The Green agenda is to.... rely on Russian Gas and Oil....
Makes complete sense.
Where i grew up,i dont think we have anything to fear in Ireland
I was sure too. I remember being surprised reading on oryx they killed no tanks in Ukraine but I can't find the reference now. The impression is they were killing tanks right left and center but that is often from other drones. Here's all I could find on it (no tanks mentioned) Bayraktar TB2 kill list in the Russian-Ukraine war 2022 - YouTube
and then back in to pour some more vodka on the coals 🙂
That would be Finland NATO vodka I think. 🤔
The consequences of the fuel/gas supply being decimated run FAR deeper than you wearing an extra pair of wooly socks in Winter 😄
Just remember, the vast majority of politicians don't give a damn about you, or your family. Not Putin, Zelensky, Varadker, or any of the puppets in Europe. Never forget that, my friend.
To be fair you did... But, you are one of the few regulars (been here years) that mostly (admittedly not exclusively) post updates that show Russia doing well. Maybe it's a to balance out tactic, but most of us wouldn't go near the sites you'd need to go to to get the pro Russian material.
The green agenda is to close fossil fuel plants in favour of windturbines and solar panels - however the pragmatic reality is that is not possible without spinning gas reserve. The reason is gas and not oil or coal is because gas is seen as the "cleanest" fossil fuel.
It is also green agenda not to develop gas fields because fracking bad, more fossil fuel extraction bad etc, but for some strange reason its totally OK to import.
Thats how we ended up as gas-dependent economies. Its eco-friendly and its cheap. But its not secure
To valuable drops to be put on the coals, needs to be drank only.
Reminds me of soviet Russia. Everyone had heat but could not turn it off so opened all the windows. 🤪
I was waiting for this reaction, and the irony of talking about the end of the world, when Putin have threatened nuclear war for the last 7 months.
This former senior US commander makes an interesting point about the calibre and discipline of the Russian troops :
Almost like your given some kit a car tank whatever some training and cases of vodka and told to attack.
They do seem very messy and ill disciplined (and numerous anecdotal reports of them being drunk at night time).
In fairness Russian news anchors are hot 😛
Does that make me a putinbot or a sexist?
Am I the only scratching my head wondering what Russian special tank submarine operations would look like 😂
I know we're not getting a real clear picture yet or seen the loses from the UAF side,
But it does seem (from footage released so far) that the Russians are getting an absolute kicking at the moment.
It does make you wonder if the supposed Russian strength and defensive positions are in a state of complete collapse.
Lets hope there still not making positions out of fertilizer.
Depth is only 1 factor, its also bloody wide. More than a mile in many parts, we cannot think in terms of rivers in Ireland, in Kreson its no longer really just a river its an estuary.
not the brightest spark
She certainly is. Can imagine her job interview. Or am I being very cynical about Russian society considering what they get up to in other countries.
But the Russians have been controlling the dams on the river ,it's actually lower than average not due to hot weather either
Estuaries will lose depth faster than width, but the point is that even with snorkles ect a mile is one hell of a distance to drive a tank underwater.
Manic, do you know the speed they can do underwater if the river bed is favourable?
I do think we need to be careful not to end up putting heads in the sand if Russia makes progress. By all means, lets be as sure as we can on what we're getting as intel is not Russian propaganda but if we denounce all the folks who may have uncovered something potentially legitimate but unpopular, we are going to end up getting a rosy version of the news, when the reality is much more serious.
Don't get me wrong, flying it on calling out the obvious bots and trolls, but someone highlighting a concern should spur conversation on how to address the concern, not to dismiss it.
And besides, if we were to ignore Russian media, we'd have never found the absolute gem when they managed to stop an assassin with his three copies of The Sims :D :D
one reactor providing power to the other ones, no idea how they intend to shutdown this reactor without grid connection, I highly doubt Russians would have been smart enough to not rob diesel from backup generators
Excellent post. I think when you want one side to win it's unfortunately human nature to apply different standards of fact-checking to news of them doing well versus their opponents doing well. Furthermore it's one of those biases that we don't even see ourselves doing.
That being said, the official Russian channels do seem to generate more outright lies than the official Ukrainian channels so it makes good sense to apply more rigorous fact-checking to the Russian sourced info.
lol Putin himself will stump up for the gas/electric bill for these great friends of Russia living in the West I'm sure!
A Ukrainian minister said seized money from the Russian oligarchs could be used to subsidize energy bills. Sounds sensible.
There’s 450 billion euros in Gazprombank, time for special freezing operations
probably few trillion in Russian (direct and via offshore) property around Europe too, about time there’s a clampdown on criminal Russian assets
My thoughts are those monies & assets should all should be identified + frozen for now, not be allowed to be sold/wound up & sneak out of the West to likes of Turkey etc. It can be held for a reparations fund. That makes sense to me, these oligarchs robbed it from Russia/the Russian people originally (with Putin's blessing probably) so it ending up going to Ukraine post war would seem fitting. I think it very unlikely that Russia will ever recompense Ukraine in any way for what it has done, even if they suffer a complete defeat and have to pull out.
