Final grand slam of the year, let's hope it's a good one!
bit early to be writing him off as a nearly man,hes only 21and has progressed steadily rather that Alcaraz like over the past few years. To go so close against Alcaraz shows how near he is to a break through, think he might have a chance of winning a slam or two.He wont be competing with big 3 andall the newbies are getting beaten regularly so jury out for me on him.
I did say I think he'll win multiple slams so I agree with you. He's too talented not too. The future looks bright.
Ooh you're right, I'd forgotten about that. In truth I'd kinda considered her the 'real' #2 even before that stat, because it sure as hell isn't Kontaveit, or Sakkari or Badosa for that matter.
What a rally at set point! 55 odd shots.
Don't think this match is going down in history as one of the great US Open semi finals
Sinner beat alcaraz at Wimbledon ffs. Took djok to 5 was it? In QF. I watched entire QF v alcaraz, for a long while he seemed to have all the answers. Extremely impressive. Some net play and all.
Sorry meant to quote a previous poster. Never seem to manage it.
Looking forward to Alcaraz versus Ruud.
Bit gutted for Tiafoe he battled extremely well, still a great tournament for him and now in the top 20.
I wonder will look back in years to come and say this was the tournament where it ended for the big 3.Nadal and Djock will play again but perhaps they will no longer be the force they have been for 20 years.I quite like the uncertainty of whose going thru and the new reality that 8 or 9 players can win it on a good week.Alcaraz is amazing but somehow I thinK he will be more prone to early exits than say Djock or Nadal.
We well might but I'd still have fancied Djokovic to win this if he was let into the country. It's a slightly weird changing of the guard in that Djokovic has just fucked himself really instead of being overtaken by the next gen.
Ruud is starting to grow on me, I actually fancy him to win tomorrow.
I'll be dredging up this post when Djoko canters to the Australian Open title in January 😛 Djokovic has a lot of longetivity left in him I think.
Sad for Tiafoe to lose that one, but happy we're not now in a situation where Ruud could climb to #1 without having won anything above 250 level.
I thought Djoko was banned from entering Australia for three years?
Or did I misread that somewhere?
I've really enjoyed the coverage on Prime Video this year.
My only minor gripe is that some of the commentators talk too much during the matches. Jim Courier is the worst offender.
I think Australia usually bans its deportees from re-entering for three years, but I'd be shocked if this is the case with Djokovic. I could well be wrong of course, but I think he'll be playing.
Iga Swiatek looks like she means business early on in this final.
It’s heating up a bit now.
Jabeur breaks back! Could be a good contest this one!
Yeah that half volley winner from Swiatek and those two winners from Jabeur was great.
5-2 first set to Swiatek.
6-2 to Swiatek, she's in cruise control. Jabeur not doing a lot wrong, Swiatek's level just too high.
First set to Swiatek and it wasn’t that close. Even with Jabeur playing poor and being so nervous, Swiatek is playing very well.
It’s not over but it kind of is. Jabeur hasn’t turned up due to nerves.
Ah here! To quote Jimmy Magee that winner from Swiatek to go 3-0 was different class.
I really thought Jabeur was going to win this one. But it's not looking likely now.
I really warmed to Jabeur at Wimbledon this year.
Jabeur is back to 2-3 in the second set.
The fans who drank lunch are very annoying.
Swiatek is incredible.
She is and the really scary thing is she’s only 21 years old.
Jabeur breaks back so it’s 4-3 in the second set.
Jesus Christ the fans need to shut the **** up.
Real contest in this second set!
Shocking
