I find lots of teachers with their BA ‘s think they have a monopoly on intelligence teaching 12 year olds the same sh1t year in year out. This guy takes it to a whole new level. A steel toe capped boot up the whole is badly needed not just to him but the twats who reared him.
Indeed
And I would respect a colleague at work and call them by their preferred appellation, no bother. Mr, Mrs, Ms whatever you like
But a roomful of young adults, no
Once students can demand their teacher addresses them other than by their given name - then discipline breaks down
It's a Clockwork Orange
I have enough problems with discipline as is. I can only speak from my own experience.
In fact the students I have to date would be repulsed by the idea of "standing out" .. of being called anything other than their given names
They see my job as getting them Grade A's in Math and Physics. Nothing more
I am quite lucky in that Maturity rules - for the most part
If that's truly your attitude towards your students, (if you actually are a teacher, which I highly doubt) I wouldn't want you teaching mine.
Wow.
If you are a teacher it's not surprising you've a problem with discipline because it's clear nobody has any respect for you!
Guys n gals (can I call ye that ? Lols)
I gotta teach my guys n gals tomorrow so I need my shut-eye
I'll let ye to it.
meanwhiles, since ye are doing nothing else- it appears ye have nothing else to do - why not pick out names for your future offspring eg. "If its a he, what shall we call her ?" Etc ..
Ye have given me a good laugh
Ta
Does anyone really think this guy is a teacher?
Hopefully, best place for him
I know it’s spelt hole, you are obviously a National school teacher with no cop. Eunoch and yourself would be great stable mates.
Anyway.....
Yes, Burke is indeed choosing a strange hill to die on, but it must be remembered here, Burke isn't in Mountjoy tonight for refusing to use pronouns of choice, he's in prison for turning up to his workplace, repeatedly, while suspended and party to a dispute and in spite of a Court Injunction against doing precisely that. Any of us would be subject to the same restriction if we behaved in such an unhinged fashion.
Judges aren't too fond of having their Orders ignored, so yes, he will be left there indefinitely and he will be made an example of, if thats what it takes.
Pretty much yeah
He can be released either by agreeing to abide by the injunction or if the school drops the injunction request. Other than that, he'll stay there.
As you say, a strange hill
Oh look it was all just a big bunch of lols.
All coming from the so-called teacher who was preaching about maturity earlier on.
I do, the use of ye tells me he got bullied by the GAA team growing up, and he now takes a perverse pleasure in controlling kids as some kind of revenge even though 80% of his second years would slap the piss out of him. Every school has one.
What??
Making no sense whatsoever. "Teacher" (Lol)
No one is being asked to mix genders or pronouns. Just use gender neutral ones. Instead of he, say they. Instead of she, say they. It's not difficult.
Instead of John say whatever the young person wants e.g. Mary
A quick scan of his posts shows some interesting observations on other ethnicities and homosexuals, here is a flavour of his posts:

Absolutely no way !!
Those Butch lassies with a skinful on board will be more lethal than any hetero man can ever be
How can you even think to ask such a question !!!”
Yeah
No child should ever encounter anyone that would stand up for what they believe . Can’t be having that .
Given the way they're typing; between typos, grammatical errors, "Lols", the numerous times they have mentioned they're a teacher, and general level of maturity displayed, I'm guessing they are one of the students they supposedly teach.
Nope.
But the existence of this thread shows that some schools will hire any gobshíte no questions asked so theres a slight chance hes fluked a job.
The students would have a great time tearing the píss outta him tbf.
No child should encounter gender intolerance.
This is a long thread, Can someone summarise.
This is the gist I get.
-Burke has a high court injunction against him for refusing to stay away from his workplace.
-He was suspended for his behaviour for example, being out of order and making a show at a school anniversary dinner.
-Some people think he is being imprisoned because he refuses to use a gender neutral pronoun. And this is not the case.
So all in all, his own behaviour towards colleagues, pupils & staff was rude and out of line. When suspended as a result of his behaviour, he wouldn’t comply & continued to show up for work. The court injunction & imprisonment are a result of this. The gender neutral issue is not really the issue here, more a separate matter altogether.
Am I correct here or missing something?
"lights out"!
More or less spot on
You're bang on the money.
Some people here though will come back and derail the thread because they get upset by pronouns, and it's not trans people despite what they would like you to believe.
Indefinite detention for civil matters has never been tested by ecj , wud he go that far? AFAIK it's a type of detention that is full of legal loopholes, loads of case law around it . E.g if he is found to be insane he can move to cmh and get out that way or if another judge finds the contempt to be punitive rather than coercive he might b released
Yeah I'm not going to go down that legal rabbithole, its probably one for the legal forum to be honest. The only thing i will say is how long he remains in the joy is entirely under his control
These types of headline are misleading……… seem to lead to hysteria. Some guy I know has even put out a call to protest in support of Burke. Seems his behaviour is the problem here and not gender pronouns.
There are always two sides to a story if not more. Gender identity is another matter altogether.
Law Lecturer talking about this on TLW earlier, if Burke keeps it up, it can progress to criminal contempt and lead to a criminal conviction.
I know it’s spelt hole. I was being respectful. You hadn’t the cop to see that. That’s why you’re a teacher.
His sister is an equally large pain in the back passage. Took Arthur Cox and Co. to the WRC and lost the case. I hope no one ever employs these cretins again.
And a criminal conviction must have a Definite duration of detention , supreme court decided that in cases of criminal contempt.
