Lower patient to nurse ratio?
Third best in the OECD.
He has one tweet up. Not even on Virgin Media website, on no media source in Ireland.
Reasonable question and this is response. No thanks!!
As I said, last time I fully supported the nurses and will do again.
Seemingly Australia have great housing as well π
"However, for some countries (France, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Turkey and the United States), due to lack of comparable data, the figures correspond to "professionally active" nurses, including nurses working in the health sector as managers, educators, researchers, etc".
The post you replied to referred to a nurse to patient ratio. That isn't what the OECD are measuring here.
Proven to be bullshit and you bloody well know it.
Pesky liars those nurses.
Certainly not a higher furniture to patient ratio π
And the Irish Times reporting, Irish Medical students who chose Ukraine to study because of costs and certain specialties now facing difficulties trying to continue their studies here.
This I find rather curious given Simon Harris only to happy to welcome Ukrainian students here to continue their studies but even more odd is the fact Irish Medical colleges finding it difficult (impossible) to get any information from Ukrainian Universities. I mention this in the context of Simon Harris seemingly talking out of both sides of his mouth.
It's a curriculum comparison issue, standard practice. Given that the universities are in Kyiv, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Sumy and Ternopil it's not surprising they are having problems accessing details. There's no suggestion that they will not be allowed to continue but they will need that paperwork addressed first.
Also this was interesting:
Indeed so I'll ask again why did Simon Harris blather on about inviting up to 3k Ukrainian students here knowing as I presumed he would, getting a curriculum comparison would be near impossible from Ukraine regardless of what a person is studying or their nationality, seems like a fair Question to ask π€
Yes he should have told them to stay in Ukraine till they got the right paper work before coming to Ireland
Really I am not sure what is so confusing about a war breaking out and people having a few more important things, their life for one, than making sure they have a doc from their college.
That's okay so. Those nurses quoted above don't know what they are talking about, and should be grateful.
Where's their loyalty eh blanch? Skiddaddling off to Dubai, Australia and Canada after all we did for them.
Not like the old days.
There is a massive worldwide shortage of nurses so the likes of Australia, the UK and Canada regularly target Irish nurses. Dubai is really a money thing.
Let's leave the war out this BA I've asked a reasonable question which you appear begrudgingly to accept was unreasonable, thank you
Have to go, it's kicked off on that other story on Twitter, I've shared a link in the relevant thread π
Here's what he said about 5 days ago. It seems to be all about PLCs. It's not part of the Temporary Directive requirements BTW, it's an option countries can choose to offer.
What? I mean, what are you telling me this for?
"Let's leave the war out" π€¦ββοΈ
No let's not. Thanks
You seem to want to question everything about the Ukraine people coming to Ireland, maybe you can explain why?
You mentioned most of those countries and I'm pointing out that active recruitment by countries is part of the landscape. We do it with Filipino nurses for example, India too I think.
Precisely, talking out of both sides of his mouth here's what he said a few months ago, lots more if you search π€
We have nurses from all over the World working in HSE. We had a midwife from Syria a few years ago looking after us.
Everyone knew about the nurses going to Dubai years ago, probably still do, 6 months and coming out with 30k, using baths in accommodation to brew alcohol and all sorts of carry on.
Even when I was in Australia years ago the place was full of nurses from Ireland, they could all walk into a job. Majority doing the around the World trip and the Aus section was to make enough money to go around the rest of the World.
US and Canada of course was a favourite as well. Not sure why people suddenly think this is a huge shock to see nurses leaving Ireland to travel? they have done it for many many years.
What I fail to see here is complimenting the nurses and the education system that we produce such high quality nurses that the rest of the World want to hire them. Maybe at some stage instead of dragging nurses into these thread for a little pop at the government some of the posters might actually give some praise. Doubt it
OK you'll know we're to discuss the war, elsewhere on Boards, lots to discuss on a few threads.
I'll stick with the point and question I raised π
Now the Department has put flesh on all of it is my reading of it. What he imagined months ago was just a generalised position IMO. Many of these students would be of school age anyway.
Again, so what? Did you pick up on what I was saying and why I said it to whom it was said?
That I mentioned those destinations is neither here nor there and was merely parroting those mentioned above by @Donttrustanyone
Why does it matter that there's an active recruitment campaign? Do you think nurses wouldn't want to get the hell out of here anyway despite the obviously wonderful OECD numbers?
Having been treated by and lived with Irish nurses in Australia nearly 2 decades ago, I'm well aware of the wanderlust of the youth. Only this time its less of a want and more of a necessity for nurses.
The point you raised is why the student didn't come with right documentation, or the uni can't provide now. They didn't come with the right info because a war broke out, the universities are now shut. What is confusing?
Majority of nurses return to Ireland after travels. Kind of makes your point irrelevant doesn't it?
Of course some will stay away. They build a life overseas like many people travel to Ireland and stay.
Now the department is back tracking is my read on it, its amazing how people "Misinterpret" our read things differently I guess.
How come all the interviews cite the dire working conditions that led them to leave? The idea that so many in the same industry just fancied an adventure isn't so. You mention money every time this is raised. Do you think greed is a major factor over and above the working conditions, continuing trolley crisis and general disrespect off government and shelving of slaintecare?
There are certainly hundreds of Ukrainian students studying here this year.
The issue with these students is that they are being offered study, but they don't like what they are being offered.
But sure, everyone who complains is right.
Who said it was a huge shock?
I think the circumstances you're describing from a few years back are a wee bit different to those outlined by @Donttrustanyone above.
Why don't you think that the government is deserving of criticism in this instance?
No again your completely mis reading my post, I asked a very simple question which you've not answered, I'm referring to those "Invited", and why Irish Medical students facing such a Kerfuffle, read my op again, I can hang on
