Well said
In meantime Space Shuttles sit in various museums lovingly preserved and inspiring new generations of kids into STEM
while the shuttle engines are about to help get back to the moon with Artemis program
aside; most Russian equipment in this war is as old or older than the Buran, there’s something to chew on
Isn't he a sex tourist? Comes across as really creepy from the stuff i watched from him years ago anyway.
I wonder were the Russians trying to recruit bald to portray pro Putin stuff on his channel is that why he left? He would be invaluable as a propaganda tool with 3m plus subscribers.
That thing was just allowed to rot in a giant hangar, which is basically symbolic of the Russian attitude towards maintenance in general.
Bald and Bankrupt, though, he's really good. Probably the best 'gonzo' travel vlogger on Youtube, that I've seen. Not only does he go to places off the beaten track, but he can speak the language as well, so it's a whole other level of interaction. There are other vloggers who are very good, but usually need a local chaperone/interpreter to help them, which takes the quality down just a notch.
And his Russian videos are very good at just showing ordinary Russians, who are no different from ordinary people elsewhere, it's just they have to swallow Putin's paranoid worldview.
Wooden HIMARS. Maybe wooden M777s as well?
I had seen other Youtubers break into the hanger before (which I feel is part of the reason the Buran hanger has had extra security in recent years.
But seeing a Soviet-fan such as Bald finally reach the Buran and breathlessly present "A Soviet Spaceship" had more impact I feel. It was clearly an important moment for him.
yes that scene where he revealed the discarded hulk of the buran in the abandoned spaceport was just iconic. Really and truly the potential of Russia as a place to visit and explore is infinite and all gone to waste.
I believe that they are using wood models to act as decoys
Russian base was destroyed in Tavriysk of Kherson region, - General Staff of Armed Forces of Ukraine says in the morning report
The German journalist photos are not from this weeks counter offensive,
They were debunked pretty much straight away
I don't know how he's arriving at that conclusion. Ukraine has said nothing since Sunday and the Russians claim the advance has been beaten back. Only thing we can be fairly certain of was that a battle took place and both sides took casualties.
There's going to be a good bit of operational silence from Ukraine for a while about the offensive, which is a good battle tactic but does give the Russians the opportunity to fill that silence with misinformation.
It's probably best to take all news of the fight, both positive and negative, with a load of salt while we wait for more verified accounts of what is happening. Could be weeks before anything concrete crops up.
Just to be clear those "terrible videos" that Fritz would only post of screenshots are:
Ukranians firing at Russians, a Ukranian being treated for a face wound, (note he didnt choose a screen shot of the wounded guy when he was giving the thumbs up to the camera) and an abandoned Ukrainian tank having a muntion dropped on it.
I think Fritz is being very German.
I loved Bald's videos, he really brought out the human side of Russia and many of the ex-Soviet states. His videos were always a pleasure to watch, and his daring attempt to sneak into to the Buran in the middle of the night was surprisingly gripping.
Before the war, he did do a tour of Ukraine which included many places that have since became battlegrounds in this war. Probably to the Russian's ire, he created a similarly human image of the Ukrainians, which no doubt pissed off the current administration.
I will miss his videos, he was one of those rare truly positive contributors to YouTube.
Seems unlikely that a Russian Telegram channel would make up a lie about 100 of their own soldiers surrendering.
Inflatable plastic decoys I think I read somewhere recently.
And you assume the side you support must be the truth, the other side a lie?
Or simply saying no one has a clue what's really happening?
….
Russian Telegram channel suggesting 100 Russians surrendered near Stepova Dolyna, Kherson.
For balance, a German journalist has suggested the recent offensive is a disaster.
They waived that right in 1953 and are now suddenly claiming it was all under duress. That the EU are requiring them to behave like a proper democratic country for EU funding of course has absolutely nothing to do with it.
The popular YouTube blogger bald and bankrupt has been kicked out of Russia. He is a British fluent Russian speaker. He was non political in his videos and showed the ordinary human face of Russia. He used to get drunk with the roughest of Russian Gopniks( scumbags). Went to places that middle class Russians, never mind westerners, would never go. Loved to show old soviet paraphernalia, recently got daring footage of the old soviet space station In Kazakhstan.
why they would kick him out I don’t know. His videos were very positive towards Russia as a place and it’s culture. He spent a night in a prison cell and then he had to walk across a bridge into Estonia and said he would never set foot in Russia again.
While completely leaving out Stalin's part in trying to carve up eastern Europe between him and the Austrian corporal before the war.
It's very "Russian" historically. The rulers at the top like sending a clear message to those just below them, their boyar class, those who benefit from their rule who they expect 100% loyalty from to keep the rest in line. They tend to leave ordinary Russians alone. They're not a threat to their rule.
Would it not be handier to just inject an in-patient target with some sort of lethal serum or have him shake hands with Mr. Novichok? Something that would even halfway allow for plausible deniability? And if the Russian government doesn't care about plausible deniability, then why not just say, "Yeah, we killed that guy. He was a traitor and deserved to die horribly."?
Considering wish.com delivery times it must have been ordered just after Christmas.
Believe so,they have somehow managed to create a limited air superiority after several attacks on Russian air defences and airfields
Even worse russia has lot around 60% of tanks force, similar numbers of other vehicles, armor jets and helicopters
Meanwhile Ukraine has gained more tanks , helicopters and tanks than they had pre invasion 7 months ago.
Despite Russia having bombed every tank , armoured vehicle , artillery, jets and helicopters 10 times over
Looks like they're taking advantage of the "breathing space" created by the Ukrainian Air Force managing to turn their MiG-29s into launch platforms for AGM-88 HARM missiles. I've only recently started following the war again but it seems to me as if Russian SAM capabilities in the south have been seriously degraded. The Bayraktars wouldn't be able to operate that unmolested otherwise.
Or maybe spray you with a dose of novichok
I like how they keep repeating they've destroyed Ukraine's air force, and then the next day claim to have shot down another couple of MiGs.
