Why hasn't lowry won in over 3 years? Has he not got the mind for it?
Em 3 years is a lot shorter? So i dont really understand your point. Lowry imo will finish on 2 or 3. Rory will finish on 4. Considering the chasm in their talent thats poor from Rory. He was a young fella back then , the mind was care free!
No he didn't. Have a look at the last six golf tournaments he played and you'll see that he's struggled off the tee and with his putter through all those tournaments.
The guy won four times this year including a major, you don't do that if you are a bottler. He just had a great run when they came back yesterday morning and then it was back to normal. When the course was playing easy his issues weren't that big of an issue. The course was tougher yesterday and where you struggle costs you more.
What Rory did yesterday was incredible. The birdies on 17 and 18 at the end of round three and then four birdies in five holes early in the final round.
I don't think they'll do it, was just thinking out loud.
theres a way higher chance that Rory will end on 5 rather than Shane end on 2
given he is 2 years younger than him
the chasm in success between them is massive, not to knock Shane
I'd say both are fairly care free being successful sports men with nice comfy lives
Why do people think talent should mean guaranteed majors?
Tiger was a freak of nature in his prime, and I think he colours everything else that people see now.
Could Rory have won more in the last 10 years than he has, yes, maybe 2, 3 more were realistic.
He did everything right in St Andrews this year on the final day, 18 GIR, but had an ice cold putter.
If you look at the guys with more majors than Rory over their careers, it's a list of exceptional golfers.
Putting together the 4 rounds 4 times a year is not just a case of flipping a switch no matter how naturally talented someone might be
I think it more a case of certain people not having a clue what it actually means to be labelled a bottler of a choker, Jack Nicklaus finished runner up 17 times in Majors - by your definition Jack Nicklaus was a choker and a bottler - do you see how stupid it sounds now???
'fcuk the haters' - is that some form of self-deprecation, because the only hater I see here is you.
Stated without any irony whatsoever. 🤣
Do you think Scheffler can win another Major? Cause that was some bottle job right there. The way Rory is playing at the moment it would be crazy to write him off at any Major. I think he's more consistent than Scheffler despite the great year he's had
Ah, I wouldn't call that a 'bottle job' from Scheffler. He wasn't playing his best golf from the start. A lot of missed fairways (~40%) in the last couple of rounds, but worked hard to recover from them and stay in the tournament. Some great up and downs and clutch putts holed. You just can't miss that many fairways and hope to win a tournament like that, yet he almost pulled it off.
Jack nicklaus was won 18majors. Rory will not win a major again. Ive watched enough of his majors since 2014. Its lunacy to suggest otherwise.
Scheffler will be able to win another major. His bottlemanship yesterday while terrible , didnt come at a major. I think he will be ok going forward. You think im crazy to write off Rory, i think its crazy people on here saying he will win multiple more . Same people saying it since probably 2017.
You can't say every time someone doesn't win that it's choking or bottling it. So Rory won, Scheffler bottled but if Scheffler won Rory bottled it. Only one can win, doesn't mean the person who doesn't win bottled it.
@rogerywalters We get it:
You're a big fan of Rory's - even though it sure doesn't sound like it
You don't think he will win another major
You think he is a bottler even though he just won one of the hardest titles to win in golf
Why not repeat this a few more times in the hope that the rest of us will understand?
It really all depends on where tournaments are played. There are courses that suits Shane's strengths like where you have smaller greens and skills around the green are paramount to success. If you get a major played on a course like that then Shane has a great chance, a much better chance than Rory.
If you have long par fours and fives with bigger greens then that suits Rory.
I am a big fan of Rory. And his stand against LIV is commendable. Nobody on here can say why he hasnt won a major since 2014? Apart from me , its my opinion he hasnt the mind for it. Hes an incredible talent but hasnt won one since he was a youngster. It was such an impressive win yesterday I was delighted for him.
To say scheffler didnt bottle that yesterday would be incorrect. Unless you are afraid of the term.
This post aged well anyway...
Surely the true lunacy is to suggest that the current World Number 3, 42 time tournament winner, 4 time major winner, 3 time WGC winner and 3 time Fed-Ex Champion who has at least 15 more years at the top of the game will not win another major.
The majors will continue to be played on the same courses they have for the last 10 years, give or take
You have one outlier in their
Then take age and fitness
Stop using words you don't understand, its very embarrassing.
I understand what bottle means pal.
He is a 4 time major winner since 2014. We are talking about majors. The world ranking and tournament wins ironically probably reduces Rorys chance of another major. Cant handle the pressure of expectation. Member his opening round in his home patch a few years back?
I suspect it would have been considered lunacy to say in 2014 that he would not win another one before 2023.
Just saying, it doesn’t get any easier the more time that passes.
'Ironically' - the number of words that you don't actually understand the meaning of is frightening!
Do you think it is a certainty that he wont win another major before his finished? Do you think than that the serial winner doesn't have the 'mind' for it?
You are never on solid ground when you start posting about grammar, syntax, diction etc. If you criticise others, your own has to be perfect.
Again, do you agree with his assertion that his success in non majors is somehow hindering him in Majors as he can't handle expectation?
We don’t have to agree or disagree, it’s just an opinion, why are you getting so excited?
Not excited at all.
You haven't provided an opinion which is my point.
Just saying!
