Ok then well that’s that. The new parking set up looks to be designed to cram in a few more spaces with the expense of making everyone stop and reverse back into each space. Looks to me like the jams will be 10 times worse come Xmas. Now we know why.
Did you ever feel for the staff who walked or cycled or bussed it, and didn’t have their transport choices subsidised by their employer?
That's not an unknown concept in areas where toilet facilities are in demand, like the Stephen's Green centre in Dublin. There is a difference in toileting and driving though. Toileting is a basic human requirement. Driving is a convenience.

Look at Barcelona and Paris indeed.
both have state of the art public transport.
in Paris and Barcelona the Metro actually has stops inside or under shopping centres.
in Paris you can get from the Latin Quarter out to La Defense in 25 minutes.
13 kilometres
.
Something like the Luas stops beside Jervis and Dundrum shopping centres?
No luas to Liffey Valley
Absolutely no issue with Hines charging for parking, if it were my business I'd most likely do the same, what I do have an issue with is the proposal that it is being done for some greater good, and the motorists paying for it will have a better experience for it - fcuk off
Parking in Blanch is still 100% free and I suspect they'll be delighted to hear about paying for parking in Liffey Valley now, it'll mean more customers for them.
Charging staff to park is a bit much, would they not even set up a staff car park and/or give them passes? Retail is hardly well paid enough to be paying to park for your entire shift.
Why should the non.s pay for healthcare for substance abuse
Yes, although I’m not sure how even you could suggest a subsidy for walking…
If you're going to skip past Liffey Valley and go to Blanch instead then more than likely you'll go through the M50 toll twice.
i suspect there's not that much crossover. especially since for a lot of people, the difference between the two involves driving narrowish backroads, or a double trip over the westlink which would negate the savings.
nah, a tram and a metro are two different things. Luas, a more or less not for purpose system built with pretty much zero integration with other facets of public transport here…
Les Halles and La Defense , served by rapid, far reaching and interconnected and integrated public transport.
both have stations under / inside them.
How were the driving staff being subsidised over the non driving staff?
The back roads aren't that bad. I reckon a lot of people in the area (Lucan, Clondalkin, Dublin 15, etc) would go to both Liffey Valley and Blanch on different occasions and when it's a quick visit they may opt for the free parking. Just a hunch, sometimes the idea or the optics will put people off more than anything. @Wheety might be right about the M50 toll putting off people who won't go on the back roads.
Does Paris have Metro stations at EVERY shopping centre?
It should have been that way from the start. It will nudge people to think about whether they really need to travel by car. It will benefit our planet.
I suspect they’ll be delighted to know that they can safely implement paid parking in Blanch.
If you’re going to subsidise the staff who drive with free storage space, what benefit are you going to provide to the staff who don’t drive?
If only there was some way to switch from the bus to the Luas or vice versa, or Luas to train or vice versa, with an integrated ticketing system to minimise the cost?
By being provided with free storage space for their private property.
Annoying when someone blows a gaping hole in one of your nonsensical comments, isn't it?
I believe the charge for staff is €4 per day.
Easy to do when you're a childless windbag who has never changed a nappy let alone tried to do the shopping with a pram and a toddler or two in tow.
Surely it's time for you to slither down out of your ivory tower and get real for a change? Try it - you'll be surprised how good it feels.
Liffey Valley have never managed their parking spaces. The two rows of disability spots by the main entrance are constantly full of non-badge holders dropping off / waiting for / collecting others, or blocked by double parkers using the PTSB ATMs or running in for Starbucks. Nobody manages those spaces! Blanch at least does enforce blue badge parking.
The Square has the first two hours free - and now a new Penneys. Not sure if its open yet, but the big blue Penneys signs are up on the outside. Not a fan of the Square, or Penneys myself, but did bring my daughter to LV so she could shop there. The new store in Tallaght, combined with the free parking, should attract some more custom back to the Square.
Staying free for Ukrainian cars.
So who do you think pays for the parking facilities there?
If only there was some way to transport babies and toddlers that didn’t involve a car?
I’d hope those cyclists would be charged appropriately for “being provided with free storage space for their private property.”
I’ve seen vehicles clamped there, so there is some degree of management. I’ve also seen flagrant abuse of the disabled parking, so I’d share your concerns about the effectiveness. There is also vast amounts of space at a prime location dedicated to park, at a huge opportunity cost. Someone needs to pay.
