Yeah, I think that what I was originally trying to remember was timmyntc's point about the steel. They have to source it for scientific experiments that measure nuclear reactions etc.
There are a few things where it pops up. The point about 1940's is that there were none before then rather than anything special about what was dropped in Japan. There are basically pre-nuclear and post-nuclear.
Although there are of course other sources of radiation - there was actually a natural "nuclear reactor" on earth billions of years ago! Long enough not to matter now though.

On the contrary, I'm sure some have a good idea - it's science, and there aren't really any unknowns in the equation apart from dispersal patterns varying according to detonation altitude.
You aren't going to find a documentary on the nuclear destruction of the planet that hasn't happened. Have you any other well researched links to show what would happen? Video format would be ideal, but anything from a leading research institute will do

It's completely pointless attempting to explain that to some on here cause you know nuclear weapons have been used before on a sporadic basis in the Nevada desert, Siberia or anywhere remote at different times. They are deliberately failing to acknowledge what a multiple of that released in a short time frame would do to human civilisation.
The simple break down of logistics alone would render the world to a very dark place indeed and that's before the obvious scenarios like radiation or immediate blast injuries.

Russian airforce don't have the ability to put a single aircraft into NATO airspace for more than 5 seconds unless they are permitted last. Half their submarine force are bottled up in Blacksea and cowering from a nation with no navy. Greenpilot already told you what would happen to their missles from Kalingrad. So get a grip, this is not 1984 and it nor is it the Cuba missle crisis. The only assured method of delivery Russia have is Artillery, and Putin can bluff all he likes, any nuclear action in Ukraine would mean not just NATO but China, India, Pakistan and Japan putting an immediate end to Russias pretences.
