I heard the first bit of today's program. That discussion of the queue to pay respects to the late QEII as an entity in itself was one of the funniest things I've heard in a while, incl. the chat with Oliver Callan. Brilliant 👏👏
There’s a lady on now described as “Radio 1 reporter Evelyn O’Rourke” who I haven’t heard before. She had a propensity to end almost every sentence with “right?”, which is incredibly annoying and sounds very unprofessional and casual (esp. considering she’s discussing a funeral). I wonder who she’s related to? Seán?
No reference to Noel Kelly Management?
From Wikipedia, so I can't vouch for its accuracy:
"Evelyn O'Rourke is an Irish broadcaster employed by RTÉ
O'Rourke joined RTÉ in 1998 as a researcher on The Gay Byrne Show and The Arts Show on RTÉ Radio 1 before moving on to become roving reporter on Today with Pat Kenny on RTÉ Radio 1 and The Gerry Ryan Show on RTÉ 2fm. She has served as a presenter on several RTÉ programmes, including Drivetime Liveline and Morning Ireland on RTÉ Radio 1 as well as an annual Countdown to the Leaving Cert series on RTÉ 2fm on which she offered advice to Leaving Certificate students. She also was a regular contributor to the "It Says in the Papers" slot on Morning Ireland. Other television work includes Crimecall, The Daily Show, Seoige and as a judge on TV talent shows Glas Vegas and The All Ireland Talent Show."
She's been around for years that wan
Cushy little number, well sinecured I’ll be bound…….!
She was terrible, I’m glad I hadn’t heard of her before today…..right?
😯
Were you in a coma for the past six year, horse?
The "listen" and "c'mere's" have gotten worse.
The interviewees are more patient than me not to start mimicking him or something.
What agent ?
He doesn't have one.
So Francis Brennan has no agent eh? I see. So how does a fella like that get multiple series/shows on RTE, multiple appearances on TLLS, other radio shows (normally hosted by presenters from a certain well known agency) without an agent? Yep, it's a real teaser alright.
If fact, if he can get so much work without an agent, why do the other superstars bother with an agent at all?
She has honestly escaped my attention before this morning. Genuinely never heard of her before!
Wow!
For a lad who seemed to know his radio…that is amazing.
Probably more to do with Dunnes Stores publicists than any thing else or lazy producers.
Herself and Gerry Ryan worked together...she was extremely Emotional when he passed away
Well I never listened to Gerry Ryan so I guess that’s it….🤷♂️
Tuned in today for a while.
Inside couple of minutes heard 'mental health '.
Tuned out again.
Ah now Dude, youve just confirmed my long held suspicions. You went to a lot of trouble with the contrived language and all but you've slipped up.
I’m good with that , my friend.
Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick on today.
When did he go off the deep end, there are lucid moments of normality then he's off again. Like one of the US evangelical self hep gurus.
He didn't seem to be all there, a bit manic and then a 55 year old constantly mentioning his "mammy" I found a bit odd
Who was that motormouth Paul dude on today?
Lad seemed a bit ‘manic’ with the breathless delivery.
The problem is, he’s started to believe his own publicity
The chat between Brendan and John Creedon was priceless today.
At times like an updated Cha and Miah, had me in stitches (no A&E involved) 🙂
Paul Somerville, from “Sommerville Markets” - he’s a stick trader/broker, he has ads on RTÉ and Newstalk all the time about his courses where you can “learn to trade the stockmarkets”. Now he could be the best trader in the world, but there’s something off about having an advertiser with the station be a panelist on a radio show. I guess it’s better than another NK Mafia member though.
Cheap at half the price , and here’s one possible solution
Great interview with Desmond Morris. I was part of the generation blown away by his writing. Thought he had left this planet long ago.
Brendan was properly researched on his interviewee too and able to tease out how interesting the man is.
Terrible events in Donegal but not the morning for the Brendan O'C treatment. Once I heard Rita Ann being rolled out yesterday, it was off. Maureen Gaffney today I heard in intro, off. I know he has to cover the story but that man would give depression to even the most optimistic person.
Yep, as soon as I heard the line up I was gone.
Desmond Morris sounds like a much younger man, his voice never aged.
Nor his huge brain!
Producers having conniptions during that interview with Roddy.
