I'm afraid not, as it comes in at just over the €60k mark meaning it does not qualify.. and this is the cheapest you can get the car in red (with 18" wheels)
If the grant is still there next year, get the car in white and get it wrapped and save yourself about €5k
Thanks both. I'd rather not get it wrapped tbh, I think it looks awful. I saw the blue and grey one are still under 60k and you get the grant, so might go with the blue.
I don't dislike the white though, I think it's a great colour so might go with that one :). Can't wait!
I’ve seen quite a few of them wrapped in Ireland and some of them look absolutely stunning.
mine is white and if I keep it I could definitely see myself putting a wrap on it in a year or 2 to freshen it up…
I bought the white just because it was the only one in inventory that qualified for the grant and I could have it in 3 weeks.
Now that u have it I don't think I'd switch colors. Its really grown on me already
I think the white really suits the Model 3. Got a nice sparkle to it and also looks bright on a dull day. Easier to keep looking good and stays cooler on hot days..
In relation to the SEAI grant there is speculation that eligibility criteria will be amended (as is usual ) in the Budget, with some talk that it may be removed or to follow the previous established pattern of reducing qualifying amount from its current 60K. The budget is just two weeks away so you may wish to consider placing an order, will cost 250 deposit as if there were to be a cancelling or reduction of the grant I would not rule out the possibility that cars that have already been ordered (but not delivered) would be honoured (which would seem fair).
There is no certainty about any of theses issues...on the contrary there is a lot of uncertainty but the other factor to consider is that in June '22 Tesla increased prices in US, followed by Australasia, followed by the UK. For previous price increases Ireland quickly followed with increases but this has NOT YET happened.
These may well be reasons why you would want to press the button now which would lock current pricing and "potentially" the grant
I would bet my bottom dollar on a change or reduction in grant cover in the budget
Wouldn't bet against it.... I may well give some thought to placing another order ahead of the budget in next two weeks, purely to lock in current pricing (Ireland still didn't pass on last round of price increases in June) and to take a view on grant availability for orders already placed. Would be 250 well spend to lock in these options. .....
I’d love to see what wrapped one you think looks awful?
Most can’t tell the difference, once it’s a normal colour. Now if it’s Matt or a mad glitter or something, that’s not my cup of tea either.
I am pretty sure that I saw on the Tesla website that if grant rules change that the customer picks up the difference. They will definitely honour price on their side though if there is a price increase between the time you order and delivery time. This is better than most others who tell you that the price you pay will be the RRP on delivery date…
If the grant changes you pay up the balance. Tesla only absorb price increases on its own end not local tax/grant changes.
I am aware of all of this..it has nothing to do with TESLA. The point I was making, perhaps not eloquently, is if the government announces a change in SEAI grants for EV's I would not be surprised if the new arrangements apply to all new orders from that date. For people who will have already committed to a purchase and have an "an order agreement" the grant could extend to them. Its just a view...everyone must form their own view
This is what I also believed would happen, as it also ties in with the massive delays in getting EV stick into Ireland…. Id like to think they (SEAI) would honour the grant as long as the car was ordered when the grant was still available.
didn’t they do that when the PHEV grant was cut?
So existing grant to existing orders and new revised grant to any new orders after the budget. Got ya 😃
I decided not to risk any further price increase either by loss of grant, manufacturer increase, or finance hike. Ordering the Tesla was definitely the right decision. Got my Leaf deposit back this week too, though it took a bit of chasing and for me to show up in person at the showroom.
Not for me. We had ordered a Hybrid GLA at the beginning of the year and when PHEW was scrapped, Mercedes (MSL) called us and told us that we would have to make up the difference (€2,500). Needles to say, we cancelled, got our deposit back and decided to go fully electric by ordering the Model 3.
I queried this before ordering and the guy told me they got some leeway with current orders when the grant went below 60. I’ve no way of verifying this so could be completely untrue.
Lots of wishful thinking on this thread
Maybe the ones I saw are mostly Matte - which I do think are awful. If I could find a wrapped one that looks almost identical to the red out of the factory, probably I'd change my opinion :).
Interesting stuff. Thanks. I do have the money for one, but I bought a second hand 3008 just a year and a half ago, and it is really "new" still. Ideally I wanted to change it end 2023 or beginning 2024.
Are the delivery times in the website realistic? Apr 2023 - Jun 2023 as of now.
I would say yes as production capacity has been significantly boosted with modifications to Shanghai factory and Germany factory ramping up. If recent history is to go by the car might be available sooner.
Sounds like you are not ready and teasing yourself
I ordered in mid august and collected 7 days ago. When I ordered the ETA displayed was Q2 next year. I wasnt intending to change this year initially but it made sense especially with the risk to the SEAI grant in the budget.
Very possible. The Matt look is a kinda love/hate relationship.
Im not mad on them myself personally.
Makes sense. That's actually really good. Just testing the waters as they say. I had no plans to get it this year (or order it). It's a 6-12 month plan, which is the time it takes to convince my wife.
Jaysus......Im holding off installing this update for now. More reports I read it is sounding like a shitshow for some.
Im loving AP just the way it is for now and I have a heavy load of motorway driving over the next month. Might wait till the next release to see if they address a lot of the compaints.
In fairness, all my issues arose when I rebooted the car mid drive.... I just lost every setting I had which was a pain in the arse...
AP is actually really nice now, I did a drive on some windy roads last night, and no phantom braking, and NO Auto High Beams enabled whatsoever!!! So I assume the jump from .6 to .8 fixed that 'issue'
Just noticed an annoying plastic rattle coming from my driver side b pillar. Worth getting tesla to check that out? Anyone else had that issue?
there is an issue there with the trim, whereby a certain part of it warms up and expands... I notice the odd crack sound if I go over a bump or something.. the Ranger said it's just teh piece of trim resetting itself, and there is no fix and it's purely a design flaw in the Model 3. Now I might only get that noise once a week or once a fortnight, but if your noise is constant, book it in for a service, and get them to check it out... try and record a video of it too so you can add it to the service request.
Yeah its pretty constant once i reach a certain speed or if the road isn't particularly smooth. I may try book it in so.
If it's the same as ours it's the seat belt top mount adjuster that's making the noise. Try to touch the slidy piece to see if it stops the noise. Ours only makes noise when the car is cold and you drive on rough concrete surfaces.
