picked mine up last night. The lads were saying they had sent out 60 in two days and that they have a huge amount ready to be released. Haven’t a clue what I’m doing so learning slowly how to do everything - took me 10 minutes how to release the charger cable at Kill. It had 45% charge, got it up to 85% and made it back to Cork with 15% left.
nothing wrong with the car from what I’ve seen and am very happy with it.
Congrats and best of luck with the your new Tesla! I'd be very curious to see how many Tesla's are registered this month!
How do you release the charger cable by the way? What colour is your new car?
you can unlock with the key, your phone app or on screen.
Thanks mate. I think I've saturated my brain with Tesla videos at this point, I think I have brain fog at this point!

I got my VIN number last night. When can I expect to get my reg ?
It seems like people are getting their reg # only 1-2 days before collection. Like you, I got my VIN on my account a couple of days ago, but no reg yet - collection is Tuesday 13th.
Thank you . I am collecting on the 16th was hoping to start organising it this week for tax and insurance
Seemingly some companies will quote you without a reg #, VIN may be sufficient.
Went for MSM. A nice lady (a car reviewer reviewing an electric merc) told me to unlock through the screen. Its counter intuitive cos the port is already unlocked - but you press this button again.
should be in your account in a doc called "proof of registration"
That document hasn’t appeared in my account yet . The VIN has gone back to an RN number
Hi folks,
We are getting our first EV next week (Model 3). We plan to do the vast majority of charging at home, however I'm looking at non-Tesla public charging options in Ireland. Which ones are recommended or essential to sign-up to? I'm also reading that in some areas, a physical card might be needed as mobile coverage may not be great.
The 3 providers I'm looking at signing up to, any others?
ecars (esb.ie)
Home - EasyGo
Home - Home (ionity.eu)
Thanks
I have those three, but since I got my Model 3 in March and 10K km, have found I really only used ECars. Mainly use SuC of course.
With the range of the Model 3, often a bit of destination charging is all I need, eg 11kWh into car when eating, shopping, meeting etc.
I’m collecting Tesla tomorrow but been driving my wife’s ID3 for over a year I found Zap-Map and plug n share very very helpful in finding charging points with feedback
Thanks mate. I have those downloaded as I know Tesla navigation doesn't include all non SuC public charging points!
Final invoice, including reg number just appeared in my Tesla account (under docs). No email or SMS. Collecting on Tuesday 13th.
Picked her up. A beautiful car. A few panel gaps but acceptable.
Mats included.
42% battery.
A joy to drive her home and is plenty quick.
Great value.
In fairness it was hands off but the lads were there to help if needed
2 mins to sign the ipad but if I needed assistance I'd get it.
Just log any defects via the app. I'm grand with that.
Did you log any defects?
Nothing yet getting a mate to give it the once over tomorrow. Lads at tesla said that was fine.
Tbh everything is OK so far and the panel gaps I can live with. Not that bad. Paint was 100
Picked it up there today. All went smoothly enough. Yeah the pickup is a bit unceremonious. But I didn't notice any panel gaps or scuffs in the paint.
Looking for the Renault address was 100% the right call. Stopped off afterwards in Ionity up the road for a topup as the car came with 38% for me.
There was one oddity which is that in the cupholder partition I had a hitch-hiker who had clearly been dead for a long time. Nevertheless I have decided to call him Elon Husk. I might see if I can have him preserved Jurrasic park style and keep him as a memento. Anyways....
Can you post an example of the panel gap.
Will do
The gaps are more not flush than anything. Like one side raised more than the other.
Having a few drinks now so will tomorrow in daylight.
its quite rare to get panel gaps in the MIC cars so I’m surprised. But remember, they can be adjusted so log it in app and they can be fixed hopefully.
Putting this in here for anyone changing cars on exisiting polices.
Had a mare of an expeirence there with the AA, rang them to add my new car. Quote jumped up circa 500 euro on top of the 350 for my old car. Paid it but then went to their own site where as a new customer, got a quote for 423 euro.
Got onto the retention team and got it sorted, new policy in place (at less than the online offer, same cover) and full refund of old policy to follow, just goes to show that you have to argue these things to get them sorted.
+1 for this.
While it goes against my general preference to do everything online, it's definitely worth picking up the phone and actually talking with different insurance providers for quote. You will likely end up with a better deal and can directly 'haggle' with other quotes you've received.
Some quotes online were ridiculous (€2k+), even from my previous insurance provider (AXA through AA). I ended up shopping around and getting a great deal from... AXA through the AA. 😁
Ok folks. Due to collect my Y on 27th Sept.
Tesla need payment 10 working days in advance which is Tues 13th. eek
I've about 20k on the balance to clear and I am in the process of selling my current car now to pay this balance. I think I have left it a bit tight in terms of the timelines, but I didn't want to be without a car for 2-3 weeks so this is intentional. Allowing time to transfer the money, could be end of the next week before they have it. Does anyone know if there is any flexibility on Tesla side, if I'm 2-3 days late making the last payment to clear the balance? I'd expect to have my car shifted in the next few days.
(I didn't accept their trade in offer as it was, IMO, pretty poor)
All in all, new car is 30 euro more than my old one to insure.
Use Revolut if you have it. Clears within seconds.
