Could be,its either what you said or a mass surrendering from the Russians
We will see,its still to early to make any conclusions
I am getting an increasing sense that things have not gone well.
There are reports from Ukrainian sources that today has been declared a day of mourning for the Transcarpathia region of Ukraine, declared in honour for the local unit which sustained losses in this attack. Another Ukrainian Facebook post from a hospital published a note asking for blood donations, and it's clear from the WSJ article that the local hospitals are under a lot of pressure due to casualties.
Today is the first day I've seen the liveuamap move (which has generally been very accurate). The advances made have been very small, a few km's here and there, a few tiny settlements taken. Some will say there's a media blackout, but if things were going well, you'd have to think after day 5, Ukraine would want to put out some positive news on the attack.
Oh, and before anyone accuses me of being a Putin Bot (I'm not, I am for Ukraine).
Seems like a good judgement of Ukraines plans
they are certainly not in a hurry to take on the russians,if they continue to isolate the russian forces by destroying bridges, pontoon bridges, barges and ferries crossing, and continue to take out supplylines, ammo depots and command centres, the russians will break eventually without to many shots fired.
The last few days offensive was done because the russians lines was weak in a few places, and i think they have plugged the gaps by now.
Think it could be similar to what happened in Luhansk and Severodonetsk but with the Ukrainians attacking. Slow grinding progress but progress nonetheless.
You can get calls for blood donations in Ireland... does that mean I should expect Russian troops on our streets any time soon?
Besides, had you EVER an increasing sense that that things were going well for Ukraine?
What would one expect a Putinbot to say? Hmmm...
"Oh, and before anyone accuses me of being a Putin Bot (I'm not, I am for Ukraine)."
Actually now we do know for certain, because they've said no chance, which is what everyone here apart from you predicted:
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/sep/02/germany-rejects-polands-claim-it-owes-13tn-in-war-reparations
IAEA inspectors asking for an explanation as to why it looks like artillery shells have come from Russia controlled areas .
The shells spin 180 degrees before landing to make it look like it came from Russians occupied areas.
Holy Kool aid batman
Yes, if anyone can be bothered investing 10 minutes to get informed rather than relying on twitter, the Economist podcast "Ukraine's bid for Kherson" explains how complex the situation is, possible aims and things Ukraine may NOT seek to achieve, and how whatever the outcome is, success or failure, it will be slow and brutal:
https://www.economist.com/podcasts/2022/09/01/theyve-been-emphasising-that-this-is-going-to-take-a-long-time-ukraines-bid-for-kherson
And that's the end of it .
No
There are videos of queues spilling onto the streets of people in line to give blood over the last 2 days in Mykolaiv and Odessa. Thats nothing like a normal call of blood donation.
The head of the intensive-care unit where some of the soldiers were being treated said the military warned him of the offensive a week in advance, spurring hopes of imminent victories.
“But when they started bringing in such a large number of wounded, then, honestly, I felt sorry for them and I started wondering if this was worth doing at such a cost,” said the doctor. “I don’t know. There’s no right answer here.”
Ukrainian officials and military analysts have said that Ukrainian losses, even if the offensive is successful, could be high as they are assaulting an entrenched enemy with significant firepower that can quickly chew up troops.
...
The doctor said he spends some nights on a small couch in his office after more than half his staff stopped coming to work following a Russian rocket attack on the hospital in August. He said he felt on the verge of a breakdown as he has dealt with more soldiers than at any time since the first weeks of the war.
Even if it goes well there will be significant losses.
I’m sure those who were blaming Ukraine for attacking the NPP will be able to demonstrate using physics how this can be possible.
Erm, just checking... you do realise Russia has invaded Ukraine and there's a war on... Blood donation drives in such a circumstances IS the norm. A line of people giving blood is to be expected. To say this is proof of the Ukraine offensive going badly is beneath even some Putinbots.
"Even if it goes well there will be significant losses."
Sadly, so. The alternative?
Sounds like maybe Ukraine is trying to strecth the frontline and make several fronts and take advantage of a thinner defence line to break trough.
Combined with continuing attacks on russian supply lines to weaken the russian defences and moral.
I wouldn't be relying on a map update when there's a media blackout and the Ukrainian's are staying tight lipped. As you said it's only updating when they announce a town/village liberated. They certainly won't be doing that within hours of them liberating it as the Russians would just shell it.
Maybe positive news soon:
Blood donations have not been at this level of demand before - which means they either anticipate a large amount needed, or they already need a lot of blood. Which means casualties. To deny that there will be a high level of casualties even if they are successful is just plain stupid.

The Russians surely know what towns theyve lost - they would have had a presence there until they didnt. Its not like a game of minesweeper 🤣
Been through Twitter and elsewhere and can't find videos of huge amount of people donating blood anywhere hardly a mention,
Seen people queuing for aid packages and people enjoying the night life in Odessa,a war going on and still people are going for meals and drinks
The WSJ is article is behind a paywall,
Gain some territory and get the long range missiles to blast Russian positions with the help of those US super satellites

That's impressive almost real time knowledge re the Ukraine health system. Can you supply for us with the evidence of this?
The italic bit - so, you're going from defending a post saying blood donations are a sign of the offensive going badly to... it being simply good planning?
I was thinking perhaps it was a Framework laptop, which my daughter is getting, which is modular and you buy the bits you want and self assemble, but the ports on the side don't match, so I'd guess it's an older Apple product, perhaps bought as parts on ebay from several dead ones and assembled in Belorus
If they get close enough to Kherson itself, the whole city is going to erupt with Partisan warfare. It will be like Paris in Aug44 all over again.

Care to point out where I did this?
You responded to my post to Francis with your post... why else did you quote me?
Blood drive in Mykolaiv.
@timmyntc There are videos of queues spilling onto the streets of people in line to give blood over the last 2 days in Mykolaiv and Odessa..
Can you post the videos if you get a chance?
Your post implied that it was just the bog-standard regional blood donations same as we get in Ireland - that is not the case. I never said anything about the offensive definitively going badly or not.
The Ukrainians are advancing, there will be casualties, there always is. The civilians are doing their part by donating supplies and blood.
Don't be so stupid. Ukraine or any sensible army wouldn't be giving real-time info about what town has been just liberated especially when there's a media blackout.
We've heard so many stories of Russian soldiers not being able to communicate with higher ups etc.... No reason to think that's not still the case. You never show your hand to the enemy and you always keep them second guessing.
As long as it doesn't turn out like Warsaw in August 1944.
Try archive.ph if its behind a paywall.
Thanks
