Has it been 4 years already ? Jaysis!
It does definitely seem to be paying dividends.
You are unbelievable. A man wins four tournaments in one season, more than anybody else, including a major and you say he bottled it.
The fact that the two things, driving and putting, that he's clearly struggled with over the last six weeks means nothing at all?
I don't think you watch golf. At this stage you are just trolling.
Being able to survive on any pro tour is impressive but McIlroy’s performance has been extraordinary. Younger people may not be aware how long we had to wait for players from this island like him and the rest of the recent crop. I’ve also been impressed with the way he’s handled himself on the LIV controversy. Many have put their foot in it there.
He lost from 6 shots ahead, did you watch his final round? Stop being petrified of the world bottle , its only a word. People on here disagree with me on Rorys ability to win more majors but i can guarantee you they will begrudingly admit scheffler did bottle sunday. His other 4 wins have zero standing on sunday and you call me a troll!
For me someone who bottles does so on a regular basis. They lack a mental strength to get them over the line. Having a bad round does not mean you bottled it. Scheffler who has won quite a bit this season did not bottle the tournament. He just didn't play well, for you there seems to be no difference.
Thats for you. He bottled that round for me and most would agree. Shooting one of the crappest scores of the day on the final day when 6 shots ahead is always a bottle job. Even that last hole , my jaysis.
Exactly. I pointed out a few pages ago that his driving accuracy over the last couple of days hurt his score. A lot of the time when he was off line he was scrambling to get par. But he had the game and the mental strength to keep doing that without dropping shots and picking up the odd birdie when he was in a position to do so.
Who are 'most' I haven't seen anyone agreeing with you?
Well about 10 disagreed with me on Rory and people were getting very worked up. About 2 now on scheffler , they wont agree with me because of the Rory thing , but i guarantee you most do agree that Scheffler bottled that. Course he did. Plain as night.
You have a very annoying habit of presenting an opinion as a fact, maybe that's why people are getting 'worked up' as you call it.
And you still have no idea what 'bottle' is - how in the name of jaysus could a bottler become World Number 1 and win a Major in the same season? Some insult to the rest of the tour if that's the case.
When did i present it as fact??? I said multiple times it was my opinion re Rory. Okay well ill give you an excellent example , Danil Medvedev , no 1 in the world in tennis , he had hammered djokovic at the us open final , a few short months later he finds himself 2 sets up against nadal at the australian open and boom he bottles it. The season they are having has **** all to do with , i like scottie , but he bottled sunday. I never said he was a consistent bottler.
This 100 %
So basically anyone that loses from a winning position has bottled it?
I'm glad we have established that you have no idea what you are talking about.
Progress.
You do realise sometimes in sport things dont go your way? know matter how much of a lead you have! All you need is a change in momentum. Thats why sport is great its not a bottle job! A bottle job is someone who does it regularly. A tournament worth 18 million is a lot more pressure than a major worth 2 million imo.
Colin Montgomerie, Lee Westwood, Paul Casey. Phil Mickelson (In the US Open). These are the ones that spring to mind when you mention 'bottle'
I heard him commenting on the LIV thing the other day, he was rude & derogatory. Along the lines that it would churn his stomach to play with some other pros.
If I was a fellow pro player, I'd tell him where to go. He has no right to try and dictate what others choose to do or criticise their decisions. They're all in it for the money including McIlroy.
Correct!! There's never any consideration given to the player/players that come from behind and win (sometimes just blitzing it).
Rory "bottled" it at the open this year. Let's not give Cameron Smith any credit for an unbelievable last round. Was it 5 birdies in a row? Almost unheard of.
So in your opinion, he has no right to have an opinion. Glad we cleared that up.
Folks, take the tone down please, at some stage we have to accept different opinions and move on...
Nobody can say with any certainty whether or not Rory will win any more majors. Given his ability and the way he has played this season, I think it’s extremely likely that he will.
But anyone saying that he definitely will or definitely won’t is stating an opinion and presenting that opinion as fact.
I have said countless times its my opinion.
I gave you a perfect example of a world no1 bottling it and you just brushed over it. Losing from a winning position is not always bottling it. What a farcical thing to say.
And countless other times you have expressed it as a factual assertion.
But it’s not just you. Others have expressed opinions (usually opposite to yours) in equally unequivocal terms.
You are a troll and you have no clue. As I said Scheffler has been struggling with his driving and putting for 6 weeks. When the course was playing easy with balls sticking on the green as soon as they landed whether they came from the fairway or rough it was easy for him. As soon as the greens dried up a bit, on Sunday, he suffered because of his wayward driving. His putting hasn't been great either.
He had two missed cuts in the four weeks prior to the Tour Championship. What does that tell you? It tells you he is having bad rounds of golf just like he did on Sunday.
Colin Morikawa had two missed cuts in the four weeks prior to the Tour Championship with the same issues as Scheffler. He shot the same score as Scheffler on Sunday. Did Morikawa bottle it or was it just that his struggles with his driving and putting came to the fore with firmer greens on the Sunday?
Rory hit his worst round by 2 shots on the final day , he was in the bottom 15% score on the day. He would have been offered a job in coca cola after that.
To be honest you start your spiel with you are a troll and have no clue -ive no interest in conversing with you, ive been right about my opinion on Rory for 5 years now. People can have different opinions without them being trolls. Scheffler in my opinion bottled sunday , one of the worst rounds of the day when it mattered most. Thats enough for me to label that a bottle job. If you dont want to , thats your choice. Good day to you sir.
Most dont understand this concept to be honest, people getting severely worked up about saying scheffler in my opinion bottled sunday. And that Rory doesnt have the mind to win another major. Neither very radical opinions but getting castigated for them.
Why do people engage in conversation with this lad?
I've given you facts about Scheffler and compared him to another great golfer with the same issues over the last while who shot exactly the same round with firmer greens on Sunday.
You don't even address any of that. That's what a troll and/or clueless person does.
