Absolutely, but I'd say if you got a good southerly with a big tide it could get interesting
Sorry to get all nerdy on you about this, but the predictions for the change in climate for Ireland is not for pleasant, long, sunny summers, but more rain and more infrastructure-damaging storm and tide events.
Sorry to get all nerdy on you about this, you're wrong. Less rain annually and higher temperatures.
Also, science can't properly explain why the north Atlantic hurricane seasons are reducing in frequency and duration. Rising sea temperatures have not increased the hurricane severity and occurrence despite predictions saying it would...
It would be unusual because the wind would have to be coming in from the south but a big storm passing by at high tide could do it
Bunnacurry House: looks like fireplace opening covered with a drawer-like board and fireguard to one side?? Says central heating, no mention of open fire.
Took a look on street view. Interesting landscaping in house next door.
Cape Clear is a very busy place in summer as they host all the summer Gaelic courses.. I checked it out way back. But yes, long winters.
I like this house

That is really nice. The landscaping in particular is very well done.
it would be awesome.
That's a lot of money for a house in the middle of nowhere. I remember reading last year, or the year before, that part of the country is the cheapest place to buy houses in Ireland.
That is a lovely house, only reservation would be that it is north facing, the windows on the other sides are minimal.
It's 15 mins from the centre of Ballina, 20mins if it's busy. I grew up in 'the middle of nowhere'. That house is very well placed.
I don't like the landscaping, the garden needs to be mowed constantly. I'd have a lot of it in orchard and fruit bushes.
does the bee movie come with the house?
No, but the previous owner forgot to log out of their Netflix account!
A fine house, something a little American about the decor that's not entirely keeping with the house. The furniture looks oversized? A lot of beige going on there too.
Love the cinema room.
I like the house - its nicely done outside and nothing that offensive inside either. I think it could lose its appeal though very quickly if living in it. Inside it seems a warren of weird angled rooms which would annoy me. The kitchen and dining area seems a bit dark in the video - poor given the size of the house. I would also find it strange that the kitchen is on the first floor - I except though that this was done to take advantage of the views.
I really like the house but I'm not mad about the flat roof section. From experience, it's very rare to have a flat roof not leak eventually.
One of these would be handy for mowing the grass.
One of those houses where the outside does not prepare you at all for what lurks inside
Is that Netflix or one of those dodgy apps with a similar name to the room that it is in...
The interior is truly awful. Nothing I like about it.
I think that you will find they built to endure the weather as they do out here and on the coast. My home and the older house next door have the gable end wall that has no windows facing north on the shore above tide level and that has been the case in all my coastal homes. That photo looks as if the gable end will bear the brunt not the front. It will be an adventure as it is here but safe You build for the least exposure for the prevailing wind..
Must have gotten a deal on marble effect tiles and white paint.
They don't match at all with each other, do they?
There is a door going directly into the first floor from a drive that goes round the back of the house. They have used the windowless room that is cut into the hillside as the cinema room, which provided it has some sort of ventilation is quite a good idea. If you do in fact want a cinema room.
Agree the Donegal house is very black and white and low ceilings, not a great deal of appeal. Not even something you could do much about.
This partial en-suite is an interesting choice...
The kitchen table reminded me of the girl in the red dress in Schindler's List.
😂🤣Jaysis I have just realised thats an actual toilet next to the window. An open plan ensuite 😱
That outside wood cladding is a terrible choice in the west and north west of Ireland. Very high maintenance with the weather we get here.
