It's going to be a tough winter for everyone with prices but what's positive is that there seems to be no way back now, Russia has weaponised energy against all of Europe and even those who might not even care much about Ukraine will not be impressed at blackmail attempts. Russia has been exposed as a true mafia state (as well as war criminal state, obviously) that the EU clearly sees it needs to break away from completely
Is this 3 quarters still around the forum?
Ukrainian military liberated Ozerne village near Yampil in Donetsk region
There can be no going back to doing business with Russia, Europeans know that, but Russia doesn’t seem to know that Europe knows that.
The point was not who said it, the point is the Germans' reaction, which either proves the haven't a clue, or they are deceiving, or both. And fwiw anyone who was paying attention was saying the same thing, that EU becomes dangerously dependent of russian gas.
I wouldn’t be so quick to poop on the Germans, yes some of them got bought by Russian criminal money and sold their countrymen who are paying for it now.
However we in Ireland have zero gas storage, no lng terminals bring built and no nuclear plants to turn back on unlike the Germans.
What we have is Eamon Ryan and his **** eating grin as he’s dreams of Ireland regressing to pre industrial utopia might come true.
No attempt to temporarily cut taxes on fuels (more than half of petrol/diesel price are taxes)
No attempt at having discussion about nuclear power
No attempt at talking about 15 years of shale gas
No exportation around Corrib field or anywhere else
Nothing
True, but Ireland is not a policy maker in the EU like the Germans. Also, Ireland not dependent of russian gas.
Because fracking is all but banned all over EU, and that's because, you guessed it, russian lobby and influence.
Looks like Himars and 155mm excalibur rounds will have busy days ahead
See what the reciver thinks
HIMARS definitely making an impact:
If the Ukrainians have advanced as far as Tomyna Balka as per that map, then the 3 coastal towns west of the Dnipro: Stansilav, Syroka Balka and Soflivka are effectively cut off from the rest of the Russian forces on the West bank.

Thats the rumours, and yes like you said they will be cut off.
Seems like Ukraine have mastered the pincer movement in many of their attacks so far
Kremlin media watchers have spotted that the regime is barely reporting a word about the counter offensive on its news and current affairs shows - it may be an indicator that all is not going well for them.
Seems so,its only the kremlin trolls and the useful idiots that seems active so far trying their best to sabotage their succsess with disinformation, but then again Ukraine have kept it rather silent up untill now as well.
It wont be an easy task for Ukraine, thats for sure, but they seem very motivated and up for the task ahead.
Some more gains
This should be good indication that things are not going well
Looks like Russia is buying time to get reinforcements and dig in by proposing peace talks
Bayraktars causing havoc for russian air defences
The regime have never reported a word on any counter offensive, nothing that would shed the regime in a bad light. I'd say they are busy coming up with an excuse when they have to pull back (I don't think that's possible with the bridges out). They can't use the aul Kyiv attack/withdrawal excuse again.
No doubt what ever they come up with will be comical.
Seems like a lot of gains in Donetsk. Maybe the Kherson offensive, wasn't actually the big offensive and it was more spread out.
I also see in the news this morning that Britain will be training Ukrainian civilians in the UK. The Great Offensive may be yet to come.
must be awesome to live in a free country where protesting doesn’t get you sent to Siberian gulag at best, killed at worst.
Should people be allowed to protest against free speech?
if they win the argument then there will no longer be free speech.
The fact we are seeing loads of Bayraktar videos lately while big pause before shows Russia doesn’t have control of air here, those anti radar missiles must have made radar operator an even more dangerous specialisation in Russian military than ammo depo guard.
No, people shouldn't be allowed to campaign against fundamental human rights. Also, russians living in the west and supporting Russia should have their visa revoked, that being a privilege and not a right.
Noticed a few SAM batteries being hit over a couple of days. Might be that Ukraine managed to knock out their air cover in this area, and for whatever reason the Russians are having a hard time re-establishing / replacing it.
They're in some extra trouble if they can't re-establish air cover against the Bayraktars. The Russian-armed Armenians were systematically picked off by the Turkish-armed Azeris in that Nagorno-Karabakh War a couple of years ago, thanks in no small part to Turkish drone tech. This isn't exactly the same kind of fight, but the similarities in tech on each side make it an interesting comparison to look at.
First off I would not be so fast to have a pop off Germany. This was the country that took on it own reunification at a tremendous cost. To ensure equality it gave parity to the East German mark with the western one. This was a huge costs when all the advice was to swap it at 2 or 3 to one.
On the present offensive I am not so sure that the encircled areas will hold out like Mariupol. In Mariupol you had a the fanatical Asov regiment which fought on for a long time because surrendering without a negotiated surrender was not an option. I am not sure the average Russia squadie will have the same fanatism he know he will not be mistreated and will probably receive better food than he dose at present.
The irony of using a platform of freedom of speech, to protest against your host nations freedom of speech, will forget be lost on these turds.
Also, the Azov didn't have any easy escape route since Mariupol was surrounded on all sides. The Russians can escape relatively easily, should they choose to do so - at the cost of lost territory, huge numbers of heavy equipment and a massive moral boost for Ukraine. Most of them are contracted soldiers, from impoverished Siberian Republics who are in it purely for the money. No way they'll be fighting to the last bullet, like the Azov did, if they know they can cut and run long before that.
One would have to presume that the Russian state is what's really behind that German protest, not just ordinary Russian immigrants, although some may be there too. No one with an ounce of sense thinks that trade can revert to normal.
Another plus is that the West has finally woken up and realised that it cannot be reliant on potentially belligerent autocracies for its energy needs. Vladimir Putin has (unintentionally) done more for the transition away from fossil fuels than any Green Party in the world. In the annals of history that will likely be his greatest legacy.
Apparently, with the bridges across the Dniepr down, they are trying to move supplies over the river via helicopter and are using that airport as the drop off point. That's obviously an extremely inefficient manner of transportation and also limited in terms of weight (they won't be carrying any tanks for example). They don't really have any other options at this stage though.
