Not sure it was posted around here. It may interest some
Not sure a flat day rate is going to attract people who want it for a short while. And the requirement to return it to the station you started from instead of being able to return it to any station.
"Return your ESB eBike back to the station you started from. The app will not allow you to end your journey at a different station."
€10 a day is a bit much, almost cheaper to drive
It's a great idea in principal to get people cycling, but there's going to need to be some proper bike corridors through Dublin for it to take off
Cycling in from the suburbs can be taking your life into your hands in some places
Rare sight these days I thought. An Outlander fast charging at a 150kw unit. And a leaf waiting to charge (another leaf was already using the other plug)
There's something to be said for charging by the minute at HPCs
There’s precedent with taxi meters charging by distance or time.
i presume some of this is down to lack of education. Maybe the charge points should display the unit price clearly (like fuel links) so people realise they’re at a more expensive option? The display or app could even display a warning if the car is charging significantly slower than the charge point is capable of.
I'd say what happened in this instance is that the Outlander arrived to find the 50kW in use and plugged into the HPC
Higher price per kWh doesn't make a difference to him really, so what if it costs 50c extra? 🤷♂️
Regarding displaying the price, I noticed in the UK recently that all of the rapid chargers I used had the price displayed, either on the screen or on a sign. I wonder if that's part of the regulation now that requires them to have card readers as well
I don't like to compliment the UK government, but their charging strategy is way ahead of ours
Frankfield. Only a hpc there. 200kW actually if I'm not mistaken. And of the 3 cars there the best any could muster was 50kW
Not 1, not 2.
Not even 3!!
But 4 (four) pipes on this absolute masterpiece of self charging wizardry
I am really struggling to unpack that picture mentally
It's like staring at an Escher painting, it just doesn't seem to make any possible sense
Are they those fake exhausts that have a speaker built in?
I can't imagine you'll get any good revs from a hybrid with a CVT
Tesla used to do this but don't any longer, maybe some parts of the States still...
Maybe I’m talking out of my arśë but don’t taxis use a combination of time and distance to create the fare, maybe HPCs could do similar with throughput and time to make it punitive to use the charger for low capacity batteries that can only charge at a snails pace and also users hogging the charge when the rate of charge drops significantly past 80%. The infrastructure only works if it’s available when needed or queuing is kept to the minimum
You're correct, taxis charge by distance when they're moving and time when they aren't
I've seen some chargers in other countries that charge by both time and energy
Personally I think that's overly complex, I don't want to bring out the scientific calculator every time I want to figure out how much I spent
Perhaps a simpler method would be to add a few euros after every 10 mins. Discourages anyone hanging around too long
4 on this one also.
While it does not appeal to me, I do have some admiration for the nice cars and the effort some of the "younger generation" put into their cars, its nice to see them line up in a car park windows down and having fun, I remember my generation delighted to pick up an ill-fitting body kit.
Arah come on outta that.
It's a feckin toyota faux by faux mummy wagon.
What the…….is that….a 1990’s Mazda……..
A spacex with 4 falcon heavy exhaust system, based on a faux premium Tesla model 3,
to each his own,
I think I found our Waterford friend’s American cousin
Does anyone here have an Eflow tag and is getting the EV discount? I was looking through the invoices today and I'm struggling to figure out how and when they calculate the EV discount
I know they do it a month or so later, as in if I use the M50 in August, they'll calculate the discount in September
But I'm looking at the invoices and they seem completely random, there's months where I should have gotten a discount and didn't got one, and other where the discount amount seems bizarre
This is for too much thinking for a Tuesday morning 🤯
I'll come to his defense and say it sounds like he's been trying to resolve the situation for a while now and gotten no response
I hope he leaves a few chargers available, getting stuck in the middle of Utah is about one step away from hell
Seems like a fair response to me.
Came across well in the video.
Bit that is funny was that they were "limited" to 6 or 7 chargers
I know, I wish we had problem like that with ESB 🙄
Yep , still have the eflow tag.
Still emailing them every month for the EV discount. I keep my own spreadsheet as they don’t provide a breakdown of the discount (you have to calculate it yourself).
Once I get my outstanding discount refunded I’m moving.
Nobby seems very impressed with the Buzz.
For nigh on €70k it would want to be impressive…….
Yeah you need to move to tolltag.ie
I got sick of eflows nonsense. Now I pay the EV rate straight away instead of paying full rate and some magical wizard refund 6 weeks later
3 3/4 months to go. When introduced it was meant for the end of 2022. Considering the numbers doubling I imagine they will not extend it
The govt will be looking to reduce costs but you wouldn't know on this one. The toll scheme is a visible incentive but relatively small money as its also capped to €500
In contrast the grant and VRT rebates are €10k per car and costing millions. They might keep the toll incentive.
Budget day could be a tough one for EV's alright though and maybe that's a good thing. The manufacturers might start to provide more value.
yeah anyone changing providers now to avail of a better billing system are wasting their time as the scheme is due to end on December 31st. Unless of course it’s extended.

Yeah, if it gets extended I might change, although I don't really use the tolls frequently enough that it's worth the hassle
