Thanks @callaway92 there goes my romantic meal plan!
It's gone quiet in here..
..anyway Screwfix are coming to Clonmel, taking over the old GBM Renault showroom. Wonder what Chadwicks will make of that?
Any update on JSYK or anything new popping up in the town?
Thats great news. Any timescale ?
It's at the planning permission stage at the moment so not imminent.
Not Clonmel related I know but Krispy Kreme is meant to be opening in Cashel. It might do alright!
Was driving around this evening and noticed there opening a new Lidl.
Do ye think two Lidl's will do well in Clonmel?
I could understand if KK was going out by the McDonald's site in Cashel because that gets so many off the motorway with the service station and McDonald's but seemingly it's to go on the old Cork road where a dealership just closed. Makes no sense.
Too far off the motorway and too isolated to warrant a 24 hour drive through imo.
They have one in Clonmel already which is doing very well. The new one is about 300yds from Aldi.Aldi and Lidl dont like eachother.
I'm not so sure. Remember the chaos around the KK that opened in Blanch a few years ago. Queues there at 3am etc?
If you build it, they will come...... and develop diabetes.
Plus, that's very close to the next exit off the motorway after the Mcdonalds one.
There's a big difference to Dublin and Cashel though.
How can you sustain that hype in Cashel long term?
Krispy kreme are going to be available in circle K shops around the country so maybe it's also going to be some kind of distribution hub as well?
Ill not buy anything from Circle K ever again. They screwed us motorists when the government reduced fuel by 20c.Ye have short memories Clonmel people.
How did they screw you? I presume you checked the price on the pump before filling. By filling your vehicle you are agreeing to pay the price. If not happy go somewhere else.
And so did every other petrol station in the country
Krispy Kreme have a deal done with Tesco as well I've seen their stand one of the bigger Tesco stores in Kildare maybe it's a distribution centre to service the Tesco contract
I surely did.
Yes they did,but Circle K were thr first in.
Is Clonmel as rough as I've heard? You can't walk around without being hassles or attacked?
Every town has its scrotes. Clonmel is no different.
Does anyone know roughly the areas of this new Greenway being proposed around Clonmel to Cahir direction. There is a mock map of the area but I'd be interested what routes they be thinking of making the Greenway
Never been attacked or hassled in my life in clonmel.
Yeah you heard right. When myself and my wife collect my pension at the Post Office and then go to Dunnes to do our weekly shop we have TWO hired minders with us.Boy Clonmel is a dangerous town.
Bad things happen in Clonmel, Thurles, Tipperary, Nenagh, Templemore etc. none of them are utopia’s. But compared to other counties, the towns are quiet enough. Mostly you’ll just get beggars coming up to you asking for money or cigarettes. I always just say I don’t smoke or I don’t carry cash. They move on to find a sucker
I'm not from Clonmel and visit it occasionally. I wouldn't consider it rough. There's the odd character around and there's places out on the ring road I wouldn't like to live but for a town of it's size it's seems fine to me.
Any idea what happened Jysk?
All progress seems to have stopped.
On the upside the new sports centre beside the college is an impressive site now
It should be pointed out that Clonmel does have a visible junkie problem once more on O'Connell Street and that lane way from O'Connell Street to the Mary Street Car Park (Hopkins Lane?)
Absolute scrotes begging, hassling and roaring at each other. Open drug dealing being observed there and also outside McDonalds on Gladstone St.
It seems the Gardai did a clearout of the Clonmel Arms Hotel, where they all were, after a violent incident. Now they wander certain areas of the Town Centre like zombies. Old St Marys is another favourite haunt in the recent fine weather. Squad car has been in there numerous time s in the past few weeks.
sign went up over the door this week so must be near to opening? been a snails pace
I remember the one in Cork took ages also.
