Can I buy 12 of these and change them every month for a year. Do the codes expire after a period of time?
You can add it on. It appears as a voucher in your account to redeem.
Another question about the sticks. If I set up three of them say, I understand that I will have three Sky Sports vouchers on my account. Can I just activate each of these when I need them, or will they activate automatically when each is used up.
i.e. Let's say I set up three sticks, and activate voucher 1 today. In thirty days time will I lose my access to Sky Sports, until I activate voucher 2?
This would be handy if there were a week or two where I didn't mind not having a subscription.
My personal experiences with Now stick and activating codes. Activating codes is straight forward setting up the now stick. Redeeming vouchers stack but only X mounts ahead. Three in my case when i added a stick i just pressed redeem and it added a month utill I added another stick yesterday to my account this time Sky Sports redeem banner was was like greyed out I could add the forth stick but this time it said redeem after x date which was three month in my case. So I didn't add anymore.
Yes. But you can activate anytime within that month it will just add it on.
This offer has now ended (just got that while trying to apply it)
Yes you can activate it anytime within that month. One thing to watch out for is that you will be charged full amount if you let a voucher lapse even if you have others stacked but have not activated them, better to activate them within that month leading up to expiry.
I will probably cancel over the World Cup and then reactivate when football resumes after it.
Just got an unskippable ad there for the first time on Now, and didn't know what to do with myself, it's so long since I've seen an ad while watching TV
Not a fan to say the least, so I think I'll finish up with Now after this month is up.
Anyone had them in movies? Or is it just series?
Have you boost?
No I never really paid attention to Boost as I can't watch in surround sound, it's only me using it, and i'm lucky if I get any definition, never mind high def with my internet being so bad..
I just obviously missed where they were adding ads to the standard packages.. Ugh!
I think you need to have boost now to avoid the ads.
I think I read earlier in the thread that Netflix are introducing something similar.
I hope the ads don't show up unexpectedly during live sport
If they do that it will be time for alternative IPTV. Don't alienate your user base Sky
I can’t see ads ever appearing literally while a game is being played! Don’t think even Sky are that stupid
I presume the ad would be at the start of you turning on the service? Like YouTube or online podcasts/radio.
I use now tv at the moment for entertainment and cinema packs with boost and there is zero ads, for a few euro it’s well worth the extra especially if you can find someone to share it and pay half the bill
They announced the ads at the same time as the cut in standard prices for entertainment and cinema. So the cinema and entertainment went down to €12 and the boost went up to €5.
For somebody who had both entertainment and cinema at the standard prices (whoever they are - I've never met them) is now paying €29 instead of €30 for the same service
As far as I know the live (linear) tv is not affected by the ads. If somebody could confirm that would be great
No they are in what would have been the ad slots when the show was aired on tv except it's 1-2 ads, not the full 5 minutes you're subjected to on live tv.
So it’s the same as if you subscribed to normal sky tv via satellite as I presume they still show ads on live tv?
Watched the Grand Prix and Premier league over the weekend - the ads are the normal live tv ads - i.e half time etc - not breaking the flow
Sorry I should have clarified, I was only talking about watching box sets not live tv. E.g. last night we watched the new episode of House of the Dragon and that had a few ad breaks in it but only 1-2 ads at a time. I don't really watch live tv on the NOW stick so someone else might be able to fill us in on that one :)
I watched the second episode on nowtv yesterday but not live and you get the game of thrones screenshot a few times throughout the episode for a second where you’d usually get ads then it goes back to the program. I love nowtv for it’s price and lack of contract and think it’s a handy option to have but only when it’s on a special offer, at the normal price you’d be better off with sky itself imo
