Gigs announced this morning .
September 9th & 10th .
Tonight's gonna be a washout isn't it. Considering not going.
Funnily enough, some of the best gigs I've been at have been standing tickets in the pissing rain. Once you've resigned yourself to the fact you're going to get soaked, you can just let yourself go and have a great time. Something very fulfilling about it 🙂
Mind you, only works when you know you'll be going home to a nice hot shower and warm bed after the gig. The thoughts of getting soaked at a festival and heading back to a damp, muddy tent fills me with dread.
yes a lot of young stewards. The bar situation was crap they had hardly any pints ready to go. you would order and then they go pour it. I felt sorry for any women needing to use toilets. Must have been awful as the queues were atrocious. lots were going into the men's and getting kicked out by steward. I walked into the men's toilets in McGrath's afterwards and was the only fella in there with about 10 women!
I made my journey to Dublin this morning. Was tempted to wear nothing but a bikini and an Irish flag because there would be less clothes to get wet.
Restricted view of what? The sky above the stage??
Alan O'Reilly on Twitter reckons there is a chance it could pass through before the concert
Did he mention on Friday too that they are recording the gig or was it just last night?
Poncho and get pissed past caring, I wouldn't let it hold me back
I would like to get into the pit. What time would I need to leave Dublin City to start queuing for the pit?
I will check the weather soon and if its still bad I will get a taxi from the city. I was going to walk but its so wet. If clears at all, I could walk.
Often when someone stood at the doorway they'd block the view of the stage
I want to get some drinks but I can't because I am on some meds. Its balls.
Ah sure have 1
Is he actually miming?
If you're there for gates you'll get pit, we arrived a little after 6 last night and were on the barrier behind the sound desk, reckon we missed pit passes by about 15 minutes.
..
We got in around that time and got passes although we didn't realise they were for the pit until they had us que separately on the pitch. We came through the red route.
What time would you advise being in the queue waiting for gates to open? And is there a specifc gate that is nearer the pit to give you a better chance of getting in it?
Have they people selling those Carlsberg bottles on the pitch like other gigs?
Yes, along with pre-mixed cans of G&T, smirnoff and cola, and a few other things.
what was the story with the luas last night, exited Connnolly last night headed elsewhere, saw 3 short luas parked there, a few people queing there and at store street, there was another luas coming from the point but..., then loads of people queing at upper abbey street, gardai and barriers there, seemed there been waiting a fair while...
Crowd control due to the majority heading towards Heuston/red cow. For the all Ireland semis they actually closed the busaras stop.
Was there on Friday night. Got the pit passes, we were in about 615, we were one of the last to get through.
I was there on Friday night and the sound was godawful. Disappointing as I couldnt hear some of my favourite instruments wasnt bothered with his bs between songs
i also thought the large screens were too narrow, like and old camera phone video. Very odd.
the queue into Cusack stand was a **** show. Thousands not knowing what way to go
Friday was recorded also. I'm pretty sure they are recording every night - most of these specials are shot over multiple nights so they have a few edits to choose the best bits from.
Sorry pressed send before I finished that. It was great being in the pit, because there was plenty of space never too crowded. anyone who has pitch tickets I’d definitely recommend getting into gig earlier to get into the pit. They were selling drinks by the side of the pitch and you have access to hill 16 toilets and bars. Security was the only annoying thing for me. And they check under your hat on the way in by the way! Every time I went to the bar they insisted and opening all the cans and all the bottles and I said please dont because I have to carry them back! And at one stage I asked the security guard to hold my chips because my jacket was slipping down and he said I can’t hold your possessions please back away! A bit 0TT I thought. And we couldn’t access the pitch at the end had to go back the way we came. Our left was at the top of Jones Road but couldn’t go left when we got outside. But the gig itself was amazing and the crowd in flying form
Opening cans & taking lids off is standard procedure at concerts & festivals for a long as I can remember. People have used them as projectiles, imagine getting a full can/bottle thrown and smashing off your head. Obviously less chance at Garth Brooks but some gigs are cagey
If anyones looking for parking, yesterday Clonturf Community College was charging a 10er for the day.
Ended up parking at Mountjoy Park which was ideal for herself as not to far to walk. Id definitely chance doing a few laps around the park for a space. Was a good few even at 5pm yesterday
Ah yea I know, still annoying though!
get on the luas and on their way... that how you deal with crowds
And when you've got more people than space?
