than traditional landmines,
Why maim one soldier when you can maim and kill hundreds.
None of which has anything to do with the current situation in Ukraine
250g of a high explosive like C4 or a nuclear weapon, such a tough choice.
I would argue that nuclear non-proliferation is never a bad idea.
You can not attempt to have global agreements if you do not intend to follow them when it is inconvenient to you. The fewer countries with nukes the better. Unless you would like to see a massive proliferation of nuclear armed nations as that seems a likely outcome if the US starts openly arming its allies.
Live webcam from St.Petersburg. There's an hours footage missing between 4pm and 5pm on the clock in the right hand corner. But when the recorded footage at 5 is shown there's two army troop trucks parked up and now police with flashing lights behind.
I think he may well be a Russian agent.
Those agreements are not fit for purpose in the current situation or the present state the world is in. I believe quite a few countries should withdraw their assent to those agreements, such as Australia, Taiwan South Korea, and of course Ukraine. With Russia going rogue nuclear non proliferation is actually a bad idea. China has been taking notes, I am sure.
Nuclear sea mines? - what is the point in them? Surely conventional mines would work, without the cost?
If I wanted to mine a cable, I wouldn't go to the bother of nuking it. A simple, localised blast would do the job.
Chernobyl is teaming with wildlife because there are no humans there. No mystery. Has biodiversity recovered yet?
Chernobyl zone shows decline in biodiversity - BBC News
What worries me about this escalation, is that there could be a mistake with the nukes. Someone, somewhere, on either side could let one off.
Breaking Nuclear Non Proliferation agreements when it suits you is probably not the best way to go about things.
There are currently a lot of pictures and videos circulating on social media, where it is said that there is a lot of traffic going to the Finnish border from Russia. We are talking about car queues of up to 35 kilometers, which grow hour by hour.
However, the command center of the Southeastern Finland border guard told Iltalehte early in the evening that the situation is normal.
- What kind of border are those pictures from? There has been normal afternoon traffic in Vaalimaa and Nuijamaa. The queues don't even reach the border of the kingdom. And at Imatra, the queue is not even 50 meters long, Iltalehte is told.
- Here the phones are always hot and I don't know where this information comes from, the control center adds.
FR 24 shows a TU 214 SR doing circles south of St Petersburg. Maybe this has been a regular occurance but at time it circles right up to the Estonian frontier (within 1km or so). A contrast to the distance which NATO aircraft keep from any possible bother near Ukraine.
Is Vlad trying some sort of provocation?
Oh, for goodness sake, talk about scaremongering:
This is Hiroshima:
This is Nagasaki:
The exclusion zone of Chernobyl is teeming with wildlife and has had scientists scratching their heads as to why. Apart from the level of radiation, which has proved nothing like as harmful as predicted, it is one of the healthiest biospheres in Europe. It seems man is a far worse negative for an environment than radiation.
Fake news, old video.
I kinda agree ....
Give them a few just as a deterent... Place them across the country.......
Maybe the can get their hands on the latest nuclear sea mines as well .... Will do wonders around crimea 🤪
I saw someone on twitter state "Iranian women have bigger balls than Russian civilians".
Please try to make a coherent point and in the process maybe you could just anwser the simple question asked
Give Ukraine 6 nuclear weapons. This is safest singular thing the west could do.
This means that Putin will know with absolute certainty, that if he uses a nuke against Ukraine, Moscow and St Petersburg cease to exist shortly thereafter. He doesn't have to worry about guessing what the west might or might not do and weigh up the pros and cons, he gets absolute certainty that there is nothing but con and he would know this in his gut, and just as importantly, so would everyone else in Russia involved in the chain of command and involved in the actions necessary to deploy nuclear weapons. I turn this key and press this button, and that is effectively the end of my country and those I love.
I firmly believe this is the one way to out manoeuvre Putin and take away his option to use nukes. I am sure he thinks he can use nukes in Ukraine without triggering a nuclear retaliation from another nuclear power, fortunately/unfortunately I think so too, so it's currently a very attractive option for him and a lot of other Russians.
A nuclear armed Ukraine is one you can't use nuclear weapons against. In such a scenario, even if Putin did order their use, it wouldn't be obeyed. He personally might think it's defeat Ukraine or Russia might as well not exist, but I doubt that feeling would be shared, or be very popular.
This is a far better and safer option than trying to respond to a situation where Russia has just used a nuclear weapon on Ukraine, a situation that could well deteriorate rapidly. I'd rather keep the genie in the bottle than observe what it gets up to if let out. MAD has been a 100% effective cork for the past 76 years.
Rats fleeing the sinking ship, I dont have any compassion for them. If they actually cared they would be protesting in Russia
I honestly do not see any nuclear weapon been used by anybody any day soon.
Russian threats to me and a load of ol coddle. Putin's reputation is completely zero and its all his own doing. The west have nothing at all to fear from fruit cakes on RT or RTE for that matter.
. I researched this and found nothing on any country having developed nuclear sea mines let alone deploying these fictional weapons.
So which one are you going with they don't exist or they exist but you didn't know anything about them...
We can do this dance all day or week
Explosions reported in Novoaidar of Luhansk region
Did they not close the border a few weeks back ?
Good to see the panic in Russia though
Any how.
Meanwhile in Russia there is currently a 35km tailback to get into Finland unprecedented so far and likely to get worse
A test was performed during the cold war and there have been some reports that North Korea may be developing a nuclear mine.
With that information in mind ... Do you find it plausible Russia have place Nuclear sea mines near undersea cables of the Irish coast?
And if the anwser is yes, what plausible relevant evidence did you use to reach that conclusion?.
