I don't know what was in the legal pack.
All I know is that I spent the best part of a Saturday driving out there for a public viewing. Had an estate agent there tell me that it was a wonderful opportunity and that there were 'no issues that I know of'.
If I wanted any more info I could either spend several hours on the internet trawling through legal documents (something I have no skill in), or else give BidX1 a deposit of (IIRC) €4,500 and they would send me a legal pack where I could then find out that I was wasting my time on the property and then attempt to get my deposit back (not always easy from what I gather).
OR: BidX1 could just do the decent thing and say what they know, and filter out 80% of potential buyers and stop wasting my and their time. I also looked at a property in Naas that they were selling at the time and was seriously interested in it. I just have very little confidence in them now.
Note to self - must do better when trying to find houses for thread 😁
That's what I think every time I see something next to the sea. Sea levels rising is going to make that a very dangerous level soon enough
€95,000 for this. This estate agents honesty is to be commended: "Please note that this building is not currently habitable."

Very close to nature, and in a quiet location.
Very bad ad. A drone shot or satellite shot to show what is included. Like I have no idea what land is included as it doesn't even mention it in the ad.
Guessing the photographer is just back from working on a series of Most Haunted.
What % of the asking price is for the view and what % is for the fairly ordinary 70s/80s bungalow? I am guessing at least 70% for the view
At least 80%.
Old aluminium windows, BER E, one avocado bathroom, one yellow bathroom and dated decor.
Absolutely fantastic location and views, but a tad too close to the water for comfort.
Great find!
Spectacular site! That bathroom is a little exposed to the decking!
Edit - OMG I have just seen the price! Yes, its Glengarriff, yes its beautiful. But no, not at that price.
Great view in all but you are miles away from Cork if you wanted to do some proper shopping and forget about a day trip to Dublin. Not for me.
I wouldn't be too worried about shopping if I had that view!
Fabulous house, but for that money I'd want a bit more privacy. No neighbours for 200m minimum.
The Ice House is the only 'building' on it, that would be very small and not something you'd even think of living in. It's basically a site with no mention of planning permission.
I wonder is the Ice House a protected structure?
I don't know Cork prices but something like that on the east coast would go for absolutely mad money! It's a beautiful spot, you can always change the decor and the bathrooms if that's what you prefer but that location is fab. Might be a different kettle of fish in the winter of course.
A few weird ones in D8...
"Minus 1" - I've walked past this a few times, never realised it was a house, thought it was a shed or a back yard entrance. Inside looks more like a brutalist art studio than a house.
500k for a spire in Inchicore "lapsed planning permission for 3 bedroom 206 sqm house that wraps around the spire." So another 500k+ to actually see if the permission persists and build an awkward house on the site...would love to see the plans of the original submission
EDIT: Its from nearly 23 years ago!

This I would buy if I had the money. The views and the potential for the house
Still, makes getting directions to the house easy. Otherwise what's the Point?

I don't know who'd live in any of these places, but I don't think it would be me!
Odd though it may seem to Dubliners, but the possibility of day trips to Dublin do not feature as a must-have amenity for us country bumpkins.
I think 695K is pretty reasonable.
The first one looks like a modern version of Japanese houses, it's awful.
Second one - half a mil for a small site with the headache of getting planning and a protected structure? No thanks. I bet the 2 semi-ds weren't there when planning was originally granted, surely they'd object?
This up for sale again?
I'd love to see the plans for the proposed spire house, but they don't seem to be available - there is a list of conditions but the actual plans must not have been digitised. Its hard to see how you could put a house on that site that would be in proportion to the spire.
I would imagine the image dates from whenever it was up for sale, its not necessarily recent.
The spire is a terrible location as the site is very overlooked and small. There isn't really anything you can do with the spire itself. Kind of cool but once reality is brought in it doesn't have much value
It's an overpriced site with a tower that, while nice in itself, is an obstacle that hinders you in building a house on the site.
From memory the recommendation was that they should have gone for larger widows, but possibly got a job lot of smaller windows 😂
It's all the differing levels too, it looks like someone just threw a pile of windows at the house.
I sometimes look at modern houses which are designed by a professional architect, go through a strict planning process and which are meant to blend in with the landscape. I often feel they stick out more than ever.
