Sounds promising though. Good to know they are moving forward with some regional applicants.
Drivers are paid a composite rate but depending on your depot there is the possibility of working plenty of rest days throughout the year to make up that 5k gap you are looking for or potentially even more
Also, the 45k is a trainees pay so once a driver is passed out they go onto year 1 of a 10 year pay scale which starts at around 47.5k which will also increase with the new pay deal commencing at the end of September I believe
Same call yesterday
Does that leave you working 6 days a week on average though? I value money, but I value my free time even more. But I'm not complaining about the pay.
does anyone know for definite the timeframe (once you eventually start) f the training based in inchicore? How long are you there for before being sent to your Home Depot?
Approx 5 months I believe.
I thought that too but someone else had said it’s only 6 weeks in inchicore and remaining training in base depot. So just said I’d ask to see if anyone knew for sure
would be probably a 6 day week every 2 weeks at a rough estimate. I’d be the exact same as yourself, can’t put a price on time off!
has anyone here gone through the training process or does anyone know more details on this?
Its an old post (2019), but Rootsblower (A Driver) states its 32 weeks in Inchicore, that's 7 months. It may have changed since then but I don't know.
There's also the mentored driving after Inchicore, which takes a few months. And longer in the summer I believe, as you need a certain percentage of night time driving, which is harder to achieve with longer daylight hours.
Once you are driving on your own you'll be on 50k with the new pay deal aswell pretty much straight away
yes, its approx 5 months
Hi all, just got an email that I am in for phase 1 in Inchicore. I seen before on this thread which has been very helpful that the TRFS part is 10mins reading and 2 mins questions. Is the reading part long say a A4 lenght to learn, then answer qustions without notes.
Thanks for all the help so far.
I actually can't remember how long you have to answer the questions but it's basically an a4 sheet of reading the time I done it. I found writing down the main points on the extra sheet they gave you really helped getting it into my head. But it's not as bad as you think. Best of luck
Okay thanks for the help on it,
How many driver jobs are there for galway does anyone know.
As far as I know there’s no set figure on individual stations. It’s more a case of what stations need staff/drivers the quickest. It was meant to be 100 drivers over 4 years when they initially opened recruitment up a couple of years ago. This may have changed since then but they have kept quite tight lipped about exact figures and for what stations they are for I think
Ya they don't tell you a whole pile about where positions are going and how many. Hopefully we hear back soon about phase 1 anyway instead of the waiting game again
Lads the regional class is starting in Mallow on the 10th of October.
I guess that leaves Dublin open for a different class to start. I had originally thought that the regional class would be taking place in Dublin.
When was the last time they had a class in Mallow? There was some issue with a leaky roof, right?
Thanks for the info, Did you get an offer yet?
Yep got the official job offer today finally
Congratulations, best of luck with it! Guess Im still on the shelf!
Couple of years since Mallow was used.
Anyone get the email inviting you back for phase 2 assessments?
Yeah, email came in this afternoon for phase 2, they worked through that quickly.
Ya got mine aswell. They were very quick. Wonder how many got through. Next round will be fun.
Are ye all in for Galway depot lads or where are you trying for
