I don’t see the logic in what you are saying here.

Let’s see what the good citizens of Longford/Westmeath think of him at the neXt election .

In my opinion that’s a far better barometer than the drittle being peddled by the leavings of the Water Charges protest here.

I would never put my X beside a lad or lass who I felt behaved like the boy Troy.

About time we had a publication like the ditch.

Anything at all to say or clarify about your comments about Agenda's at the Ditch now BA, shocking isn't it, they'd dare show there's no agenda.

How about that awful Millionaire you dislike so much 🤔

Searched the whole thread there and can't find a single word of praise for The Ditch from you. Quite the opposite actually, just a lot of bitter bile about them which has kinda been blown outta the water today.

    Morto for you tbh.

SF seems to be a well run party and the Guirke story would have been dealt with quickly (as it was) if it was run first. FF doesn't have the same efficiency and the Troy Story just dragged on until it went mainstream. The Ditch was also able to get a number of articles from the drip feed of revelations about Troy. By running the Guirke/SF story it neutralises the FFG claims that The Ditch is a partisan publication.

Junior Minister James Brown getting roasted by Sarah on Drivetime.

Refused to give his opinion on Troy's conflict of interest and got the 'Thank you Minister, you didn't answer the question, maybe next time'. 😁

We could do with Sarah here on this thread.

The Ditch has mentioned a lot more in their article than the Indo has but yet you still find fault with what they have done.

However I will say that the Indo has done a good job here.

SF have come out strongly and said anymore lapses by Mr Guirke will result in disciplinary action. Sharp and swift unlike FF who have still not done this and who had their leader MM say he regrets that Troy resigned.

For me its about accountability. Pee Flynn and Lowry are still popular, doesn't make them ethical or honest.

McInerney tried to ‘flash bang’ the boy Brown. Her normal M.O.

Brown handled the tactic very well, wasn’t phased by her.

She knew she failed with the sigh of exasperation towards the end.

She asked him what his personal opinion was on Troy's conflict of interest.

    He waffled and didn't answer.

There was no flash bang, just a very evident deflection.

The exasperation was echoed around the country by everyone who could see what he was doing - not answering the question

Indeed @skimpydoo there's been far much more said from a small cohort here about the Ditch, mostly scurrilous deflection, than what they Reported on. Now the main opposition party have come out strongly and have made it abundantly clear to their TD, today's revelations unacceptable.

My, haven't they shown what FF should have done, will they be commended, not on your Nelly and I've a sneaking suspicion, other TD'S from a number of parties may currently & frantically be "Checking" all is order, but of course Property registration dates with the RTB are what is important, not Misinterpretions.

Of course he didn’t , he is no idiot who would be pushed into an answer without getting the full story.

The boy Troy still has plenty to say and apparently will be available to scrutiny.

The obvious thing is to actually wait u til the full story is elicited.

Not be bullied into answers on a radio interview.

I said it several days ago that the opposition were remarkably quiet, and they were. Crawling out of the woodwork now. There was no way that Troy was the only one who omitted stuff from the register or elsewhere.

Also said that one of the benefits of him resigning is that it sets down a marker. If one of your ministers in the future is caught telling lies in the past on the declaration of interests then you can resign.

I'd say there's a lot of stuff being archived at the moment for future use when there's a change of government.

SF have come out strongly and said anymore lapses by Mr Guirke will result in disciplinary action.

    😂

This couldn't have backfired any worse for SF online supporters. The outrage has been replaced now with "ahh it's ok he won't do it again"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81,325 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

So now you agree he didn't answer...ok.

And there was an undoubted conflict of interest. Nothing Troy has to say is going to erase that. He campaigned on behalf of landlords and for increases in payments when he was a landlord himself and in receipt of those payments.

He heh…. You are now trying to put out the idea that this SF debacle is a positive event .

    Very poor effort…..

They've come out better than MM and LV who've circled the wagons to defend and praise Troy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,242 ✭✭✭brokenangel

    No they haven't

Mary Lou was telling everyone 24 hours ago about how it was a disgrace and "very serious questions" need to be asked about the Taoiseach

Now she is telling everyone it's ok once he doesn't do it again.

It's a total disaster for Sinn Fein and no idea how anyone could say it isn't

The question is now how many TD's across parties have similar issues? Will have to wait to see if Indo breaks anymore as an independent media source

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,727 ✭✭✭skimpydoo

How has it backfired? Unlike with FF and Troy, SF have come out strongly condemning Mr Guirke. I have not seen the same from FF who have let it drag on and on, If MM had come out from day 1 and said Troy was sacked I would have more time for them. The outrage has not been replaced with "ahh it's ok he won't do it again", they have come out with firm action something FF and FFG did not do with Troy.

You don't like that SF have been top class and done what is expected to be done. Please get your bias out of your arse and at least admit that SF have done what FF and FFG should have done.

Tut Tut Breni, have I said such a thing, you really must try harder.

I'm not going to get into a back and fourth with you of all people, we know what your views on the main opposition party are.

Any TD, regardless of what party they belong to should be called out & sanctioned, but even you must be impressed by the Ditch"s unbiased reporting and dare I say the Main opposition parties swift reaction and comments 😏

Leo must be in Awe and wondering how he's got #TroyStory so, so, so wrong 😏

I presume you won't be reviewing your earlier comments on the Ditch 🤔

That’s you opinion ,a chara, and you are entitled to it.

Doesnt have to seep through to those who’s opinions actually matter,a chara.

The boy Brown wasn’t going to allow McInerney get another ‘head’ cue the sigh of exasperation towards the end.

Well handled by the boy Brown in my opinion, a sensible response, not like the irrelevant comment here.

    Pile of shite there BA.

For starters there is a much much bigger file on what Troy did. And LV and MM's support of him needs questioning.

Guirke should face sanction for one offence of failing to register one property, that being said.

I hope anyone at it gets done. Especially ministers of any party. Do you agree?

Making it about sides only dilutes the problem.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,199 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

The simplest way to look at #TroyStory for those unsure.

🏠🏠🏠🏠🏠🏠🏠🏠🏠🏠🏠 (11) Shenanigans & numberous Misinterpretions, a few statements, Problems with Documentation, Property Deals, Planning Issues all sorts of Deeds of Daring Do, Zero condemnation from FG or FG = TROY

1 error that we know of, Immediate response and condemnation from his Party and Leader = guirke

    The Ditch Reporting on Both

    Simples 😏

    "bias out of your arse"

I suggest you read back over the comments you have made on this thread before firing out accusations.

It's another excellent example on this forum of "double standard".

You are purposefully conflating the SF party with Robert Troy. They do not cancel each other out. Running to Stormont or pointing over there doesn't excuse Troy. You cannot give an example of anyone going after Troy, but defending similar behaviour. There is only double standards from people like you who will not discuss MM and LV backing Troy at all.
