They didn't tell Facebook what to do, that was the decision of both social media and news outlets. Can you point to what exactly was illegal? Please cite some laws rather than just saying illegal.

Jan 6th was the culmination of significant and damaging attempts to dismiss legally cast votes through intimidation of elected officials and election workers, conspiracy theories, and trying to have the election results simply disregarded in an attempt for the sitting President to retain the presidency. The riot on Jan 6th was a part of that, but it's one part of many. And the actions of those involved have continued past Biden's inauguration with Trump still calling the election illegitimate, stolen etc, and is seeping into State elections too as per Loomer and others reactions as soon as they lose. Not facts, not logic, just "I lost so this election was stolen!"

He himself as Vice President certified the election results which confirmed Bush, his opponent, as President. Trump tried to convince Mike Pence not to certify the results in order to retain the Presidency for himself.

There's a bit more to it than that while plenty of emails are legitimate, others were not. Some were after he actually had the laptop. Others showed indications of being notified. On top of that the Washington Post found that the data had been copied and accessed for three years by people who weren't Hunter Biden. So yep, real laptop but the veracity of all the data is very much so in question. Btw, what law did the FBI violate by warning social media platforms?
