They seem to have a lot of popularity in the very young, most of whom will not be inheriting any time soon but it's still surprising that they should target the inheritance limits. They also seem to like the Commission on Taxation suggested limit of €32,500! Messing with property transfer is not something any party should get involved in and increasing CAT rates is just not a vote winner. Nice to see them finally discover an actual, if completely vague position on renewables and energy, even if it was written by a TY student.
just cash the cheques from the brits and build their property portfolios in the UK eh ?
what a rabid hateful simpleminded backwards ass post,
as expected
Great, so you voted for continued war in the North by Irish Republicans and are therefore a supporter of things like the murder of Lyra McKee.
Are you Sean Mac Stiofain?
I know you are probably finding this stuff difficult Marko but Sean is actually dead, 18th May 2001
To lighten the mood a bit folks, here's a video of Charles acknowledging that Sinn Fein are now the largest party on the island, and getting the response about not mentioning that fact to "Jeffrey". 😂
Changed times we live in.
no i only voted on what was on the ballot paper and nothing more.
whatever happened after, real or hypothetical i did not vote for or against as i was not asked to give my support or not give my support to it.
So you voted 'No' to the Good Friday Agreement, but you then claim you were not asked to deny or approve the GFA
You are an odd one for sure.
Making it up as you go along I think.
Funnily enough, the worst service comes from the semi state companies, most of the new entrants are quick to respond (unless its a grid/network issue in which case its back to the bad service of the semi-state). And of course you realised this before posting...
You mentioned the cost of joining the SEM as a negative, presumably you want to leave it or that is bluster.
Because energy is in demand, what is with wannabe socialists not understanding how supply and demand works.
Did electricity prices fall in the past? Why did they fall? Why didn't they companies generate more profit instead? No squirming.
You can openly be a PBP socialist if you want to be, no one will stop you.
Of course the cost of joining the SEM is a negative, that's simple sums, and it is a cost that is borne by every electricity user, every bill. WTF would I want to leave it now and probably double the cost. What were/are the positives about joining SEM (apart from the cost which you appear to admire as a positive), has it given us cheaper electricity, has it guaranteed continuity of supply, what advantages.
has it given us cheaper electricity, has it guaranteed continuity of supply
Well, you've listed them already.
Unless you think a country which has to import all fossil fuels could survive outside of such a structure.
And building power plants and wind farms is also a "negative", stop doing that as well I guess.
I guess we have the birth of the magic electricity fairy in alphabet soup economics.
And again, SF are doing none of this, PBP/Rise want to.
More garbage and bluster
Has it given us cheaper electricity - NO, obviously
Has it given us guaranteed continuity of supply -NO, for the first time in the history of the state there is a risk of lights out this winter (because of shortage of generation capacity)!!!!!!
So what are the positives from market opening (other than the billions we've paid for it and the millions we continue to pay annually, which you seem to consider positives)
WTF has this to do with SF/RISE/PBP
Abe Lincoln - Better to remain silent..............
And building power plants and wind farms is also a "negative", stop doing that as well I guess
Why would you stop building power plants and windfarms - an idiotic irrelevant comment, where did that come from
Another beaut - any idea what happened for the 75 years before market opening, ask mum/dad if you don't know.
Who are the shirts and the soldiers and what have they to do with SF on this thread? Are there factions within SF?
Yea
So explain to me these shirts and soldiers factions within SF.
It's really complicated
I can tell that you are young with that comment, that you never had to liaise with semi state services like Telecom Eireann back in the 70's or 80's.
Did you know that it could take 6 months to get a new phone installed in your house then? Imagine waiting 6 months to get your mobile phone setup today..
You're not even great at that Marko, and to be fair a simple google check would have helped you.
I was one of the unfortunates who was trying to get a phone installed back then (6 months, now there's a joke), but of course it wasn't from Telecom Eireann, it was from the Dept of Posts and Telegraphs (I think that was the name of it), a Department of arguably the worst government (FG/Lab) in the history of the state and certainly the worst Minister for Posts and Telegraphs in the history of the state. To be fair to Albert Reynolds he had a transformative effect on the Department when he took over in 1977 and by 1983 it had come a long way while still not there. From when it was created in 1983 (would have been easy enough to find that out) to it's privatisation in 1999 Telecom Eireann had become unrecognisable from it's founding days, an innovative efficient organisation as could be seen from the interest in it's privatisation, but thatcherism was in vogue so we had to join the party. Since then a once great Irish business has been raped and pillaged by such luminaries as George Soros and Tony O'Reilly, each and every one extracting their pounds of flesh (millions) as it passed through their hands. I'm not sure who the current owners are, could be Malaysians but I couldn't be assed checking (Edit: I checked, it's a Signaporean Wealth Fund with I'm sure multi-generational telecommunications expertise). A couple of years ago there was a discussion about the state trying to buy back the network. A brilliant example Marko, thanks.
sounds like you've said too much in a public forum and can't back out now lol
careful now or you ll have the nutting squad after ya 😯😯😯
Seems Charles interaction with Sinn Fein hasn't gone unnoticed.
Some of our political representatives could learn lots from this.
Same question, has electricity prices gone down before? Why did they go down?
This thread is bizarro land sometimes, this is simple supply and demand taught in year 1 in secondary school.
"problem occurs"
"that problem will stay around forever, everything in the world is useless, it was better in the 80's"
"problem gets solved"
"government did nothing to solve it anyway"
rinse and repeat.
Mike, you're as sharp as a razor blade
What in the name of all that's holy has this got to do with the price of spuds or the simple questions I asked you (in light of your singing the praises of the market opening for electricity) but I'm a patient man and I will ask them again and try to keep them as simple as possible for you.
The first question is: Has market opening given us cheaper electricity
The second question is: Has it given us guaranteed continuity of supply
Coming from you,
Ill take that as an insult kid 🤭🤭🤭
but you best read your directives from party hq again before you post .....
I've been reading them all evening, looks like I'm in trouble
id say we are all in trouble given the political situation here
You're OK, you're not mentioned in the directives
o i dont know about that,
after all i ve had plenty of interactions with a few "activists" back in the day
You told me to read the directives, I spent ages doing it, and there's no mention of you
