I work with a guy who is like this in real life. He's very intelligent but he's also extremely paranoid and has a massive anti-authoritarian streak. The upshot of this is that he doesn't trust "main stream media" or any politicians. He was anti-lockdown and anti-vaccine. He tries to argue that nobody really died from Covid (his argument was that they were all dying with it, not of it). He's always been anti the EU. When the invasion started he blamed NATO for forcing the Russian's hand. He now says that sanctions are "pointless and only hurt us and not the Russians". The worst part about it though is that he's really smug about it and basically makes it out that everyone else is a moron.
So yeah....I try not to talk to him about current affairs

In fact the dead a not buried in ditches or left where they were murdered like Bucha. They were buried in individual graves last spring by local most likely. Ukrainian officials are distancing themselves from the Bucha reference.

If you take it a step further back, I wonder what has been going on in the occupied territories since 2014. There were always anecdotal reports of people disappearing and never being seen again. Apparently these rumours filtered through to Russian speakers in free Ukraine and made many of them all the more resolute about wanting to remain in Ukraine when this current invasion occurred this year.
But the only reason people were left dead on the streets in Bucha is because the Russians had to beat a hasty retreat at a moment's notice. Had they stayed in occupation in Bucha for months (as happened in Izyum), those people would have been buried in mass graves.
The people discovered in Izyum weren’t buried in mass graves. It’s 400 Individual graves largely and now there’s reports of an additional 200. Now the deliberate shelling of civilians is in itself a war crime but the people found seem not to have been summarily executed.

Saw a few videos last night where people were saying that the dam in Kryvyi Rih was blown as a means of washing away Ukrainian pontoon bridges on the Inhulets river in Kherson - thereby cutting off Ukrainians in the central bridgehead and leaving them exposed to Russian aircraft. However other videos (and a podcast) seemed to think that it was done purely out of spite and had no strategic purpose.
Not sure what to believe.
Not all of them sorry to rain on your bandwagon. The intial figure was 440 and apparently 200 more have since been discovered. no mass graves sites such as those in Bosnia have been found as of yet. How many is multiple 2,4 nobody has said. I don’t think the Russians would have taken the time to erect crosses.

Extrapolating from Claire Daly & Mick Wallace's stance all these deaths should be on our conscience i.e. those that believe the WEST should have helped Ukraine to stand up to RuZZia as we advocated for prolonging the war. If it wasn't for the West's support Ukraine would have lost quickly and a benevolent Ruzzia would not have committed these atrocities. Riiiiiight

I don't want to derail the thread but this was basically his kind of logic. Someone could only be considered a covid death if they were otherwise completely healthy. The thing is a lot of those co-morbidities were things like hypertension and diabetes - things that people could have easily lived for decades more with had they not gotten covid and died.
