The luvvies are out in force, Ballsy making sure the print media get the ‘mentches’
Started to bring up the Troy story then an immediate U turn and off the topic immediately.
O' Connor is truly an appalling presenter. The first 15 mins was a shambles - S. T. F. U. Brendan!
*Checks NT* - pure serenity in comparison.
No sponsor and massively reduced advertising on BOC's show - I wonder why
Brendan did his best to throw in as many disclaimers as possible on Troy there.
Maybe he was right?
Do you think a panel can purvey anything they like on radio without any let or hindrance, whether it’s true or not?
ThAts his job, dude.
No time for Troy and his antics but you can’t just toss out anything you like on the issue.
surely you understand that?
The dogs in the street smell a rat.. and a big rat.. how can a full time hard working TD buy a property in 2019 at knock down price and have it fully renovated and flipped at twice the price to a local authority in the space of 3 months??? Ordinary people know this is not normal and there's a stink about it. Who owned this property prior to his purchase? Was it a 'distressed property'? Were previous occupiers evicted as unable to pay their mortgage? How did our busy man Robert find the time in amongst all his constituency work to have this property renovated and sold at a substantial increase in such a short period of time?? The people of the panel were merely reflecting what the ordinary citizen is thinking, more answers required. Maybe Mr.Troy needs to decide whether he's going to be a property developer or a TD.
Of course I know and understand it’s his job to correct falsehoods. It’s not his job however to stop the panel asking legitimate questions.
Did you listen to the segment?
Does anyone listen to the show on a Saturday at all?
All valid points, but the story is still the same, it’s Ballsy’s job to ensure that allegations and statements thrown out on radio, without any ‘right of reply’ is a no no.
A lot of legal issues here, what the “people on the street” think is one thing, what is put out on radio, and not moderated,is another matter entirely.
surely you can understand that?
Duffy uses the same tactic. It's a fairly blunt way of making ordinary comments seem dangerous or even like conspiracy theory.
Keep stating disclaimers enough and you stifle comment and questions.
Wouldn't listen to anything on Pravda anymore. But when I did, the Saturday show was fine for those who were overweight, unfit, suffering from various mental health issues etc.
The rest of us turned it off.
But you turn on the Sunday one?
What is MLMCD suing them for……… I forget?
No I don't, I prefer to read the reports here, which usually reflect the reasons RTE is gone from my app list now!
NT is far better on Sunday, fast moving and well, it just flows better for me.
Amd again, they were questions - not allegations or statements.
as you say yourself - surely you understand that?
Defamation.
Many have sued before her, so the use of the tactic (not used evidently the day MLMD is suing over) is not to avoid being sued therefore.
It's a selective attempt to cordon off or shut down comment of a certain type about certain types.
Lot of litigation out there Butthers, lot of allegations can be couched into ‘questions’.
The lads and lassies in the striped breeches are fat on the hog from that auld stuff.
Surely you understand that……😀
NT is brutal on Saturdays after Anton Savage, Bobby Kerr should go back to the “Late Breakfast” format.
Sunday is much better with Future Proof and then Gavin Reilly.
You would have very bland radio shows if people weren't allowed to question dodgy politicians like Troy clearly is. All political stories involve peeling the onion and the panel were spot on.
Many dodgy politicians threaten to sue for defamation but you know what, they rarely ever do.
Did MLMCD not do it?
You see presenters are normal folk, my friend, they don’t want writs hanging over them, they don’t want to be up in courts of law over something that someone else said.
Could I respectfully suggest that if YOU were running a discussion panel you’d make sure no tosser landed you in the courts.?
Im only a ordinary Joey and I can see that.
Multiple disclaimers are unusual Brendi. One usually suffises.
Are they, going on my experience they are extremely common.
The reason it raised comment here in the first place was how unusual it was.
Hmmmm…….. maybe in your realm, but not mine.
Didnt the ‘front seat passenger’ threaten to sue anyone who inquired about his activities?
More common than one thinks in my opinion.
Maybe where you dwell it’s different?
Uhmmm…..
With respect I know the difference between a legitimate question and a libelous allegation.
I don't do riddles Brendi, if can't respect the conversation enough to spit it out in plain English why bother at all.
Who is the front seat passenger??
Amazing how uninformed you can be when it suits you.
But of course you know well what I was referring to……..
WTF? Or how the hell was anybody to see the reference there and what is the relevance?
