This is actually one of their main narratives, that Ukraine is the "anti-Russia" and poses a huge "threat" to them. "We had to invade them before they invaded us" and all this nonsense.
The counteroffensive begins. God speed Ukraine
Lots of reports that Russias first line of defence has been breeched at Kherson, Ukrainians advancing.
Interestingly we saw much more of that in the early days and see much fewer splatted Sukhois on the ground of late. What this tells me is not that the Russian airforce has learned and is in control, but much more that they don't dare send their aircraft next nor near Ukrainian held territory because the risks are too high.
Looks like they have gone into panic mode
In control of what, they are losing aircraft week in and week out ,
And with more advanced Air defense systems coming online in Ukraine Russia is losing the ability to launch anything but very limited runs to launch unguided rockets
Something big is definitely happening around Kherson alright. Apparently Russian and Ukrainian Telegram channels are hopping right now, with suggestions that Ukrainian attacks are coming from multiple directions.
Already taken positions .
We will catch them up with their own bullets
That's an old video.
This doesn't look like it's going to age well...
Interesting insight at the end where the hardline Russian politician is worried that regional battalions will gain too much experience in Ukraine and come back and fight for their own independence from Russia.
Russian governments are always paranoid about their military becoming too powerful. That’s another retardant factor that rarely gets mentioned.
Lads, stop messing around nuclear reactors!
The LiveUA map I was referencing earlier is now showing reports of the counter offensive. I hope it goes well for them.
That’s on south side of the river by the Dam looking at google

Ukrainian forces have begun "shaping" operations in South Ukraine to prepare the battlefield for a significant Ukrainian counteroffensive, two senior US officials briefed on the intel tell. US believes the long-anticipated counteroffensive will include air and ground ops
I have a very bad feeling about that plant. It has been messed around with for a long time now, and that doesn’t look like stopping. The longer you do something like that, the more you can rationalise and normalise the dangers to yourself. If - when - Putin starts feeling beaten, I wouldn’t put it past him to do something horrible ultimately. For now, it’s “just” playing with fire on a massive scale. :(
Ukraine is hammering russian positions
Maybe to early to call it a offensive, but something is in the making
Looking at nasa firms page there are fire spots all along the line sorta, I doubt it’s agricultural as rest of Ukraine and Russia nearby has very few fire spots
There seems to be a lot of activity around Kherson in particular, but we're getting very little in the way of concrete info - it might be that the Ukrainians are imposing a news blackout of sorts and making sure that no names of specific fighting areas are being revealed.
Elena,65,is a real russian hero
Think ill put my money on HIMARS before any russian precision guided munitions
On the economic front, Putin not having good day either
Russian telegram channels also report on the murder of the ex-MP from the "Servant of the People" Alexei Kovalev, whom the Russians appointed "agrarian deputy prime minister" in the "government" of the Kherson region.
Baza writes about it.
According to the public, on August 28 at about 15:00, unknown persons climbed into Kovalev's private house in the city of Holaya Pristan. There, they shot him with a pump-action shotgun and then attacked his 38-year-old partner. She was stabbed in the neck. Kovalev's body with a gunshot wound to the head was found by his mother.

Seems they have opened a large front pushing for Kherson
Good news on the proposed EU intervention. People tend to forget just how much enormous financial clout the EU has and unlimited funds is not an exaggeration but getting them on the same page to do things can be a bit tougher.
Yep doom and gloom merchants better pack up and get their one way tickets back to the motherland
We had two major economic crises in 15 years, one the ECB stepped in and demolished those betting on euro collapse and another EU and various governments stepped in and supported people and businesses thru a near COMPLETE shut down of economies
tbf, the Liveau map had shown Russian advances in both North and South of Ukraine over the last week.
