I think the problem is if your screen gets dirty and maybe some dirt dries in then it thinks "oh this screen is dirty I need to clean it" or "oh this thing on the screen must be rain, I need to clear it"
But the screen wash doesn't clear it. Then it's just wiping constantly over a dry screen.
I don't have a major issue with them doing this if u have auto selected but the problem is when cruise or AP is on then u simply cannot turn off auto wipers which is absurb.
Elon doesn't get that medical tests can have false positives and negatives also. If only there was an analogy in his own industry to help him understand.
Sometimes when I get phantom wiping, it helps to give a blast of water to clean the screen (even if it's clean), and if that doesn't work, turning them from 'auto' to off and back onto auto after a minute or so seems to usually work.
One thing that seems to have crept into my AP driving more and more are the auto wipers coming on when it's NOT RAINING. Last night I had to turn AP and cruise off because the wipers were squeaking against a dry window. The sound was irritating and can't imagine it's good for the window or wipers.
Just 2 days in to ownership but one observation that I have made (that I have already seen here also) is that the estimated battery level on arrival to your destination when using the satnav is very accurate - it has been within 1% of the 4 journeys that I have trialled it on and each journey was
It certainly helps to manage the newbie range anxiety when you see the % drop 1 by 1 on the screen.
Really enjoying the car. Power delivery is great - car is comfortable - rear leg room is good, boot space is good, light in the cabin is great and the tech is great also. Delighted that I went with the white interior as I think that it gives an extra sense of space in the cabin. Software updates OTA are brilliant - ability to fix issues/bugs without going to the garage or (potentially) not having to live with inherent design flaws that were delivered with the car on Day 1...
To keep it balanced, a couple of downsides:

Yes you can exclude home, work and favorite from sentry mode
I’m not being smart or anything but what does it not do compared to other usb’s?
Im really happy with mine so far after a few days even though there is some alignment issues with the bodywork/rear lights so I’ve booked it in for a service next week. There may be stuff I’ve missed as well like not checking if there is a usb stick in there as I’ve only opened the glovebox once and it was while I was driving just to try the voice commands. Overall though the car is what I expected and maybe a bit more. The performance is a real standout even though I bought the rwd. My previous car had more power (342 bhp) and the numbers to any speed were faster but this thing feels quicker, must be the age of my last yoke and probably more torque in the m3. Also helps that it is a little lighter and more agile in bends with the low down centre of gravity but it is a very nice surprise.
I know that but there is a difference in silicon quality from a cheap Chinese brand USB stick and brand name quality one even though they are both made in China.
Like the cars ...Chinese....90% of goods that we consume, including branded are made in China!
As I was reading your comment I was about to say those USB sticks are no good but you knew that already. They are cheap generic Chinese USB sticks.
Cheers Gumbo!!
Control arms. Known issue and should be a warranty job. Sometimes they grease them and they are fine.
Cool, maybe I don’t see that as I have no favourite’s saved.
Horrible creaking noise coming from the front drivers side at low speeds taking off or going over speed bumps.
Just started today. Any ideas what it might be or a fix involved?
Thanks. On sentry I was able to select home and work for sentry offline. Favourites can also be selected.
On usb, it was not giving me the option to format so I pulled usb stick and reinserted. Still greyed out.. Got a different usb stick and the option popped up immediately. So it looks like I got a dodgy usb stick which is fine as the general view is that it is not much good anyway…
Thanks for the help.
Looks like you went at the back of the car with an axe 😂.
He said nobody online is going to see my number plates just before he wacked the number plate off with a few swings of his axe.
Tint looks well. I'll be doing the rear windows too. Feels odd that they aren't factory done.
FWIW front and back, if I was to change anything I'd go Limo on the window tints
Hard to get a good rear tint photo
I don’t think you can select safe locations only exclude home.
It’s as east as flicking a tab though if you don’t want it on at any given place.
Dashcam should be automatic once you have usb inserted. If it’s saying check usb it might just need formatting. You do that onscreen in the menus.
RWD. The SR+ was the older model.
So I got darkened lights protection film from AE. Nice calm day today so can't put it off any longer.
Started with front fogs, went on in a jiffy. Then moved onto rears, took a wee bit longer but no real issues.
The fronts were a nightmare. The protection film is a flat film however the front lights are highly curved so the film would be fine on one part of the light but not even close to conforming on the remainder. No choice but to get out the heat gun. I'm no wrapping expert so trial and error, a lot of peeling on and off and heating and reapplying etc. I over heated in a few places and have some bubbles I just have to accept. I'm not sure on front lights longevity, time will tell. Not sure I'd do this again, deffo get a pro to do the front main lights for certain.
I now have the all the rear windows tinted, Matt black logo badged and darkened lights. That's it for me.
The fronts will look good from a distance but not close up.
I agree and I'm not planning on not using both features but for trying to diagnose the issue and confirm range I had both these potentially battery drainers turned off.
One I picked up new last week so 2022 rwd sr
Can you set ‘safe locations’ where sentry mode is not required. For example, I would not need it at home or at work so this would be 80% of time covered and if I could mark these areas as safe and no sentry required it would save significant battery drain also.
Dashcam: how do you activate this? Do you need a separate usb stick for this? I have the Tesla supplied usb stick inserted but dash am is still showing as not available… It says to check USB??
Thanks, Mike
Sorry if this is a silly question, but is the a new (2021+) RWD or an older model.
Guys, especially the newbies. You will be sorry if you don’t have dashcam on and sentry if not covered by home cctv.
There will come a day when you wish they were on.
I have dashcam on 100% of the time. I do t think it used much battery. Sentry is off at home but on everywhere else.
I wouldn’t go without them at all.
Sure will do. Here is my trip screen from 1% charge last night. U can see the "since last charge details"
Used 45kw and range of 302
No sentry or dashcam for most of that trip and the efficency is decent.
What I noticed when I got to 1% it fluctuated between 1 and 2% going up and down as if it was almost calibrating or something.
As I said when I then charged to 100% from here it only took 52kw of juice hence implying that there is a massive buffer below 0%
I genuinely think that the buffer the software has in my car for some reason is set too big.
Like if I was at 2% last night and the car only took 52kw to get to 100% then that can be the only explanation
Well apart from the battery not being 60kwh lol
I'm going to get ranger to take a look.
I have no range anxiety I'm just perplexed at why the software is holding back about 10kwh of the pack.
And all of the figures in the trips and energy app assume a 60kwh pack so they are so far off they are defacto useless.
My commute is 35km each way. I arrive to work with 90% and arrive home with ~77% remaining. If I drove more carefully and turned off sentry mode, I would be confident of having 80% remaining. I'm on the M50 for less than half of it and doing 60/80 the rest of the way with a short stint at 120km/h for about 3km. I haven't checked my efficiency, but if 20% is 70km, then i'm getting 350km. It's a far cry from the advertised nearly 500km or the estimated 440km on the screen. That said, i'm still delighted coming from a 24 Leaf and not having any range anxiety on my commute.
Maybe my actual mileage would be higher if I ran the battery from 100 to 0. I know this happened to be the case in the Leaf where the lower end of the battery lasted longer.
I do.
