What makes you think he hasn't set this up already and siloed Steve against being identified? It's pretty easy to launder information, look at wikileaks
Because it's Trump and he'd have boasted about it already.
Couple of reasons I expect, each one as bad as the next.
To actually share them with others, whether that be Saudi's, Russians, North Koreans, convicted felons who are close friends of his etc etc.
Maybe an attempt to use them as a threat against prosecution in some sort of a deluded plan.
I don't think he's going to come back from this (that doesn't mean I think he's going to be jailed or anything like it) if that is the case, I hope he doesn't go quietly because the GOP will be the big losers if he tires to hold on and it will simply be their chickens coming home to roost.
I saw that polling.
From memory it was something like 93% of Democrats thought it should continue , about 50% of Independents and around 20% of Republicans.
Which is about how you'd expect it , utterly partisan in its breakdown.
Truth , Law and facts no longer matter in the US - All that matters is which team you are on.
You can twist most polls to give you a result you want. What was it, Rasmussen?
John Dean looked at Trumps Major Motion and found it laughing - it cites page 782 of US v Nixon to defend Trump but US v Nixon is only 716 pages
More lawyer issues

But the judge in question is apparently an anti-vaxxer Trump appointee. So, even though these laughable clown lawyers are before the court and fouled up their filing, they'll be back and I expect she'll be very helpful to them. Still, more of "the best people." Heck, he hired Michael Cohen who was in fact a graduate of one of the lowest ranking law schools in the US, Cooley school of law.
There's not an awful lot that a judge in Florida can really do no matter how "friendly" they might be to Trump. If they issued a temporary injunction it'd get pulled almost immediately in Federal court.
He's not getting the stuff back and if a Special Master gets appointed they'll have to be independent and anything that is the property of the Federal government cannot be deemed privileged to Trump - That argument has been had and lost already and Trump published the letter proving that yesterday (and shot himself in the foot Bigly in the process).
He already tried to claim privilege on all the stuff that they already got back earlier this year and he was run out on a rail.
I agree with you whatever about thinks like marriage abortion etc which a Conservative judge could point to. Things like this are more rigid in law
In other words "what is this pile of crap you are wasting my time over."
Let's not knock down a whole law school, I'm sure Trump could manage to find a Yale graduate that managed to fail their way to the top.
republicans can’t learn to not **** where they sleep
He actually seemed like a reasonably good public speaker back then, when you compare it to his current output.
Well scripted and he stayed on point. Years of the work helped
No one else to blame it on this time...
At latest reporting, the count is 700 pages of documents that trump shouldn't be in possesion of, bearing in mind the penalty for the offence detailed in ....
is 10 years per page Trump better hope the sentence runs concurrently and not consecutively
The mood music in the US is such that I doubt that he will go to jail. It would result in civil war (they sacrifice the long-term dangers of allowing this precedent for the short-term benefit of peace)
I think the risks of civil war would be equal if he didn't suffer some consequences for his criminality, so the DOJ are dammed if they do and dammed if they don't, in other words the risk of political violence is moot. Given that, the greater philisophical question arises of equal justice for all, no matter their social standing, so do you think trump should face punishment for his alleged crimes? Are ex presidents above the law?
I personally would throw the book at him.
However, I would worry more about civil war perpetuated by those who support Trump versus those that don’t.
I also fear the sheer amount of money driving the conservative agenda (e.g. see link below)
Look, if Trump is charged and convicted with some sort of crime arising from this document seizure, any penalty he could face which would categorically prevent him from running for a 2nd term as POTUS is going to whip his supporters into an anger hitherto unseen, whether that be prison time in a real prison, house arrest, or simply being forced to retire from political life. So, if Trump were to face any kind of real penalty, it's probably going to have to be accepted that there's going to be some kind of messy confrontation. Sadly, there comes times when words just don't do it anymore.
I cannot begin to fathom what is going through the minds of the supporters. It is hard to comprehend supporting him? And it terrified me that there is a possibility that a non-negligible number of voters want him as the next POTUS
This is me right now...
Hmmmm, not so sure about that binary. If Trump isn't indicted for anything, I think he'll easily win in 2024 (barring something else mental happening; quite likely). His supporters lap up his rhetoric. This whole FBI investigation plays into his "corrupt deep state government/media trying to take him down" narrative. Add that to Biden being an awful enough candidate. Sure have a look at what paddy power say, Ron DeSantis is ahead of Biden https://www.paddypower.com/politics?tab=usa
Betting sites are not going to be a good indicator. They use things like money put on which at this stage is a waste of money and also with the ridiculous way American politics is set up having to win primaries first then entering a 2 horse race the market just doesn’t have any clue what might happen. The horses haven’t been declared so the odds are of next to no value.
Trump couldn't beat Biden last time, given that the undecideds are the kingmakers in a GE, what has trump done in the interim to sway those voters?
nobody cares about bookmakers odds.
People keep saying about how Biden's approval ratings are low and you're saying that Biden is behind Ron DeSantis in current polls, and I'm not even going to question those two points, but if it comes down to if Trump being able to run for president again, what his polling against Biden will be. We've seen how Trump has behaved in his four years of presidency and he really radicalised a big vote against him. If he runs for president again, I see no indication that he will alter his platform in any significant way. I expect he will be angrier, pettier and hungry for revenge. He will be 2020 Trump, but more so.
There is absolutely no way Trump is running in 2024. Yes, he has his rabid support base who don't care what he does, but that's about it. No one else is going to vote for him and he knows it. Running again and losing - for a second time - would be too much for him.
I'd be very surprised if the Republican leadership want him to run and I think they'll do everything they can to dissuade him. Whatever that may entail...
His supporters won't be enough to get him elected, it wasn't in 2020. January 6th and this investigation will have turned off even more moderates and independents, just as his presidency did - hence the loss.
We'll just have to disagree on that. I think betting sites are a good indicator, as much as anyone can predict the future. The fact that it's a two horse race is already baked in. Have a look at the winning party instead then. Currently Republican is a big favourite. Sure money going on will influence the odds but how many whales are betting on US politics.
Their flawed two party system will mean anyone with a republican leaning will vote for Trump. Policy actually does matter to those outside of the MAGA nutters. Biden is being wrongly blamed for global inflation but Fox News etc don't care about the nuance. Every American will feel inflation and it will sway votes away from the status quo. Biden also being blamed for the disastrous Afghanistan exit even though Trump made that deal. And given how visibly old he is, he's not a great candidate overall.
I think you'd be surprised how many Americans vote for Trump, in spite of all his flaws, because they disagree so much with the democrat's policy. Have a look at this reddit thread for some anecdotal evidence, the top comments read "Imagine if everything they say about trump is true and half the country still hates your policies enough to tolerate it".
I'm no fan of Trump, in fact I think he's probably the worst thing to ever happen to the United States and the republican party, but maybe some of you need to step outside your bubbles and see what the other side are saying.
Just want to add I'm not happy at all that the only person thanking my previous post is the Alex Jones defending conspiracy theorist brenbrady. I do not wish at all to associate with that.
