That's Sports Extra only, if you pick up the sports pack Now TV sticks it's €15 for a month of Sky Sports + Sports Extra.
Same price as Centra.
Would the sticks be reliable to use anyway?
I stacked 3 onto my original account but they all got very hot while only been plugged in for max 10mins. I could only imagine how hot they would be after watching football all day on a Sunday.
When I used mine to top up my account I thought it felt rather hot too and that was less than 15 minutes after the updates all ran. I will continue using the account through my FireStick, just using the sticks to get the vouchers from.
Out of curiosity, what are all of you peeps buying multiple sticks going to do with the excess ones?
From a sustainability POV, buying of multiple sticks to simply to redeem codes is not good. Whilst a few may be given away, I suspect the vast majority of these are going to simply end up in landfill as they are not worth anything 2nd hand.
But Im not wagging the finger at the Boardsies here either. Consumers, especially now more than ever, will look to save costs where ever they can. No-one loves a good money saving hack more than me. In my view Now/Sky could have quite simply prevented this.
I am a first time user of NOW. I bought a stick with the 3 months sports offer. Its desperately bad constantly failing. I am assuming that its my internet connection as i'm on a part wire connection giving me around 27gigs on average. Is there any point in contacting them, as it stands I will certainly not be continuing my sub. Comments welcome. Thanks.
You're on VDSL (fibre to the cabinet)? That works fine for me. In my experience, these sort of issues can happen if the stick isn't getting a good solid wi-fi signal. How far away is the router?
Apologies if this is old news but I spotted the stick with Entertainment package on sale in Supervalu for €9.99 last night.
They can be used to watch the RTÉ and Virgin Media Players.
Thanks. Router is about 3 metres away but there is a wall and chimney breast in between. I will try moving the router and see if that helps. Thanks again.
Could you use home plugs? I use them on my stick and have zero issues with it
edit sorry no I’m thinking of a firestick
I had to plug in WiFi booster extender for my Now TV stick in the living room even it was only 4 to 5 metres away from router. Now TV stick is pretty poor picking up Wifi especially through walls. I also have Nvidia Shield beside it running of the same router and it had no problems but the Now stick kept buffering until I connected it to extender which I set up in the same room.
If anyone has a spare NowTV stick they are not using I would love it for RTE/Virgin players. I'm living in Dublin centre but could cycle or meet anywhere near me.
Add in Youtube/Netflix/Amazon Prime/Disney+ , I have subs for all these services along side my NowTV
Can sky box office be watched on now
Nope
If you dont get sorted soon I have one whose sub will be up on Sept 6th so you're welcome to it then. Am normally in the city centre at some stage most weeks so could meet somewhere around town. PM me and I'll check back with you when its ready to go
I use one of those HDMI extenders, it gives them more room to breathe away from the heat from the tv.
yes, have to be useful for any dinosaur tvs that dont have smart capability, but do have hdmi slots, or even to convert a monitor that may have a hdmi port to a smart tv, after the codes have benn harvested. i prefer to use nowtv on any other platform, as it seems to eat the gigs on the stick. is there anyway to lower the amount of data it uses through the app?
NOWSPMULVBWB
€19.49 per month for 6 months for Sky Sports channels. After offer, Sports Membership auto renews at €38.99 per month unless cancelled.
Bad Deal ,
NOWWBXNCJLWQ - €30 Sky Sports for 3 months. Pay up front for the 3 months. When that's up use the code again.
If anyone around Douglas In Cork has a stick they don't want I'll take it please.
Thanks, just used this. It will take me up to the end of the F1 season on November 21st, which is my main interest.
It's not awful if we can't get the good deals we're used to.
Exactly.
Its half price. There has been better offers but still not bad all the same.
Saw sticks with entertainment for €10 in lidl yesterday
Dunnes and Tesco also have them. Looks like DID and Currys have got additional stock in of the Sports sticks, more in some stores than before this weekend.
It's hard to keep up with this thread so apologies if answered recently, are there any deals or codes going for Boost? I share my account with family so have to get it really. Moving from 2 concurrent streams to 1 was a bit of a dick move.
Why is it a dick move? Netflix are going to clamp down on a/c sharing too - NOW TV is a great cheap PAYG option for Premium Channels if you use codes/offers correctly, Boost allows 3 streams in HD which is a great option.
