Wow, they've really taken huge advances. To think they're going for Izyum so quickly is impressive.
Taking the long view of history, it was Russian defeat on an eastern front that was the catalyst for one of the most profound historical events of all time.
Would a defeated, demoralised Russian army of 2022 turn on their modern day Tsar?
I dunno, but last time that happened it caused brain damage.
Quite a few military analysts on social media saying they are flabbergasted at the progress the Ukrainians are making. It's almost like a form of modern day blitzkrieg.
Whoever planned this counter offensive appears to have done a hell of a job.
To be fair, a lot of thanks should go to the Russian military command and their stupendous lack of modern warfare acumen.
The flip side to that is that the Russian forces appear to be putting up little resistance.
Maybe they've eventually worked out that being cannon fodder for Mad Vlad's paranoia isn't a cause worth dying for?
Yes, definitely. If ever an "army" has been badly found out in action, it is this one. They have been a bunch of chancers and spoofers all along.
Indeed, there may well be many examples of Russian troops simply legging it before they are massacred (no doubt to the fury of their masters).
Okay this is making me nervous. Is now the moment for Vlad to drop the big one?
So have the military power sites been adjusted I assume Russia no longer appears on them. I think the lists are not great tbh as they don't take into account of actual troop performance and professionalism. Having loads of tanks but the guys can't really use them effectively does nothing but supply target practice. Always wonder why India and China show up so high in them.
Would be an insane move though. Even his so called 'allies' would instantly abandon him if detonated a nuclear weapon, even a very small one. It would be him burning his bridges with literally everyone.
Turn on their Tsar? Maybe it's a coup, albeit an unorthodox coup.
A monumental collapse of the Russian frontline is either incompetence or by design for a purpose. Putin took strategic control of the army during the summer from what I remember. Supreme commander I think?
What makes you think this?
It would be a reasonable assumption to make but what about the Russian upper echelon has been shown to be reasonable?
In all seriousness I've never been so frustrated at not being able to read Cyrillic lettering. It's like that series "Soviet Storm" all over again, a good WW2 Eastern Front documentary but with all the maps in Russian. This must be what being illiterate feels like.
It strikes me as a disastrous move that would make zero sense politically, militarily or in any other regard. It would make Russia ten times the pariah state it is now. It probably wouldn't even stop the Ukrainians advancing (to give in to it would mean the entire planet was being held hostage by a madman fit for a straightjacket).
So simple and peaceful .
Yet so powerful.
Priceless...
Normally I hate the soundtracks but this one rocks.
Ouch - couldn't happen to a more deserving lot.
When have we ever heard such public discord for putin ,
Wonder If the winds of change are starting to blow 🌬️
I doubt he cares at this stage. Time for any sensible heads in Kremlin to make their move and remove the Putin inner circle. Coups usually happen rapidly and ive got a feeling one will have been planned for a while now. No way the oligarchy billionaires in Russia don't have the a plan in place to remove him when the time comes.
To all the soup takers on here. This is what's it's like when you're willing to die to save your country, your culture and your people. Half of you probably belt out our national anthem not even realising you're signing about taking up arms to go and die for Ireland's freedom. Thank God most Ukrainians don't think like this or want a quick "peace agreement" to save soldier's lives and civilian suffering.
There's 1 man in Russia who could bring peace with a stroke of the pen but sadly millions of Ukrainians will have to do it for him. Apparently this video shows soldier's before the recent counter attack. Hero's.
From the depth and narrowness of some of the penetrations it seems that the Ukrainians are taking a Patton-esque attitude to flank protection. Hopefully the 1944 Cobra breakout is being repeated, where the Germans were too weak and disorganised to take advantage, at least in the Kharkiv sector.
Are there any decent maps showing the extent of the counteroffensive? Everything seems to be a few days old and not that impressive but reading here makes me think there are finally some big gains?
Late at night or early morning is best to catch people asleep. If it does kick off I can Imagine some kind of Mussolini drag out.
Im not sure we're there yet. Think it needs 24hours to see exactly what Ukraine have taken back from Russia.
If there was to be a backlash to Putin I'd be thinking more the collapse of the North and loosing Kherson could do it. But not individually.
Has Putler returned from Vladivostok? Hopefully he meets the right welcome party on his return.
I missread your original post, i thought you had meant internal allies rather than external.
Unfortunately i have no faith in whatever the nuclear chain of command is internally intervening
While there is no taking away from that well filmed group shot singing the national anthem, this ticks the same box for me and a couple more. Note the blonde pony tail. Clare Daly and all those givinniks should be burnt at the stake.
I think the USA is going to seriously have to revise the estimation of the Russians Nuclear capabilities. They have been using that for budgetary purposes. Now we have seen the Russian Military end in action can't be gotten around now. Another boogey man needs to be found fast.
The video of the advance I posted above is current on the Ukrainian armed forces telegram channel. From the same source I got the impression a new news blackout is coming into effect as more unpleasant surprises for the Russians are imminent.
"There is now an operational pause in the information field.
🇺🇦The Armed Forces of Ukraine are preparing a lot of pleasant surprises for you🔥💪
Fatal for Rusni😁"
If this was a planned strategy, it was done excellently. But for something like this kind of operation, the amount of real-time intelligence the US satellites would have been providing to the Ukrainians would probably have made any country look inept.
